My Favourite High End Makeup Products

I have never made any secret of the fact that I am a huge fan of high end makeup. If you have followed my blog for some time, you will know that I buy and use high end makeup all of the time. High end makeup for me, just seems to work so much better for my skin. I have combination skin that weighs down more on the oily side of the spectrum, so my makeup has to be really good quality in order for it to hold up against everything that I throw at it.  Plus, when I put my makeup on in a morning, I need it to last me all day long and look just as good at the end of the day as it did when I first apply it, which is why I just tend to always go for high-end over drugstore.

For this post, I thought that I would share with you some of my favourite high-end products. I understand that it can be hard to commit to buying high-end makeup because of the price tag. Which is why, before I make any high-end purchases, I always look into the product first. I will either read some blogs or watch some YouTube videos so that I have a good idea on how it is and how it will work for me. So, I thought that I would share with you, some of the things that are the best of the best and that I use time and time again because they just seem to work perfectly with my skin.

Since this foundation was released the other year, it has taken the whole internet by storm. As soon as it was released I knew that I wanted to try it out. I bought this from the Space NK website the moment that it was first released. Then when I received it, I realised that it was completely the wrong shade, the shade I had was just pure orange and it made me look like a carrot stick. I still bloody used it though because it cost me enough, I just had to try and fix it using light concealers. It wasn’t until I bought my correct shade that I realised how much I really loved this foundation.

I will say that this foundation isn’t that great, but nothing that a little blotting powder throughout the day cannot fix, and that really doesn’t put me off. This is such a creamy and blendable foundation, unlike any other foundation stick that I have previously owned. This is a lovely full coverage foundation and even though it is a very highly pigmented foundation, it is incredibly comfortable to wear all day long on my skin. I know that some people did complain about the fact that you don’t get much product for the price, but what you do get is absolutely incredible and that is the reason why I keep on buying it. I now have 4 different shades in this so that I can do a full cream contour and highlight look with it and I love how it looks!

I have harped on about this mascara time after time and I am still obsessed with it. I first bought this mascara on a little bit of a whim, I didn’t really know anything about it, I just saw the stunning gold packaging and I thought it looked perfection. It wasn’t until I had used it a couple times that I really fell in love with it and I am still using it to this day. I do go through stages of using other mascaras, but this is the product that I always go back to and I have to make sure that I one of these in my drawers at all times because it is such a reliable mascara. If you haven’t tried this out before, I would highly recommend it.

What I really love about this mascara is how full and thick it makes my eyelashes look. Before I go in with mascara I always give my lashes a good curl, and then I go straight in with my mascara. This stuff seems to really lengthen my eyelashes, to the point where they almost reach to my eyebrows. It makes every single stand so much thicker, but never makes them look and it smells amazing. I know that a scented mascara won’t be for everybody, but personally I really love the scent of the whole YSL range of makeup. I won’t harp on about this any longer, just know that I really love it!

I am sure that it will not come as a surprise to anybody that this post is going to be quite heavy on the Charlotte Tilbury products. Since I first started trying products from Charlotte Tilbury I have been obsessed, so when she started to show this palette on social media, I knew that I was going to have to own it. Little did I know at the time when I first saw this that it was a £60 palette. When I saw the price of it, I will admit that it initially put me off from buying it, I did think that there were other things out there on the market with similar shades at a much lower price. But, in true Danielle fashion, I had to buy it anyway!

What I adore about this palette is the colour combinations in it. I know that some people online reviewed and didn’t really like this palette because the pigment wasn’t incredibly strong, but if you are a fan of a subtle eye look like I am, this is the perfect palette. The selection of shades is just so perfectly put together in my opinion. You have great shades to put together everything from natural to quite intense looks. One of the main aspects of this palette that I think are out of this world are the transition shades, they are what makes this palette worth the money in my opinion.

I know that I have mentioned this Tom Ford palette so many times this year, but I am still so obsessed with it. People seem to really hate whenever I mention anything that is Tom Ford Beauty. I know that it is an incredibly expensive makeup brand, but so far everything that I have used has worked like a dream for me, so I am going to continue to us them. I have had my eye on this palette for years now and I only bought it at the start of this year and I still love it just as much as I did them. I feel like the two shades in this palette are just perfect for me and I use it near enough every single day.

