What's In My Everyday Makeup Bag

Every day when I leave the house, whether it be to go to work or just out with friends, I have to keep a little makeup bag with me with all of my essentials inside. I am sure that we have all been there before, where we suffer from a full-blown makeup meltdown. It has happened to me on a couple occasions, where I have got caught in a downpour or burst our ugly crying, I have had my fair share of makeup disasters. So, I like to keep a small bag with me full of all the things that can fix any kind of disaster. Trust me when I say that it has come in handy very much so over the past year!

Everything that I keep in my little travel makeup bag, I swear by. I like to switch up my makeup so often, but the things that I keep in my little bag are things that I have used for years. I like to stick with the things that I know are going to work time and time again and if I am having a makeup meltdown, I want to use products that are going to really work for me. Anyway, without any further rambling I will jump into this post, because we all know how much I can talk in these beauty posts!

MAC Full Coverage Foundation
I have adored this foundation for such a long time and I am sure that people will already know that this is a firm favourite of mine. Not only do I have one of these in my vanity, I also keep one in my handbag for touching up when I need it. This has proved to be so handy when I have a makeup meltdown. When I am at work and especially when I am quite stressed, I touch my face a fair amount, which means that my makeup comes off and I have to touch it up a little. So, for this I use my MAC Full Coverage foundation with a small cosmetic sponge.

What I love about this foundation in particular and what keeps me buying it time after time is that it looks so stunning on the skin. I use this in the shade C40 and it is the perfect match for my skin with a lovely olive undertone. This is a really creamy foundation and it blends into the skin so beautifully and flawlessly. Plus, this is a great full coverage product and it when you apply using a Beauty Blender it can have a very natural finish, or you can build it up to be quite more intense. I am obsessed with this and cannot leave the house without it.

Morphe E48 Tapered Brush
I know that some people are a little funny whenever anybody mentions anything that is Morphe related, but it is a brand that is yet to fail me. I have tried quite a few of their brushes now, usually bought through Beauty Bay here in the UK and I am obsessed with them. They all do the job that I want them to do and have held up well against being used and washed regularly. And I love to carry this Morphe E48 brush with me, it has well and truly taken the place of my old favourite the Real Techniques Setting Brush. I will say that the only thing about this brush is that the handle is really long, and it makes it hard to fit in my bag!

What I really love about this brush is the tapered bristles. It is a fairly dense brush, but not too dense that it doesn’t move freely on the face. I can also pack powder onto the face pretty well using this. Plus, because this brush is tapered on the end it makes it really good for getting in close to the eye. I have to keep a brush like this on me because I need to touch my face up through the day and this is the perfect tool for the job. Because the brush is quite dense, most of the time I don’t even have to go in with excess powder because the brush holds enough as there is

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder
I could not write this post without mentioning the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Finish Powder. Since I bought this, I have kept it in my handbag. I used to use the Chanel Vitalumiere Powder and I did really like it, but since I switched over to this one, I have realised how much better it really is. Because this is a post of mine, I imagine that you were half expecting to see a Charlotte Tilbury product mentioned in here at some point. This is such a finely milled powder, so it feels like next to nothing on the skin, but it also does the job of perfecting.

Not to mention that this is a truly stunning compact to pull out of your handbag when you need to touch up your makeup. I bought this in the shade medium, which I will admit isn’t really a medium shade, it is much lighter, but it is still perfect for what I need. I tend to just use a touch of this on my Morphe E48 brush and just apply it in the areas where I get particularly oily. This mattifies the whole is and makes my skin look as it did first thing in the morning.

Duo Eye Glue
I wear false eyelashes pretty much every day when I am out of the house. I wish I could get out of the habit of wearing false eyelashes just to go to work in, but without them I feel like my eyes look like teeny tiny holes in my face. Don’t get me wrong, the lashes that I wear are very natural and comfortable. But, I am not opposed to the ends of them flicking off every now and again, I am only human after all and nothing annoys me more than lashes that aren’t stuck down properly, so I make sure that I always have a Duo eyelash glue close to me.

I have always been a fan of Duo Eyelash Glue. I can remember when I first started wearing false eyelashes I would just use whatever cheap glue came in the packet with the lashes and it was always rubbish, so when I bought Duo, I was obsessed with it. I have never known a glue to last quite as well as this does, but at the same time be easy and unpainful to remove. My lashes seem to last really well all day long, but I am prone to the odd day where my eyes can be watery, and it is days like that where I am always glad to have this glue nearby. Not to mention that it had saved so many people's bacon on a night out!

