5 Swimwear Accessories You Need This Summer

When my husband and I take our kids to the pool, it’s a little bit different from when we go to the beach. At the pool, my kids are less interested in building sandcastles and more interested in splashing around with their friends. They’re also more likely to wear swim diapers than regular underwear.

That said, here are five pieces of swimwear that will make your life easier if you have toddlers or babies who need potty breaks or nap time during the day—but still want to hang out with you by the water!

The One-Piece

The one-piece swimming suit is a classic. It’s the most comfortable, it’s the most flattering, and it’s the most versatile. Plus, one-piece bathing suits are functional in keeping you covered up when you’re at the beach or pool. You can wear them with different accessories to switch up your look for the day or night!

Board Shorts

If you’re a fan of surfing, swimming or other water activities, board shorts are a must-have. These women swim shorts are made from quick-dry material, which is comfortable to wear in and out of the water. They come in a variety of styles and colors, so there’s something for everyone!

The Sarong

A sarong is a large piece of fabric that can be used as everything from a towel, shirt, cover-up to a dress or scarf. The versatile nature of this piece makes it easy to pair with other swimsuit pieces for easy accessorizing.

You can wear it as a skirt over your suit or under your suit as an extra layer of coverage. You can use it as a belt around your waist while on the beach or at home lounging around in your swimwear after you’ve cooled off in the water. You can even tie it around your head like an oversized headband!

Flip Flops

Flip flops are a classic. They’re comfortable, they go with everything and they’re perfect for the beach, pool and shower. You can even wear them in the locker room when you don’t feel like putting on your shoes yet (but we wouldn’t recommend that.) If you have a pair of flip-flops, you literally cannot go wrong—they look good with anything and will always match your outfit.

A Swim Cover Up

A swim coverup is a great way to stay cool and cover up. I mean, it’s not nearly as much fun for you or your friends if you’re just sitting around in your swimsuit all day. And what if the kids are running around with their wet towels? They’ll drip on your white couch!

“Whatever your warmer weather vibe, we’ve got the style to match, from sporty swimsuits to bikinis for women and bathing suits in a kaleidoscope of fresh colors, complete with signature logo finishes.” say fashion experts at Champion.

You can use a swim cover up as an alternative to a beach towel. If you don’t have an actual beach towel yet, I highly recommend getting one before going out into the sun (beach towels are super cheap). But again: why not add some extra flair? A cute patterned bathing suit will surely make everyone jealous—and think about how many more compliments you’ll be getting!

Hopefully, this guide has been helpful, so you can use it as a reference point, whether you want to buy something new or just refresh an old favorite.