This has a contouring shade and a highlighter. The contour shade is deep enough for my skin, but not too deep that it overpowers the rest of my makeup. It has the perfect undertone to make it the perfect product to contour with. The highlighter is more like a really pretty sheen than it is a stark highlighter, which is the kind of look what I am all about. I like to just go in with my fingers or the butt of my Beauty Blender and apply it all over. I have never used a highlighting or contour combination which looks quite as natural as this one does. I know that this one palette was near enough £60, but I wouldn’t hesitate about paying that again.

I have told you about my love for this concealer many times and I am still completely head over heels with it. From the moment I first saw it mentioned on YouTube over on Carli Bybel’s channel, I knew that I had to try it out. I went to try and buy it only to realise that it wasn’t even released yet and I had a very long wait before I could finally get my hands on it. As soon as this went live on the Space NK website, I was checked out within a number of minutes. Since then, I have been hooked on this and I have used it pretty much every single day since.

What sets this Nars Concealer apart from the rest is the fact that it is so smoothing and perfecting on the skin. I will apply this with my Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Brush on the areas around my nose where I have texture and enlarged pores and it just seems to blur everything out completely. Also, the shade range in this is so perfect and similarly to the Radiant Creamy Concealer, the shade Custard is just so ideal. I am around my 5th jar of this stuff, which I think just shows how much I really do love it and I know that I am going to continue to buy this for a very long time.

I feel like this is one of them products that is so well known that I don’t even have to bring it up. This product isn’t really mentioned that much anymore, but I really think that it should be. I think this was one of the first high-end products that I ever bought. Back then, I saw so many people using this on YouTube and I knew that I had to have it. I will say right now, that the huge flaw with this product is the shade. This is such a light colour and when I am tanned, it barely how’s up on me, but when I am a little on the fair side, this is just perfection. I am still waiting for the day when they release more shades!

I like to reach for this when I am cream contouring and I want something to help a little with the whole blending process. This is an incredibly creamy product that just helps add an emollient when you are blending and if you use cream products like I do, then the chances are that you will love this. When I am lightly fairer, this will be the only product that I use to bronze up my face and then I just take this on a Beauty Blender and apply that wherever I feel like it is necessary. This is such a great product by Chanel and I really think that every single makeup lover should try this out!

I have been using this foundation for so many years, we must be going on for nearly 7 years at this point and I am still so obsessed with it. I used this long before the big craze for it begun, and when everybody decided that they were in love with it and wanted to try it, I couldn’t get my hands on it anymore because it was always sold out. When the buzz around this died down again, and I could get my hands on it, I fell in love with it and I have been using it for every big occasion ever since. I really do not think that there has been anything that has matched this yet in terms of how it feels, how it looks and how it applies.

I would say that when I apply this foundation it is a stunning medium coverage. It helps to really even my skin tone, but I do need to go in with more over the areas where I have a little darkness, like on my cheeks.  The shade that I have in this is ideal for my skin and has the perfect undertones for my olive skin. This blends into the skin really nicely and always looks really flawless and to a degree natural, or at least as natural as a foundation can look. I find that the longer that I wear this foundation, the prettier that it seems to look on the skin, and foundations that can do that are a winner in my book.

Since I first bought this palette, I have been in love with it. Before I bought this, I would see it all over the show and I literally felt like the only person in the whole world that didn’t have this. So, I logged straight onto her website and bought this for myself. To start with I wasn’t entirely sure that this was going to work for me because the shade in the medium palette seemed far too light, but the dark looked too dark. Anyway, in the end I bought the medium palette and I think that it is to die for. I know for a fact, if I was still working as a freelance makeup artist, this would be a permanent item in my makeup kit.

The contouring shade has the most perfect undertones to make it the ideal product for contouring with and really chiselling out the cheekbones, especially when I use it on a brush like my Nars Ita with a flat edge. The highlighting shade is the side that I really fell in love with, which surprised the hell out of me, because I’m not a highlighter kind of person. But, this is just such a beautiful and natural shade and I love reaching for it. I am on my second one of these palettes and that is because I used every single inch of the highlighter, well before I did the contouring side.

