My October Favourites

Bloody hell, how in all that is holy am I writing another favourite post already. I feel like all I ever do is write my favourites posts because the months just seem to be flying by so quickly. October was quite a shitty month for me. I did a post earlier in the month, but it is a year since my grandad passed away, and as of yet, it still hasn’t got any easier. In my post earlier, this month I mention that I just wasn’t really in the mood to talk about makeup. Even though this is a beauty and fashion blog, I want it to be a representation of me on the internet and to tell the truth, I just didn’t want to talk about how much I loved products when I was in no mood to do so. So, I did a post about keeping it real and how I was feeling, and I am very glad that I did.

Through October, even though I wasn’t really in the mood to sit down and write blog posts about makeup, I still tried out hell of a lot of new products. I seem to have an ever-growing pile of makeup that I need to try out, so that is what I have been trying to work through this past month. In this favourites post, I am going to mention hell of a lot of old favourite products that I cannot seem to put down, as well as some of the new goodies that I have been using and loving.  Anyway, without any more rambling, because I can already see this being a long post, I will jump into my October favourites…

At this point, I have tried out quite a few Cover FX products and so far, I have loved everything that I have tried. The brand as a whole just seems to produce really high-quality cosmetics and I am all for that. I first saw Kandee Johnson using this over on YouTube and after that I had to buy it. What I love this palette for in particular is the incredible shade range that just seem to complement each other so perfectly. I have always said that here on my blog that I am a massive fan of cream contouring and this is just the ideal things for me to own.

Every single shade in this palette is highly pigmented to give a full coverage finish, but it is also nice and creamy to make it apply like a dream. I have said before that sometimes when you go down the high pigment route, you often have to compromise on the blendability of the product, but not with this Cover FX Contour kit. I have been using this pretty much non-stop over the past couple of weeks and I have been loving how my makeup has been looking. I cannot wait to try out more products by Cover FX!

What in the lord’s name did I do before I bought this brush? I have had this for quite a while now and it really is my favourite tools for doing my makeup with. I had heard people mentioning this brush for such a long time before I went ahead and bought it. When I was training as a makeup artist, I bought a lot of high quality blending brushes from a small independent company, so I didn’t really have a need to go ahead and buy this brush. Now that my old brushes are getting a little tatty, it was time to upgrade to this MAC 217.

I use this brush for so much and that is why I have more than one of them. The most popular use for this brush is for applying eyeshadow and using it as a blending brush. I love to use this brush in the crease to apply my transition shade because it does the job so well and applies the product so flawlessly. I also use this to apply concealers underneath my eyes, when I use this brush for that purpose, it buffs it in really nicely and looks flawless on the skin. This little brush is so handy and has quickly become one of my favourites!

I had my eye on this foundation for such a long time before I finally went ahead and bought it. To be honest, I have wanted it since it was first released, which must be at least 5 years ago now. The only reason why I didn’t buy it sooner was because I was in the middle of my love affair with my Nars Sheer Glow foundation and I didn’t really feel the need for another Nars foundation in my life. It wasn’t until I went to Italy last year and I swatched this in the middle of Sephora and I fell in love with the texture of this.

That is one of the main things that I really love about this foundation, the texture. It has a really velvety feel on the skin and I find it nice and comfortable. When I have this applied to my whole face, it has a glow to it that makes my skin look nice and healthy, very similar to the Nars Sheer Glow foundation, but I find this more of a full coverage product. With one layer of this, all of my problem areas are completely covered. I am a huge fan or Nars and I know that this is going to be a firm favourite of mine for a very long time!

I have had this foundation for quite a while now and even though I did like it, I haven’t really used this much. I think that even though I did enjoy using this foundation, because I was so in love with the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, I didn’t reach for this very often. This paper really is everything that I want in a foundation and that is why I have finally fallen in love with it and why I am reaching for it all of the time. Especially now the weather has dropped colder, I am loving how this foundation looks on my skin.

This is essentially the same as the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but it is a matte version. I have a really stunning shade in this and it matches my olive undertones really nicely. This blends into the skin really nicely, no matter what kind of tool I use to apply it, it always looks stunning. This foundation lasts really nicely all day long and my skin looks so flawless. I love a more matte foundation in the winter months and this has been my go to product. If you haven’t tried this out yet, I highly recommend going into a store and getting a sample!

I am mentioning this concealer again, because I really do think that it is one of the most underrated makeup products that I have ever used. I mentioned this in my full review, but when I first bought this, I had never heard anything about it before. I was just stood at the Chanel counter one day buying my Chanel No5 and I happened to swatch it and I completely fell in love with it, which is why I continue to buy it now. It just amazes me that nobody ever seems to talk about this, I would expect this to be a favourite of so many people!

