My Pre-Wedding Diet and Fitness

In the run up to the wedding, I have become really focused on my fitness and health. I have always loved going to the gym and 95% of the time, I will eat as healthy as I can. I felt like in the final couple of months, I would really push myself and try to get into the best shape of my life, so that I can feel confident and look as good as I possibly can. I have to be open with you guys and say that it hasn’t been bloody easy and there has been times where all I have wanted is a big Burger King burger and on one occasion I did leave the gym and go straight to McDonalds and I scoffed a large fries, but most of the time, I have stuck to it and I have been working bloody hard.

I am no way trying to say that if you want to lose weight or get into shape, you should do what I am doing. I just want to share with you guys what has been working for me and what I have been actually enjoying doing. Obviously, we are all different and what might work for me, would probably be a nightmare for other people, I just wanted to share what I am doing in the run up to the wedding. Anyway, before I turn this post into something else that is incredibly long, let me jump into the post…

Work Out At Least 5 Times A Week
Without a shadow of a doubt, I have to recommend going to the gym 5 times a week. This is something that I have been doing for years now and it is just part of my everyday routine. Each morning when I wake up, I head to the gym and I work out for at least an hour. I have a little plan of what exercises or machines I use on certain days to help focus on certain areas. This just seems to work for me and doing it this way it hasn’t become part of my routine and I see steady progress doing this. If you are going from never really attending the gym, start of gradual and try to build it up, that is how I had to start out!

Double Workout Days
At least 3 times a week, I try to go to the gym in the evening as well as in the morning. In the evening I like to try and book onto classes because I find that they really do help to motivate and push me more after a long day at work. My favourite classes are spinning or HIIT. These two classes I really do feel make a difference to my body and how it looks. I feel like these really did make the biggest difference and made me start to acknowledge that the changes I have been making, were paying off. Even if I can’t to the gym, I will do HIIT at home!

Cavewoman Diet - Lean Meats
Trying to eat has always been a struggle for me because I am gluten and dairy intolerant. Most of the time, I will just eat anything because 90% of the meals I like, have ingredients that react badly to me. But around the time of my wedding, I don’t want to feel uncomfortable or bloated, so I am on a cavewoman kind of diet and my body is really thanking me for it. I am trying to avoid any foods that are processed in different ways. I am now sticking to things like potatoes, grains, veggies, fruits and all different kinds of meats. I just wish that I had done it sooner!

Focus on Weights Rather Than Cardio
Another change that I have made when I am in the gym is that I am focusing much more on weights than I am cardio. I feel like I have exhausted the difference that I can make to my body when it comes to cardio, so thanks to a trainer I am now working with weights and the definition it has helped make to my body is just out of this world. For the first time in 5 years I have abs again and I am loving the difference that it has made. If you are wanting to make a switch to focusing on weights, I would recommend speaking to a trainer because they will recommend what is the best for your body.

Anyway, I will leave this post here for now. I didn’t want to make this post seem like I am preaching to you guys, I just wanted to share what I have been doing and what seems to be working well for me. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your go to health and fitness tips are!

  1. Ooh good luck with your fitness plan over the next few months, I find the colder months always harder to be good as you want comfort food but thankfully it's getting a little warmer xx

  5. I didn't think of doing double workout days. I'm always so sore after the first workout that I always say to myself "take a day to rest" which turns into a week which turns into never returning to the gym! lol! You sound way more disciplined than me! All the best in your fitness plan, I'm sure you'll smash it! - x

    1. For me, I get the best results when I mix up the intensity of my workouts, so that is why I try and have two a day!

  6. Ahhh that sounds so exciting! I wish I could embark on my own fitness journey but it is so hard when so tired and just feeling like I am trying to survive most of the time >< I do have to take my little boy to nursery, a mile walk each way with huge hill involved, so I think that will help me on the fitness front even if it absolutely knackers me for days and I have to go so slow haha :D it sounds like you are doing amazing, that's so inspiring! xx

  7. Congratulations on your up coming wedding. Working out is difficult for me to do since it isn't something I've ever enjoyed doing. I do watch a lot of what I eat and eat pretty healthy. I have been inspired to exercise a lot more the last couple of months so that's some progress which I'm very proud of myself for.

  9. I really wish I was this motivated to go to the gym. I find it so hard. It would be such a push to go before work and it's always late if I go after work x
