The Makeup I Wore As Maid of Honour

I told you guys in a post last week about my sister’s wedding that was at the start of the month. I know that recently I have been mentioning her wedding a lot, but it isn’t very often that something like this happens in my immediate family. The day was truly magical, and I loved every single moment of it, but I have to admit that I am so glad that it is over and done with. It was hell of a lot of stress and planning, not to mention that the day itself I was a bag of nerves. But, I thought for this post I would share with you the makeup that I wore when I was a maid of honour.

I put this makeup on at 10am in the morning and didn’t take it off until 2am the next morning. My makeup lasted really well all day long and even in pictures from late evening my makeup still looked as good as it did in the morning. I did have to touch it up a little through the day, but that is nothing new with my oily ass skin, and I just wanted to make it look as perfect as possible, for as long as possible. So, in this post I am going to share with you how I got the look and the products that I used to get this look. I am going to try and keep this post as relatively short as possible, because we all know how I have been rambling on these past couple of weeks!

First, I started out with my trust Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream and applied a really liberal amount all over my face and down my neck, I then gave it a couple minutes to sink into the skin. Next to prime the skin I used a combination of two. I first went in with the Benefit Porefessional as normal, then over the top and just in areas where I needed it, I used the Cover FX Matte Primer. Again, I left time in between to let it sink into the skin. For foundation I used my RCMA VK Palette. With this palette I can not only apply a really highly pigmented foundation, I can also highlight and contour. I like to apply the RCMA foundations using my Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Brush and then I buff it into the skin using a damp Beauty Blender.

Still on with the base products, I then went in with my holy grail combination of the Tarte Shape Tape and the Nars Soft Matte Concealer. To start with I go in with the Tarte Shape Tape underneath my eyes to conceal, slightly in the centre of my head to highlight and the centre of my chin. I then take the same Beauty Blender as before I buff that in and press it into the skin. To finish my concealer, I like to take my Nars Soft Matte Concealer and apply that just in the area around my nose and I find that it really helps to blur my pores and make my skin much more flawless. To further contour on top of the RCMA crème foundations I used my favourite Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand and then pressed that in using my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge. Then to set everything in place I lightly bake under the eyes and powder the rest of my face using the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder.

Then onto the eyes, to start with I grabbed my most loved transition colour and that is Benefit Hoola. I like to take this on my MAC 217 blending brush and just blend that through the crease and slightly under my eyes. Then for a wash of colour over the eye lid I take my Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette, which is a really pretty gold shade. To top that, I then go in with the gold shade from the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette and it just helps to set the cream eyeshadow into place. To line the eyes, I didn’t want anything too dark, so I went for the MAC Kohl in Teddy which is a brown shade. For mascara it was my Lancôme Grandiose Mascara, which I know isn’t technically waterproof, but I didn’t have any issues with it. Finally, for my eyes I went in with Lilly Lashes in Miami which are a really nice and wispy pair.

For my brows I just used my favourite products, so I knew that they would come out looking exactly as I want them to. First of all, I went in with the Benefit Precisely My Brow Pencil and I drew in individual brow hairs to make my brows look fuller and more defined. Then I comb all of my brow hairs up using my Anastasia Brow Gel, to set them into place. To finish them off I like to use my Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade on a really precise angled brush and I go in and make small stroke motions to get my brows to look, full natural with a nice depth of colour. I love doing this because by the time I am finished, my brows look nice and defined but not overdone!

To finish my face, it is time to bronze, sculpt and blush. To start with I like to go in with a nice light bronzer which kind of acts like a transition shade. My personal favourite is the Too Faced Sweet Heart Bronzer, especially when I pair it with my Tom Ford Bronzer Brush. Then to deepen the bronzer ever so slightly in certain area I go in with my Real Techniques Contour Brush and the Nars Laguna Bronzer. I take this just on the very high points of my cheeks, slightly on my cheeks and then my jawline. When I am finished bronzing I will highlight. We all know I’m not a huge fan of highlighter, so I just used my trusty Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Palette in the highlight on the tops of my cheekbones and brow bone ever so lightly. Next, I used my Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder right into the hallows of my cheeks and the to top it all off I used my Charlotte Tilbury Sex on Fire Blush on the apples of my cheeks.

To top the whole, look off and finish my makeup was my lips. I kept it really nice and neutral. To start with I went in with the Gerard Cosmetics Lip Liner in Nude. I then topped that with the good old MAC lipstick in Faux with just a touch of MAC clear gloss over the top. The to finish everything I spritzed my face using my MAC Fix +, I find that doing this just helps my liquids and powders gel together.

As normal, I will leave a link down below to everything that I have mentioned down below in case you want to check any of them out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your makeup favourites are when you want a long-lasting makeup look!

  2. Congratulations to your sister, the wedding must have been such a special day for all of you and one that you all will cherish for the rest of your lives. However, makeup that lasts almost 24 hours? I seriously have to try this out. You've already mentioned products I have or have heard fabulous reviews about so I don't doubt that this is one look that will not only last long but remain flawless. The Hoola Bronzer, and Laura Mercier powder are holy grail products of mine. I've been wanting to try the Nars concealer and RMS highlighter for a while now. Looks like a trip to Sephora is now in my agenda! I think I need to get a hand on some of the Charlotte Tilbury products too! I still can't believe that I've only tried her lip products – I know, crazy ;) A recommendation I have for you is the Marc Jacobs Air Flush Blushes, they are my holy grail and my favorite shade is Flush and Fantasy!

  4. Sounds like an amazing roster of products! I love the shape tape, although it can be slightly drying on my skin type, so I only wear it during short periods of time. The Hoola looks like an amazing bronzer, although it annoys me that they don't make it dark enough for deeper skin tones. Ah, yes, you've got to rely on the OG fix + for a long lasting effect - I carry one around with me at all times! Wonderful post! x

    1. I know exactly what you mean, I would kill for a deeper Hoola. They are missing something major there!
