My July Favourites

How the hell am I sat here at my desk writing my July favourites already. This year is just flying by so bloody quickly, I feel like I say that all of the time, but I feel like all I ever do is sit down and write my monthly favourites. So far, this year has just been a whirlwind and I feel like I haven’t had a moment to take in just how fast thing are flying by. I think it is because I was so nervous about so many things this year, and normally when you want to put things off, they seem to swing by even quicker. Luckily, everything like that is done now as far as I am aware, so I should start to have some time to myself. Well, that is the plan anyway!

Over the past couple of months, I have been trying out some new makeup. As I am sure you are aware, I was on a spending ban at the start of the year, because I had so much planned, but because that is out of the way, I am back to spending just like I did before. I am sure that over the past couple of weeks you have seen my reviews on some of these products, but I thought that I would round up the best of the best and let you know what I have been loving through July. Anyway, without any more rambling on, here are my July favourites!

YSL All Hours Foundation
As soon as I saw this foundation all over the place I knew I had to have it. I think this seemed to get really popular since around October last year, but as much as I wanted it, I had hell of a lot of foundations in my collection at that time that I already really loved, so I decided to hold off and wait a while. I knew straight away that I would love this because I have always loved their YSL Touché Eclat Foundation and with it being a matte foundation it sounded even more perfect for my skin type. I saw this being used in hell of a lot of YouTube videos before I bought it and I thought that it always looked flawless.

One of the best things about this foundation is that I bought it for free using some of my Boots points (I love it when that happens). This is a beautiful foundation that glides onto the skin so nice and smoothly. It is matte, but not overly matte and I don’t find that this clings to any of the dry areas that I have on my face. It does help to control my oils around my nose where it is particularly bad, I do still touch up with powder throughout the day, even though that is probably more habit than necessity. I think that this foundation lasts really lovely on the skin. I would say that the longevity is as good as the Estee Lauder Double Wear, but I can quite comfortably get through my eight hours at work and not have to worry!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
And mentioning the Estee Lauder Double Wear in that last product, leads me on really nicely onto this post. The reason why I am mentioning this is because of Casey Holmes. You guys should know about this amazing woman by now because I have mentioned her so many times on my blog over the last couple of years. At the end of last year, she got married and she posted some bridal looks on her YouTube channel and one of the foundation combinations that she used was the YSL All Hours, mixed with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. So, as soon as I picked up the All Hours Foundation, I knew I had to mix them and that has reintroduced my love for this foundation.

What I love in particular about this foundation like I said before is how long and well it lasts on the skin. When I went to Paris a couple months back, this is pretty much the only foundation that I wore. I can put this foundation on in a morning and then went on the train, the Eurostar and walked around Paris trying to find our hotel. We then went out sightseeing and did some shopping and I didn’t have to even think about how my foundation looked all day long. It is just a really reliable foundation to keep in my collection, when I know I am going to be having a really long day, there is nothing better than this Estee Lauder Double Wear!

Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede Perfume
My favourite summer fragrance has made it back into my favourites posts. If you have seen me mention this perfume before on my blog, you will know that I bought this at the end of last year, which was really the wrong time to buy a floral perfume like this, but I just fell completely in love with it. Now that we are heading to the warmer months of the year, I find this being one of the only perfumes that I am reaching for. It is a lovely and light shade to wear when you don’t want anything overbearing and you just want to smell really fresh and summery. But then again, I am sure that we all know I am obsessed with Jo Malone and I would adore anything that they release!

When I went ahead and bought this perfume, I went ahead and just went straight in and bought the 100ml version because I knew just from trying it out in the store that I was going to love it. If you already know, I have the Wood Sage and Sea Salt Fragrance and the Pomegranate Noir, and I adore them both, but I honestly think that this may be my favourite Jo Malone perfume that I have tried. I really want to try more out in this fragrance because I am sure that they do a body cream with the same scent and I can only imagine how stunning that must be. Jo Malone will always be a winner for me. If you get a chance I would highly recommend going into store and trying out some of the scents!

