How I De-Stress After A Long Day

Some days, when I get in from work, I feel like I am completely drained. In between my blog and my full-time job, there are certain days where I am rushed off my feet, even more so than normal and I am left not knowing if I am coming or going. Thankfully, it isn’t very often that I do end up feeling like this because I do feel like I am pretty good at dealing with stress on a day to day kind of basis, but every now and again I do get to a point where I need to strip it all back and relax myself, before starting it all back up again the next day. So, I thought that for today’s blog post I would share some the ways that I de-stress to make myself feel better!

Shower the Day Away
The first thing that I like to do when I walk through the door is shower the day away. I tear off my work clothes like lightening and run into the shower. I make sure that I use all of my favourite products that smell bloody amazing and I instantly feel better. I don’t care what it is or how I am feeling, but a piping hot shower always makes me feel hell of a lot better and more refreshed, which is why it is perfect after a long day at work!

Go for A Nice Long Walk
I go walking everyday and more often than not, a couple times a day, but every now and again I like to pop on my walking boots and take off through the fields. I can be gone for hours at a time when I am out with the dog and I love it. I pop my earphones in and a big warm coat and I am set for the adventure. It stops me from reaching for my phone and answering emails and that is what I need after a long old day!

Cook A Lovely Home Cooked Meal
Even though I love cooking and I do most of the food in my house every single day, I love nothing more than finding a recipe and creating it from scratch. Normally, with all of the hours that we work, we will cook our own meals, but we will be a little lazy from time to time and open a jar of sauce rather than make our own ad things like that. I like to find something that will take an hour or two with lots of prep time and I just get lost in it all!

Tidy the House from Top to Bottom
I know that for most people cleaning their house is a task that they don’t particularly love doing, but I absolutely adore it. I make sure that I do a little cleaning every day so that I can stay on top of it, but I love nothing more than doing some of the bigger jobs that I don’t do as often. Like cleaning the oven or wiping down the ceilings. They are the bigger tasks that take some time and stop me from thinking about all the other little things that I need to do.

Speak to My Nan
My nan is a bloody trooper. After everything that she has been through over the years and she is still the most positive person in the world and that is why I think so highly of her. If I am not popping around to see her, I like to give her a call at night just to see how she is and see how her day has been. We do this most days anyway, but I just think that there is something so calming about having a good chinwag with my favourite gal!

Get an Early Night
I honestly don’t think that there is anything that a good early night cannot fix. I like to light some candles, put something light-hearted on the tele and then shut the world away. I ban myself from going on my phone when I am in bed and I just relax. I am one of them people that can fall asleep within a second, so normally when I crawl into bed, I am fast on within around 10 minutes, even if I intend to stay up and watch TV for a while!

I hope that if you guys are like me and you can turn into a stress head every now and again that this post helps you out. Like I said, it isn’t very often where I get to a point where I feel like I have to fully de-stress, but it certainly does help every now and again. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and share with me some of the ways that you switch off and start to relax.

  8. I'm actually on my phone way too often after work and right before bed, I've been trying to get myself into the habit of reading before bed, it actually really relaxes me and I don't end up doing it very often. Should really do that more! A nice long shower also really helps me bring back my calm.
