My June Favourites

As I write this blog post, I am laid in bed with my MacBook on my knee and a glass of prosecco in one hand. If you have been reading my blog posts for a while, you may know that on Friday as you are reading this post, I am being the maid of honour for my older sister. To say that I am nervous is beyond an understatement. I have just applied a light layer of my beloved Loving Tan Mousse and I am just letting that soak in and I thought what better way to take my mind off it, than with writing my June favourites, because these posts always take me such a long time to write. Plus, I feel like I have quite a lot of makeup products that I want to mention in this post.

I have been trying quite a bit of new makeup recently, but not many of them have made it into my favourites post for this month. I think the last time I did my favourites post, it was all old favourites in that one too. With the wedding, I haven’t really wanted to try out too much new makeup, too often, because I didn’t something to mess up my skin and create a hot mess just before the big day. So, I have been sticking to what I know and using what I know works well with my skin. I know that I will have mentioned most of these items so many times before, but I love all of them so much and they deserve more mentions!

I know that everybody is probably sick to death of me mentioning this foundation yet again, but I am still completely in love with it. I really cannot get enough of this Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation and that is why I carry on using it, again and again. From the moment that this Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation was released, I knew that I was going to love it. I bought it pretty much straight after it was released, and I have been using it pretty much every single day ever since. I am sure that you have heard so many people mention this foundation over the past couple of years, but I really do think that it deserves all of the attention that it gets because it is a really stunning stick foundation.

This is a really hydrating foundation stick that glides onto the face like pure silk. Because this is a lovely and hydrating foundation, it buffs into the skin so seamlessly and always look stunning whether I use a brush or a sponge. It has a lovely full coverage finish to this foundation which easily covers up all of my darkness and problem areas. No matter what concealers, contour or powders I pair this foundation with it always looks truly stunning. I have gone through so many of these over the years and even though they are pricey for the amount of product that you get in the stick, I think that they are really worth the money and that is why I continue to buy and use these foundations.

I was wondering through House of Fraser the other day and I passed by the MAC store and I decided to go in and have a look around. Then I saw this Fix + just sitting there and I decided to give it another try. I used to have this stuff years ago and I can remember at the time really loving it and I was gutted when it ran out. But, for whatever reason I never repurchased another. But, recently with how oily my skin has been looking I have been powdering quite heavily, so I thought this might be just the product to bring some life back into my face once I have set using powder. So, I took it home and used it for around a week and I completely fell in love with the stuff, god knows why I didn’t repurchase.

Like I have mentioned a couple times over the past few weeks, my skin has been a little oilier than usual. It may be the weather, it may just be my skin, but something has been off. So, to try and stop this I have been going in quite heavy with the setting powder, which seems to do the job. The only thing then is that I feel like I am wearing a tonne of powder and I feel like it is quite visible on the skin. That is where this MAC Fix + comes into play. When I am done with my base makeup before I move onto my eyes, I will just lightly spritz this onto my face and it just seems to bind my powder in with my foundation and make my makeup look much more natural. I love this stuff and it is so good for the low-price tag!

I bought this bad boy on the first day that it was released because as we all know, I am a sucker for Charlotte Tilbury makeup products. She could literally release a rock in a box and I would still pay £60 to own it. I think it is just the way she talks about her products, I don’t even have to see them to want to buy them. But, when this was first released, and I saw all of the teasers on her Instagram and other social media I knew that I had to try it out. It wasn’t until this was actually on her website that I saw it had a £60 price tag and I was a little weary about it. But, of course I have zero willpower and I bought it anyway and I am so bloody glad that I did.

I said in my review of this palette that there are undoubtedly other eyeshadow products out there on the market that are of a similar quality, with a similar number of shadows. I have found myself reaching for this hell of a lot more often than I initially thought that I would. The quality of this is just second to none. The shadows are all really pigmented and blend in really nicely. You can create so many looks from this one palette and it is perfect for travelling with. Not to mention that the vintage looking packaging is simply to die for and I am completely in love with them. I know that this is a really expensive eyeshadow palette, but this is well worth the money!

If you have read my blog from the very beginning, then you will know about my obsession with the MAC Full Coverage Crème Foundation. I first heard about this foundation because of Wayne Goss on YouTube. Back when I first started buying this foundation it was a pro product, so you could only pick it up in pro stores, or over the phone. I have used this foundation for years now and it is just incredibly quality. Luckily, you can now buy this on the normal MAC cosmetics website under the pro section, but I have to admit that I did used to love it just been exclusive to pro members, it made me feel part of the in crew!

Like I said, I have used this foundation for years now and I still love it just as much as I did back then when I first started to use it. The quality is just so incredible, I can apply this first thing in a morning and it will still be in place and looking just as good as when I first applied it at the start of the day. My favourite way to apply this foundation is to put it onto my face using the Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Brush and then I will go in with my damp Beauty Blender and push it into the skin. I love this stuff and I think I own it in around 10 different shades just because I love it so much. I even keep one of these in my handbag with a puff, so that I can touch up on the go if I need to.

Does this concealer need an introduction anywhere on the internet? I feel like this is so well known and still so incredibly popular that I don’t even have to mention it in a favourite post for people to know that I love this stuff. I am sure I have told the story here on my blog before, but when this was first released, I really wasn’t that bothered about trying it out. From what I had heard, it was like gold dust to get here in the UK and the only way to get it was to pay over the odds in shipping and taxes, or pay through the nose to buy it from QVC who seemed to be the only people selling it here in the UK. Christ knows why they wanted to sign an exclusivity deal with Ulta in the US to sell this concealer, but it irritates the living daylight out of me.