This is one of the creamiest concealers that I have ever used, and it looks so stunning underneath the eyes. It is a very thin consistency, that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, but it has a good level of coverage. It isn’t a full coverage concealer like the Tarte Shape Tape, but it is a good medium and I think it is ideal for an everyday basis when I am going to work. I have worn this for 12 hours at a time before and it holds up really nicely. I am even impressed that this doesn’t break up through the day around my nose where I get oily and have to blot, that is where hell of a lot of concealers seem to fail for me!

I have dug this old baby back out and I am in love with it over again. I first bought this shade two years ago and I still think that it is just as beautiful as I did when I first bought it. Before I committed to buying this product, I did have to really think about it and look into what kind of shade I wanted. At the end of the day, when you spend over £40 on a lipstick, you want it to be perfect for you. I know that some people think it is incredibly silly to spend that much on a single lipstick, but I can honestly say after using Tom Ford lipsticks for such a long time that I really love it.

This is by a country mile the creamiest lipstick that I have ever used, and it is so incredibly comfortable on my lips. The shade I have in India Rose, is the most stunning natural shade. These really are that nourishing on the lips that they almost feel like a balm. I know that these are incredibly expensive, but I really do believe that they are worth every single penny and I feel like when I reach for this, it just pulls my whole makeup look together. If you have been thinking about spoiling yourself and buying one of these, then I would just say go for it and try it out.

This is one of my most beloved bronzers in my very vast bronzer collection. I have said this so many times before, but I first saw this over on YouTube when Casey Holmes tried it out in a video. She said in the video that she really liked it and I cannot deny that it looked stunning on her skin, so naturally, it went onto my wishlist and I had to try it out for myself. As much as I really wanted to try this out, I hadn’t really tried much by Too Faced and I didn’t want to waste my money. It wasn’t until Too Faced started being sold at Debenhams that I decided to try it out for myself.

What I really love about this bronzer is the shade of it. I thought at first, it may be a little light for my skin, but in actual fact it is the perfect shade for me. You have a lighter side and a slightly deeper and the two together is just perfection. There is a slight amount of shimmer running through the bronzer, which I know some people won’t like, but for me, I find that it brings dimensions back into the skin and I really like that. This has been a permanent favourite of mine for well over a year and I am still head over heels for it!

I have been loving this for such a long time and I know that I have mentioned it in countless blog posts this year, but I really do think that it deserves every little bit of attention that it gets. Now, I am sure that if you have visited my blog before, you will know that I am a huge fan of everything that is Charlotte Tilbury. The brand just seems incredibly consistent and everything that I have used from this brand just seems to be of an incredible quality, which is why I continue to purchase things from the brand. When I saw Charlotte, Tilbury start to mention this product on her Instagram back at the late end of last year, I knew I had to try it out for myself.

Since I started to use this, I have been hooked on it. Over the years I have tried so many different liquid and cream contouring products, but nothing that works quite as well as this does, which is why I am going back to it time and time again. The product itself is super creamy and it blends into the skin like a dream. I love the applicator, even though many people seem to very strongly dislike it. I use the deeper shade of this product and it is so beautiful for my tanned skin. I cannot seem to put this down and I use it near enough every single day. I highly recommend this to everybody and I adore it!

I have completely fallen back in love with my MAC eyeshadow palette. It has been such a long time since I last dug this out and used it because I have been busy with other things, but I have found this, and I am completely in love with it. If you don’t know the backstory on this, last year I started to create my own MAC Pro Eyeshadow Palette. I never knew at the time; just how expensive it would end up being. I think nearly £200 later, I had my complete palette, which is super expensive compared to something like an Anastasia or Urban Decay Palette.

Anyway, the reason why I love this which I think makes it worth the high price tag, is that I adore and use every single shade in it. With readymade palettes from other brands, you always fall in love with a couple shades and never touch others. With this, I can create so many looks, and I adore every single shade. Because the shadows are all by MAC, you know that they are a really nice quality and they blend in so well. As you can see from the image, this is a mostly neutral palette, but they are the kind of eyeshadows that I like to use more than anything else. I am completely obsessed with this again.

There you have them, all of my favourite products through October. I have been using these constantly and really loving how my makeup has been turning out. I still have so many new makeup items to try out, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for those posts. As normal, I will leave links to everything down below in case you want to check anything out. If you want to see my full review on anything that I have mentioned, just click the name of the item above.  Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your favourite products have been through October!
