A Little Life Update

When I sat down at my desk this morning, I really didn’t know what kind of post I wanted to upload. But, with how busy I have been recently, and with how much I have been relying on the queue function of my blog, I feel a little disconnected, so I thought that today, I would do a life update post. I used to try and do these regularly, but I feel like this year has just been so crazy, that I haven’t had two minutes to myself to sit down and write one of these for you. But, I have an hour or so free, so I am going to let you know about all of the things that I have going on in my ever-hectic life at the moment!

The first thing I want to touch on is my job. As I am sure most of you will know, but blogging is not my full-time job. Monday to Friday, I work as a Marketing Executive. I honestly love my job so much. I have been at the same company now for over 5 years and I still love every single moment of it. It has just been so hectic recently that I feel like I really cannot keep up with it all. What I have always loved about my job is that when I leave at 16:30, I don’t have to think about it again until the following morning, but at the minute it just seems to be taking over my life. Don’t get me wrong, I love been busy, but I just feel like I am frazzled in an evening when I get home.

Another thing that has been taking up all of my time recently is the gym. I did a post earlier on in the year about turning my fitness game around. I have stepped up massively this year and I am starting to finally feel good about my body. As tired and busy as I have been, I refuse to give it up and slip back into some of my unhealthy habits. I feel like I have finally caught the bug for it and I now actually get grumpy if I don’t get to go the gym, and it used to be the other way around. I think I might do a post soon showing some before and after shots, but I just don’t know if I have the courage to put myself out there so blatantly, we shall see!

My blog just seems to be ticking by nicely. I knew at the start of this year that I was going to be rushed off my feet, so I put together a plan and it has really helped me in uploading consistently. It still amazes me when I log onto my analytics that things are still increasing, it is so encouraging to see. After cutting down to a post every third day this year, it has given me a chance to really work on quality over quantity. The thing at the moment is that when I get in from work, I just haven’t got enough energy to then sit at my desk and do a couple hours on my blog. I am just trying to fit in in as and where I can, it seems to be working so far!

Now, I have to touch on my sister’s wedding, because I feel like I have mentioned it so much this year. If you don’t know, at the start of July, I was the maid of honour for my older sister. I was so terrified about the day and having to walk down the aisle and do my speech, but luckily everything went by without a hitch. It was so nice to see all of our hard work from past 18 months come together and work out. The day really was beautiful, and they loved every minute of it, which is what it is all about. I even woke up the next morning still in my bridesmaid dress, my hair was still up, my makeup was on and I was still wearing my Valentino Rockstud pumps, I think that is the sign of a good night out!

If you follow me on Instagram, I am sure that you will already know that I have been on quite a few little holidays this year. Me and my boyfriend love to travel, and it is something that we haven’t really done in the past couple of years because we are saving for a house, but this year we are just throwing caution into the wind and going on holiday lots. So far, this year, I have to say that Paris was my highlight. It is a place that I have always wanted to go to and I am so glad that we did. We are also just back from Portugal where we had an amazing. I think the plan for the rest of the year is to head back to Italy and visit Rome and Florence again, even though we only went there last year, there is lots more that we want to see. Then in November, we are planning on going to Amsterdam!

On top of all that, I am also trying to spend as much time with my family as possible. I know that I have mentioned it before here on my blog, but last my grandad passed away. I took it really hard, I still am to be honest. For anybody who knows me personally, they will know that my grandad was just everything to me. He was my best friend and I just adored him, what we had was so much more than a normal granddaughter and grandfather relationship. So, this past year, I have been trying to focus a lot of my time on making sure that my nan is ok. Even though my nan will never let it slip that she is lonely, she must be. I cannot even comprehend how hard it must have been for her, to lose the person that she has been with for nearly 55 years. She is my priority, above everything else, especaially seen as though she has just had her operation to remove breast cancer. She is a strong old cookie!

I am also, back on the house hunting mission. If you have read my blog for a while, you may already know that last year me and my other half, tried to purchase our first house. We had our offer accepted, then we had everything approved by the banks, we had to have a survey done. When the results of the survey came back, they said that the best thing for the house, would be for it to be knocked down and rebuilt. After all of the money that we paid just to get that far, it was a blow. But, after having some time, we decided that it is time to go for it again. We’re not going to rush into anything because we know that the right thing will come along at the right time, we are just going to take it easy.

Anyway, there we go. You are now all caught up on me and what I have going on. Now that the wedding is over and done with, things hopefully should start to settle back down. Well, that is the plan anyway!

  2. It's always so nice to hear when someone says they love their job. As someone who grew up watching every one around me hate their jobs, this gives me hope haha but so cool for you to mention that you can still have those stressful or bad days.

  3. I love a catch up post like this!! I totally get what you mean about work - I've always wanted a job completely separate to my home life but it can be tough to switch off sometimes. I'm glad your sisters wedding went well and you're in the gym groove!!

  4. Aw such a lovely post, it sounds like there are so many exciting things happening, I hope you have an amazing time visiting Amsterdam!! It sounds like you are doing amazing achieving so, so much, even after your loss <3 our first house hunting experience fell through too as the seller changed their mind after we had spent so much on legal fees and tried everything to wriggle out of it without losing money on their end >< it was so toxic and difficult but it was the best thing to happen to us because we would never have found our home otherwise :D it was like we were being told to look elsewhere! xx
