Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick to Contour

For today’s blog post, I want to share with you guys something that I have been really loving at the minute and it is something that I cannot seem to put down. If you have read my blog posts before, you may know that I am a huge fan of cream contouring and I have tried just about every single product out there. It wasn’t until a couple of months back when I was doing my foundation routine with my usual Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation, which has been a favourite of mine for a very long time, that I thought about trying a deeper shade to contour my face with. And I have to say, that I am really loving it!

The reason why I wanted to try the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick as a cream contour is because of how incredible the foundation itself is. I have been using the foundation in the shade Golden Tan for such a long time and I am hooked on it. The foundation is super creamy and blends in like a dream and it is that reason why I thought that this would make such a great contour product, considering that most of the cream contouring products that I have are quite dry and can be hard to blend into the skin. So, I logged onto the Space NK website and decided to pick up the shade Chestnut.

The packaging of this foundation is just perfection and I feel like it makes it perfect for contouring with. Because it is in a stick form, it is super quick and easy to just draw lines on your face and away you go. I also love the stick for travelling with because you know that nothing can smash or spill whilst you are on the go. Plus, because of the triangle shape of the product, you can get nice and precise lines by using the edge of the stick and it really fits into the hallows of the cheekbones and nicely underneath the jawline.

Anybody who has tried this Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick will know that it is a super creamy product. I find this whole range of foundations to be really nice and hydrating on the skin, which is rare for a stick product. It glides on the skin so beautifully and smoothly because it is so creamy. I have paired this with a whole array of product and it seems to apply flawlessly and blend in really well with anything. I find that the easiest way to blend this into the skin is just to pat it in using a damp Beauty Blender and it looks like perfection.

A concern of mine when I apply a cream contouring product on top of my foundation is that it is going to move the foundation that I already have on my face. With this product, I don’t have to worry about anything like that. If I pair this deeper shade with my normal shade in the Hourglass Vanish Stick, they work together like a dream come true, but then again it does with a whole bunch of foundations. Plus, the added coverage from this product helps to hide my problem areas such as my pigmentation on my cheeks.

I am sure that many of you will know that for the longest time I have been using my Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick to contour my face with because the shade that I have is just stunning, and it blends out really nicely. But, I can quite confidently say that this Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation in the shade Chestnut, has bumped the Bobbi Brown Stick Foundation off the top spot. The most significant difference is just how creamy and blendable the Hourglass Stick is.

I know that this is going to be a staple in my makeup collection for a very long time. I have been using it day in and day out since I first bought it and I adore how it looks on the skin and how it blends in. It is pricey for a cream contouring product, but with this being a full-sized foundation stick, this product will last for a very long time. Not to mention that it is highly pigmented, so a very little amount of product goes a very long time indeed.

I will leave a link to this foundation down below in case you want to check it out for yourself. I think if you are a makeup and contour lover like I am then this is something that you will want to try. I think these foundations would be a great addition to any makeup kit, especially if you are a freelance makeup artist. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know if you have tried this foundation out and what you thought about it!

  3. This really is a brilliant idea Danielle! I think when a cream foundation works so well and blends effortlessly, it's like a blessing in disguise to be used as a contour stick. This way you also know that it will blend smoothly into your foundation and it will look natural and like it's part of the foundation! I really must try using the foundation this way and get my hands on a darker shade. How much darker would you typically recommend going? xx

    1. I just went three shades deeper, but I made sure that the undertone was more on the warm side so that it didn't make me look ashy!