I feel like this is one of the most under-rated beauty items that I have in my collection. I first bought this around 3 years ago and I have been in love with it ever since. I saw Rosie Huntington-Whiteley using this on her Snapchat when she was doing her makeup and it just looked really quick and effortless to use and it went straight onto my wishlist. I am now on my 3rd one of these, which is good going really to say how much product you get in this. What staggers me about this is that I haven’t heard a single other soul mention this either in blogs or on YouTube and it is just so amazing and deserves so much attention.

This is a super creamy and blendable eyebrow pencil and it is unlike anything that I have used before. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, but this is definitely the top of my list. The tip is really nice and precise, it looks similar to the Anastasia Brow Definer, but it is a much creamier pencil, which allows it to glide through the brows so much easier. I think that this pencil really does deserve so much more attention than it currently gets. I know that I harp on about this all the time, but it allows me to get me brows on in no time at all and I love it.

I know that I have mentioned this so many times over the years and that you are probably sick of hearing about this blusher by Charlotte Tilbury, but I am obsessed with it. I have always said here on my blog that I’m not really a blusher person, I always gravitate towards bronzer than I do blusher. But, when I saw this ‘nipple’ blusher starting to be mentioned online, it really spiked my interest and I wanted to try it out for myself. It is safe to say that it really didn’t disappoint me, and I am in love with it. The only thing that has stopped me from buying more of these is the price, because at £35 a pop, they aren’t cheap.

I bought this in the shade Sex on Fire, I had seen a couple people using this certain colour online and it seemed to be the perfect shade for my skin tone and I didn’t really fancy taking too much of a risk and getting anything too bright or garish. This is just the perfect flush of colour for me. You get two shades in this pan, one in the centre and the other surrounding it. I think you are meant to go in with the outer colour first and then pop the deeper shade just on the apples of your cheeks, but I just tend to swirl my brush through it all and it looks really pretty. I have never had an issue with this looking too intense and it is really easy to blend.

I couldn’t do this post without at least mentioning my beloved Nars Sheer Glow Foundation at least once. I first tried this foundation a couple years ago and it really was love at first use, which is why you will have seen me mention this time and time again. I have seen this being mentioned all over the internet for years and I could not deny that it looked truly incredible, but I didn’t want to buy it. Because I have skin that is quite oily, I didn’t think that a foundation with the word ‘Glow’ in the title would really work for me. In the end, I caved and bought this and I am completely obsessed with it.

Literally from the first moment that I used this, I knew that it was going to be my favourite foundation. I would say that the coverage is medium to full, but it can be built up nicely to be quite a full coverage, which covers all of my darkness easily. This is a glowing foundation, but it doesn’t make me any more oily than normal, it just gives my skin a lovely sheen and it makes me look healthy more than anything. I don’t even want to know how much money I have spent on this stuff over the years because it will certainly be in the hundreds, but I honestly think that this is the best foundation I have ever used, and I am head over heels for it still!

The last thing that I want to mention is this cream eyeshadow by Charlotte Tilbury. I know, surprise surprise that I am mentioning yet another Charlotte Tilbury makeup product. I first wanted to try these out because I was seeing them in, so much blog photography and they just really appealed to me. I think I had also seen Tanya Burr wearing this in a couple of her makeup tutorials and I was just completely sold on them. I have a couple of these in my collection now, but I have to say that my favourite by a country mile is this one in the shade Bette which is a really stunning gold shade.

What I adore about these is how quick and easy they are to use. I tend to take my MAC 217 and dip the very tip into the cream eyeshadow and then just add it to my eyelid like a light wash of colour. By doing this, you get a really light layer and I love that look. You can build it up to make it more intense, but I like to keep it looking nice and natural. Even though this is a cream product, I never notice it creasing or settling into fine lines. It is a really great product and I reach for it time and time again. These also make a really nice base for layering other eyeshadows on the top.

So, there you have it. I know that this turned into another insanely long post, but I like to give you as much information as I can on each of the products. If you want to see my full review on anything that I have mentioned, just click the name of the item above to be taken to that page. As normal, I will leave links to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to check them out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your favourite high-end makeup products are and I will be sure to check them out!