MAC Faux Lipstick
I bought this lipstick because I wanted to use this shade as a part of my bridesmaid makeup look. I loved how my lips looks so much that day, that I have taken to wearing it most of the time. What I love about this lipstick is just how similar it is to my natural lip tone, but it just makes them look so much healthier. I feel like over the past couple of years I have kind of forgotten about my collection of MAC lipsticks. I have been so busy trying things out by other brands like Charlotte Tilbury, Tom Ford and others, that I have forgotten my MAC lipsticks, which were a staple in my collection for such a long time.

I think it was a tutorial on YouTube where I saw this lipstick for the first time. Somebody was using it in a makeup look and it was so stunning and natural on the lips, so I really wanted to try it out. I was on the hunt for the perfect neutral/pink shade for my colouring for such a long time and I feel like I finally found it with this lipstick. What I love about this is that it feels so nice and comfortable on the lips. It is quite nourishing and feels really good all-day long. I do feel like I have to top this lipstick up a little throughout the day, but I think that is a small price to pay to have a comfortable lipstick.

RCMA VK Palette
I know that some people will think that it was quite silly for me to buy a foundation palette in with so many shades just for myself, but I adore this palette. For many moons I saw this being mentioned all over the internet and I fell in love with how it looked on people’s skin. As I am sure you will know, I tried out the Graftobian foundation palette a couple months ago and I really liked it, so I thought why not give this one a go. This has quickly become one of my favourite products to use and I am reaching for it every single day. It is just going to kill me the next time I have to buy this for a few certain shades and I have to buy the whole thing again!

I used this palette on my sister’s wedding day because I knew that if I reached for this that my base makeup would look flawless all-day long. With this palette I even did the other bridesmaids makeup, as well as my sisters. Every single shade that I needed was in this palette and it was a godsend because it saved me from carrying loads of different foundations with me. The quality of these foundations is just so high. They have no SPF in, which means no flashback. I like to apply these to my face using my favourite Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Brush and then I blend it using my Beauty Blender and it looks to die for.

Loving Tan Mousse
I have wanted to try out this fake tan for such a long time, but I just couldn’t bring myself to spend this much on a self-tanner. I am sure that you have seen this bronzing mousse all over the internet like I have. It seems that almost every single blogger and YouTuber uses this fake tan, and I cannot deny that it looked out of this world. The first time that I went to buy this, I tried to do it from the Loving Tan website, but with shipping costs, taxes and the rest of it, it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. Luckily, Cult Beauty then started to sell it, but it was mega expensive, so I waited and really looked into it, before I just went ahead and bought it.

As soon as I started to use this I was so hooked on it. I have tried so many fake tans over the years and this one is just perfection. My favourites over the years has been the St Tropez and Bondi Sands and as good as they are, I feel like they both have flaws. This Loving Tan one just seems to hit every single nail, straight onto the head. I use the shade Ultra Dark and it is perfect for my dark skin tone. It is the perfect deep shade, with the most perfect undertones that makes you look like you have genuinely been out in the sun. I tend to have an issue with self-tanners developing well on my chest, but this just seems to soak in and look as it should after one coat. I could talk about this all day long, but to learn more about it, click the name above to see my full review.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow
I have been obsessed with this palette for the longest time and I still love it just as much as I did when I first bought it. I didn’t know to start with if this was going to work out for me, I thought the contour may be too light and the highlight too subtle, but everything about this is just pure perfection. I used this contouring and highlighting palette when I was doing the makeup on my sister’s wedding day and it just reminded me about how perfect it was. The formulation of the shades is both just out of this world and I have forgotten how nice this looks on my skin. I know I have rambled on so much about this over the past couple of year, but I really am in love with this product.

