How I Stay Organised

For today’s blog post, I am going to be speaking to you about organisation, which is one of my favourite things in the world. I always seem to be incredibly busy, so I plan out every single aspect of my life in order to keep me on some kind of schedule and to make sure that everything I need to get done, gets done. I am sure that some of you will already know that I have OCD, so the things that are quite normal to other people, can be like climbing a mountain for me, so I take steps every single day to ensure that everything is organised, planned and on the right track. And, for today’s blog post, I thought that I would share with you, some of my organisation tips!

I know that for hell of a lot of people the things that I am going to mention are going to sounds pretty extreme, but when you have OCD, organisation and planning is serious business. Especially with everything that I have going on in my personal life as well as my full-time job and my blog thrown into the mix, it can be quite easy to get lost in it all, so by taking steps I can make sure that I am on top of everything and what I have planned is done in the time that it needs to be done. Anyway, let me jump into the post…

Plan Out My Week
Every Sunday evening before I get in bed for the night, I will create a plan for the next 7 days. I do this in a Google Sheet and it helps me to track it and keep it up to date wherever I am. I will write down on my 7-day plan if I have anything going on that week including meeting up with friends, work I want to complete and what posts are going live. On this plan I will also make a note on certain days if I want to trial new makeup items for my blog and even go as far as to plan my outfits on it.  This just helps me clearly see what I have going on through the week and I can easily remove or add things as I go along.

Try To Stick To My Plan
One important thing that I try and do is stick to my plan. It is easy to think that just for one day I will skip something or work on something later, I just remind myself that I put it into my plan, in a certain order for a reason and that is why I try to work my way down my plan and stick to what I put. There will always be times when I can’t stick to it 100%, but I always try my best and it seems to work out really well for me. I can’t deny that every now and again I will skip the odd workout that I put down on my list!

Be Realistic
When I write my plan for the week, I try not to be over ambitious. It is easy to get carried away when you are planning, and I was guilty of it when I first started to map out my week. For example, when I first started mapping out my week I would put things down like ‘write 5 blog posts per day’, it would be amazing if I could do that, but in hindsight, it is never going to happen. Then when I didn’t do the over ambitious things from my plan I would be disheartened, even though they were pretty much unachievable. Now, I just keep it realistic, but I still push myself.

Write Everything Down
I have the memory of a sieve. Well, that may be a little harsh on myself, but I do have a hard time remembering things. Because of my OCD, I feel like I have a million things running around my mind all at the same time, which is where my frustration comes from, because of this the ideas that I have in my head can quickly get lost in a sea of over thinking. Now, so I don’t forget things, I have notepads scattered all over the house and I also have a blank note open on my phone, so I can be quick before my ideas are lost to my own mind forever!

My Trusty Blog Planner
Back when I first set up my blog, I set up a Google Sheet so that I can keep a track on my blog wherever and whenever I need to. My blog planner keeps a track on everything, from views and stats to posts and what stage I am at with each of them. It lets me know what content needs to be written, what photographs need to be taken and what can be scheduled in and uploaded. It really has helped to keep me on the right track. Over the last few years I have tried out lots of different ways to organise my blog, but this is the easiest and quickest.

My Essential Blogging Tools
Lastly for this post, I want to mention some of the essential blogging tools that I have in my arsenal that help me to go about my daily business. Not only do these things help me with my blog, but everything else that I have going on in my life. First up is my iPhone, from here I can access everything, so it is a key tool. Then is my MacBook and iPad, with these I can work from anywhere that I chose, and they are really easy to operate and light to carry with me. The last thing I guess would be my Louis Vuitton Agenda, not only is it really handy to carry around with me, it is bloody stunning!

There you have it, all of the steps I take to stay on track and keep myself organised. Like I said earlier on in this post, I know that to a lot of people this will seem pretty extreme, but it works for me, so I will carry on doing it. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what your best organisation tips are!

  13. I always try and do far too much and realised I definitely need to be more realistic otherwise I will NOT get through my to-do list and also I won't do it properly at all! I need to get a blog planner again as I kind of just use a notebook and I forget to take it with me so never remember to write ideas down! xx

  15. Great post! I can relate to all of this so much. It's nice to hear you discuss these things so openly and in such a helpful way. Thank you!

I've just installed Google Sheets on my phone - can't wait to see how I can encorporate it into my existing organisation and planning systems.

You're so right about about making a plan only being part of the story, sticking to it is actually the biggest problem for most people, myself included. I agree 100% about keeping it realistic too.

Thanks for sharing all of this my love. You're such an inspiration because you manage everything you have on your plate very well and it's clear to see that you are trying so hard to keep ontop of everything. It's also lovely to see that you are succeeding!

I'm now going to follow you on Bloglovin' to stay up to date. I looked for you on social media and couldn't find you. But then I read your post on why you deleted your accounts. I totally understand and think that's a bold and wise choice.

    Anyway, happy FriYay, my love!
