How I Keep My Wardrobe Organised

When it comes to my wardrobe, I am very selective about the items that I add. I used to buy hoards of clothes every single day and it would look like a warehouse in my closet, but I have got much better over the years. I quickly realised that it wasn’t sustainable and that I was wasting so much money, so I cut right on back and I am now much more conscious over what I am adding and how frequently I am adding new items. So, I thought that for this blog post I would share with you guys some of the things that I life by in order to keep my closet nice and organised!

Don’t Fall into Trends
I can remember the other year when everybody was wearing lace up front tops, I was desperate for one. I paid £40 for one from Topshop, I wore it once and then it went to die at the back of my drawer. I took a look at my wardrobe one day and realised that it was full of trend items that were very short lived. I am now trying to stop falling into trends and buying classic items that will see me through year after year!

Don’t Get Sentimental to Items
There are certain items that I could keep because they have special memories attached to them, but there is just no point in it. like my bridesmaid dress from last year, it is special because I wore it on my sister’s wedding day, but I am never going to wear it again and there is no point me keeping it. There are lots of items that I have worn on special days, but at the end of the day they are just a piece of material and I don’t really need them!

Tidy Up Each and Every Day
It is so easy when I get in from work to tear my clothes off, dive into my comfortable clothes and then not bother moving anything. But I force myself to tidy up and that helps me to keep my wardrobe lovely and organised all of the time. I can remember in my late teens, there would be piles of clothes everywhere just because I owned so many, but now I make sure that it is all really well organised!

Only Keep Items That You Wear Regularly
The last thing I guess is just to make sure that I am having regular clear outs. I filter through my whole wardrobe at least twice a year and I am very cut throat with the items that I donate to charity. Most of the things that I throw out are more or less new, but I don’t see the point in keeping an item that I am not going to wear and actually get regular use out of. That way I have a closet full of stunning items that I love.

I hope that you guys liked this blog post and it helps you out if you are a massive clothes buyer like I am. I feel like I am growing out of my old hoarding ways and I am now focusing on buying key pieces that I know I can wear year after year. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know if you have any advice for cultivating a wardrobe that you love!

  1. I always try to avoid as many trends as possible if I know it's not something I'll wear for years to come!

  2. I am that person that keeps something and tells myself I'll wear that next season but never do :') I need to get better at that. I struggle to keep my wardrobe/room tidy at the moment because it's so small and my boyfriend and I share a small wardrobe but when we move house we will have tonnes more space and I cannot wait! Great post!