Victoria Secret Body Spray
This is something that had never really interested me before, then everybody at work started buying it and I just couldn’t help myself. Before I bought this, I used to carry my Chanel No5 around with me in my handbag, but I have lost it on more than one occasion, so I was more than happy to start carrying something significantly cheaper around with me. When people sprayed this on themselves at work, I couldn’t deny that it smelt amazing, just so fruity and fresh. Not to mention that it seemed to last on them for a really long time, so I wanted to try them out.

I can remember when I went into the Victoria's Secret store to buy some of these, I almost walked straight back out. I was the oldest in the fragrance section by around 10 years. It was full of young teenage girls who were just spraying this all over the show. When I tried to test some of them to see what they smelt like, I couldn’t tell if it was nice or not because the little brats had sprayed that much of it. In the end, I got a fragrance that I really love, and I make sure that I carry it with me every single day. It just makes me feel much fresher throughout the day.

Nivea Lip Balm
I literally have these things scattered all over so that they are easy to reach. I have the world's most chapped lips, it is a title that I don’t like holding, but I am pretty sure that I do. No matter what I do, or what I use on my lips, they always seem to be dry. I have even been the doctors before over the years with them because they can cause me so much pain and nothing seem to help. I have spent so much money on different products over the years and nothing seems to make the slightest bit of difference, other than this Nivea Lip Balm.

Because these seem to be the only thing that makes a difference, I have to keep one of them in my handbag. These just seem to give my lips short release and a little bit of comfort. Nivea are just such a classic brand and their products are still well loved for a reason and that is because they are a reasonable price and they work. I am still yet to find anything that works quite as well as this does and for only £2, I really do not think that you would be able to find anything that is better out there for the money. I love this stuff and I have done for a very long time!

Aesop Hand Balm
When I first bought this Aesop Hand Balm, I only really wanted it for the packaging. I had seen this being flashed all over the place in flat lay photography and it looked really pretty, which is why I wanted to pick it up. Little did I know that I would fall in love with it and end up using it all of the time. To the point where I bought the larger pump version for at the side of my bed. Aesop have quickly become one of my favourite brands for things such as hand creams and lotions. This is definitely something that I cannot live without being in my handbag.

Plus, I need to mention that this hand balm literally smells phenomenon. Whenever I use this when I am in the office at work, people from the other side of the room can smell it and always compliment it. Because of how nourishing this is, you really only need the tiniest amount, which has meant that this tube has lasted me for such a long time, and I do use this all of the time because my hands are just as dry as my lips, which means that I am using this all of the time. I really do love this and whenever I am running low I have to repurchase it straight away because I cannot have a lull where I don’t have any of this in my handbag.

Kinder Egg
I saw this online and genuinely thought that it was the best and most useful thing that I have ever seen online. I am sure that some of you will have seen this before. It must have been around a year ago, but a meme was going around of a girl who carried an empty Kinder Egg shell with her, to put her eyelashes in. If you wear false eyelashes like I do, you will know that some days they just don’t sit comfortably, or for whatever reason you have to take them off and when you are out and about you have nowhere to put them, and that is where the Kinder Egg comes into play.

Now, I make sure that I always have a empty Kinder Egg in my little makeup bag in case I have a makeup meltdown to the point where I need to take my eyelashes off and that normally happens when I have been crying and my eyes are too wet to have them on. I did once buy something from House of Lashes that was similar in principle, but it was quite big and bulky and not to mention cost me around £10. This cost me 50p and I got to have a nice snack when I first bought it!

Brightening Eye Drops
When it gets the end of my day at work, you can really see it in my eyes. My eyes are always the first tell-tale sign in myself when it comes to being stressed or tired. After being on the computer all day at work, my eyes look like they are actually sore, so I always carry a whole array of eye drops with me and my brightening ones are by far my favourite. All I have to do is just add a couple drops of these to each eye and in moments they look so much better. I will admit that when I first apply them, they sting like an absolute bitch, but it quickly settles down and makes a whole world of difference!

There you have it, my handbag essentials. Like I said, I love every single item that I keep in my little makeup bag. I never like to load it up too much, because at the end of the day I have to carry it around me. I never take things for like bronzer or concealer, I just like things that allow me to touch up my makeup and get back to looking somewhat human. As normal, I will leave links to everything that I have mentioned down below in case you want to check them out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your essential handbag makeup items are!

  5. These are some really beautiful items to have in your everyday makeup bag - you've got some bougie tastes girl! I love the look of that Charlotte Tilbury powder and will have to do my best to afford it sometime soon - it sounds amazing. On the Morphe front, I fully agree with you - I have 2 sets of their brushes and a lot of their makeup and enjoy everything, despite them going through scandal after scandal. You just can't argue with quality! x
