4 Changes That I'm Making

Last month, I did a post all about self-care. The response that I got from people off the back of that post was incredibly overwhelming and I loved getting to speak to people about something that was so close to my heart and get a positive response. It was a phrase that I had heard hell of a lot about over the past couple of years while I was online, and I knew that it was something that I wanted to implement into my own life. I shared with you in my past post some of the immediate changes that I was making in my life such as cutting out toxic friendships, enjoying the outdoors and reading more. All of these things have made a difference to my life and in today’s blog post I wanted to open that up a little more.

In this blog post, I am going to share with you guys some of the bigger things that I want to change and that I want to improve in my life. These are things that will hopefully change my outlook on things and hopefully just help me to be in a better mood each and every day. Some of these things may seem pretty straightforward and quite obvious to some people, but for me with my OCD, anxiety and everything else that I have going on in my life at the minute, things have been an upward struggle. So, hopefully by writing these things down, it will force me into making them my reality.

Laugh More
This is something that I really need to do more and that is just laugh. I always try and keep things professional and a level head on me, but sometimes I need to let that go and just be silly and have a laugh. I think it was because growing up people thought that I was some kind of ditzy airhead even though I had two degrees by the age of 18. I think people just took one look at me, saw that I liked designer labels, high heels, makeup and wrote me off as having any kind of intellectual prowess. To make myself seem more professional, especially at work, I made sure that I always put my best foot forward and that meant staying away from humorous situations. I now realise that I need to have more balance in my life and just have fun in every single aspect of my life. We are here for a good time not a long time!

Be More Present
I am an absolute swine for not being present and in the moment. Because I have always been a worrier by nature, I tend to spend more time panicking over things to come, rather than enjoying the moment. I want to go out with my friends, have a few drinks and not think twice about the work that I have to do on my blog. I want to go on holiday with my husband-to-be without checking my work email in an evening. I want to just enjoy what I have going on in my life and thoroughly enjoy every single moment of it. I think that deleting my planners and to-do lists have really helped me out with this because I am not always looking to the future.

Put Myself First
Most of the thing that I do on a day to day basis are for other people. Don’t get me wrong, I love going to see my nan every day and taking her shopping on a weekend, but I also need to do things for me. This will be just going and getting my hair done each month for a couple of hours a time or going for dinner, where I want to go for dinner. There are just some small changes that I want to implement in my life where instead of bending to the needs of others, that I put my foot down and do the things that I want to do. I am a very much a go with the flow kind of person, but I do need to start making myself a priority.

Trust My Gut
When something happens in my life, I overthink it. I sit there, and I toy with the thought in my head, I build it up and before you know it, I have made a mountain over a molehill. This year, I want to go with my gut. I am an intelligent person and I know that I can trust my instinct. If something is happening and I have a decision to make, I just want to go with what my gut is telling me, regardless of what other people think. My head will always overthink something, but my gut will go with what is right.

Again, I hope that you guys enjoyed this blog post. I really do think that when you write things down, you can manifest them and put them into place in your life, so hopefully that is going to happen here. I have always been a glass half empty kind of person, so hopefully these things will help me to look more on the positive side of things and give me a better outlook on things. As normal, make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know some of the big picture changes that you have made in your life, for your own happiness!

  1. Love all of these and think EVERYONE should make these changes too! I promised 2019 I'd be more true to myself and so far...so good. (Although I've had a few slip-ups along the way.) Love hearing that you spend time with your Nan, though. Family is so important as well.