The contouring shade, which I thought would be too light to start with is just out of this world. It is a stunning ashy tone, with the most perfect undertones for contouring with. I love to pair this with my Morphe M523 brush, because it just fits under my cheekbones. It is the perfect shade just go give the illusion of a shadow being cast. The highlighting shade is ideal for somebody like me who is afraid of the over the top highlighting look. I reach for this all of the time because it is just so subtle and looks to die for on the skin. This is a great little palette and a staple for any makeup lover’s collection!

Nars Soft Matte Concealer
Over the past year, I have not tried to hide my love for this concealer. I first saw this on Carli Bybel’s YouTube channel and I just knew that I had to have it. The only thing was that she used it months before it was even released, so I felt like I had to last a lifetime before I could get my hands on it. Since I bought it, this has become one of my favourite concealers in my collection. What I adore about this Nars Soft Matte Concealer is just how pretty it looks on the skin and how flawless it makes my skin look. Over the past year I have gone through three of these things, which I thinks just shows how much I love reaching for it. I know I have mentioned this countless time, but I really do think it is worth it.

When you open this concealer up and start to use it, it is quite obvious just how creamy and mousse like this is. I tend to apply this using my trusty Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate brush that I mentioned earlier and again, I blend using my Beauty Blender. The reason why this has become one of my favourites is because I feel like it smooths my pores out, which can look pretty large around my nose. I may use something a little thicker with more coverage like the Tarte Shape Tape underneath my eyes where I am particularly dark, and then I will use this on areas where I want to highlight, conceal and perfect and I find that my skin looks so flawless!

Victoria Secret Body Spray
I know that this is something a little different for my blog, but I really felt like this deserved to be mentioned here on my blog because I have been using it almost constantly. I have wanted to try these out for a while, but every time I went into a Victoria's Secret store to try them out, all of the different scents mixed together, and I couldn’t really tell what they smelt like. Not to mention that the store was filled with teenagers and it made me feel like I was an old granny trying to jump on the trend. In the end, I bought a couple of these online to hide my embarrassment from all of the juveniles in the store.

What I love about this body spray is just how amazing it smells, and how long I can smell it for after I have sprayed it. In a morning when I am about to leave the house, I will pop on my deodorant and then my perfume, usually my Chanel No5. I used to carry my Chanel No5 around with me to top up with through the day, but that is quite an expensive obsession to have, which is why I have switched over to this. I like to keep one of these in my handbag, then throughout the day, I will just spritz myself really lightly just to make myself feel a little fresher. I adore how these smells and they seem to last really well, even with the smallest amount.

Sensationail Gel Kit
I have said it for years now, but I will say it again, I do my own gel nails. As much as I like how my nails look when I have been into a salon and had them done, the whole process just isn’t for me. I hate having to sit with somebody and make small talk with them for what seems to take forever. I worry about the cleanliness of the tools that they are using and not to mention that it is bloody expensive. For my whole gel kit, I think it cost me around £150, including my lamp, colours, tools and accessories. Which is the amount I would spend just getting my gels done 6 times at the salon, and this stuff lasts a lifetime, once you actually have it. I’m not going to turn this into a long one because I know that for a lot of people doing your own gel nails isn’t going to happen, but I adore everything Sensationail, it just seems to work so well for me.

There you have it, all of the things that I have been loving through July. I have been wondering for a while if I should start including some fashion and lifestyle bits I this post too, but I am just worried about how long the post would end up. We all know that I like to ramble on as it is. It would be so much easier if I could do videos about it, but the nerves will just not allow it. Anyway, I will leave links down below to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to check anything out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what you’ve been loving recently!

  6. I've never actually seen a foundation palette before! I can imagine it being really handy though if you're skin tone changes quite differently during different months. I really wanted to get myself a gel at home nail kit, I always treat myself to getting my nails done before I go away on holiday as I hate going away and my nails chipping etc so this is such a good alternative and 150 isn't too bad either for a kit I don't think! xx