In the end, I bought this directly from Tarte when they were having a free shipping weekend and luckily, I got this for little over £20 including shipping and taxes. All you need to know about this product is that I am in love with it. It is so creamy and pigmented, it blends out like a dream and looks so stunning on the skin. I have darkness underneath my eyes and this just covers everything so perfectly. When I am getting ready I don’t think twice about reaching for this. I have countless concealers in my collection, but this is the only one that I just grab for all of the time. I just need to build up a stock of this because as soon as I start to run low I start to panic!

Does this foundation really need any kind of introduction? I actually think I mentioned this in a post the other day because I have been loving it that much over this past month. I first bought this foundation so many years ago. It was actually just as I was started to get into makeup professionally. I bought this foundation well before the Kardashian craze for it began. Then once Mario started using it on Kim, it became near on impossible for me to pick it up because I am the same shade as her and everybody for some unbeknown reason started to buy it. It wasn’t until the craze had started to die down a little but that I could get my hands on it again and I really fell in love with it.

I was the same with this foundation as I was the Nars Sheer Glow to begin with. As much as I wanted to try it out, I thought with it been a luminous foundation on my oily skin, I thought I would look like a hot mess. When I tried it, I realised that wasn’t the case at all. This has an incredibly finish and great staying power on the skin. This is a luminous finish foundation, but it makes you look healthy and glowing and not at all oily like, so many foundations can do. My only bugbear with this foundation is that I am kind of in-between shades in it and I feel like I have never got the perfect match with this, but I really love it!

I feel like this foundation constantly comes in and out of my favourites. I think I first tried this foundation stick out in 2015 and I fell in love with it almost straight away. I had seen a few people talking about this and it just peaked my interest, so naturally I had to put in one of my extortionate orders at House of Fraser and bought a couple of these. I went straight in and bought a normal foundation, a lighter one to highlight with and then a deeper one to contour my face with. After just a couple of uses I fell completely in love with the contour shade because it made my skin look like utter perfection when I reached for it and I am still obsessed with it now, which is why I am mentioning it in this post!

With this been a stick product, it is so easy to use. I normally just go in and draw lines on my forehead, down the sides of my nose, under my cheekbones and then my jawline. I will blend it out either with my trusty MAC 130 brush or a damp Beauty Blender. No matter how I use this Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick to contour with, or what products I pair with it, I find that it always looks really perfect on the skin. When I set this stuff with powder it will stay in place all day long. I love reaching for this and it is a great product. Plus, with this being the size of a normal stick foundation, just this one stick lasts you for such a long time with regular use!

It may be strange for me to be mentioning this Laura Mercier Translucent Powder because I have made no secret about how much I love the RCMA No Colour Powder. This past month with it being my sister’s wedding, I decided to bust out this old favourite. The reason why I went for this Laura Mercier Powder over my beloved RCMA was because of flashback. I am sure that I’ve said it before, but the RCMA can cause flashback, especially if you bake with it. This isn’t a problem I find when I use the Laura Mercier, even if I really pack it on, which is why it was perfect for my sister’s wedding weekend.

I did not only my own makeup for the big day, but my sisters who was getting married and the other bridesmaids and I used this on everybody and their makeup looked perfection and lasted them all day. I did need to touch up slightly throughout the day, but that is nothing new for me and my oily skin. The way this made my skin look was just so incredibly smooth. I also really love how this glides onto the skin, it really does feel like silk. Even though I know that I am going to go back to using the RCMA because it makes sense for an everyday basis, I know that I am going to make sure that I have one of these powders in my drawer.

As I have told you guys so much over the past couple of weeks, I am really trying to look after my skin at the moment. I want to get to a stage where I feel like I am confident with my own skin to be able to go to work without any foundation. By taking small steps to look after my skin more, I am seeing big changes and improvements. And, that this where this Clinique Take the Day Balm has been coming into play. I bought this after seeing so many people using it and loving it to take their makeup off with, and I knew that I wanted to give it a try for myself.

When I get in from work I sit myself down at my vanity and start the long and amazing process of taking my makeup off. I say amazing because I love nothing more than taking it off at the end of the day. Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing the stuff, but being able to rub my face is something that I miss when I have a full face on. What I like to do is just take some of this Clinique Balm on my fingers and warm it up slightly in-between my fingertips and I then start to rub it into my face. Instantly, you can start to see all of the makeup on my face start to break down. I then just wipe it away using a hot wash cloth.

Now onto the final thing that I’m going to mention in my June Favourites and probably one of my favourite favourites. I have had this cream for around a year and even though I did like it and it made my skin feel nice and soft, I feel like I haven’t been obsessed with it up until now. I go in with this cream three times a day, once in the morning, around 5pm when I am removing my makeup and then again before bed. Not only have I noticed in how my skin, but also in how it is looking. And like I said earlier, the ultimate goal is to be able to go to work with no foundation and I feel with this Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream I will be able to.

I know that this moisturiser is a little more on the expensive side of things, but I really believe that you get what you pay for. When you hear Charlotte Tilbury herself talk about this moisturiser she makes it sound like this stuff could literally save your life, the way she talks it up, but good on her because it completely sold me on it. I think I paid £70 for this tub and I honestly think that it is well worth the money. I even think that next time I am just going to go ahead and buy the super-sized tub because I really love it that much!

So, there you have it my June Favourites. I know I haven’t included very many new things in this post, but I am still being a little angel when it comes to spending money, or at least trying to be. As normal, I will leave links down below to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to check them out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what you have been loving through June!

  5. I can't believe I've never heard about that Mac Crème foundation! If I'm right, you do have oily skin, right? So would you recommend it for that type of skin then? Curious, as I'm always hesitant for cream products, I can never tell in advance how they will work on my oily skin!

  6. Such great tried and tested products and I hope you had a great time! I recently bought the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and agree it is lovely however I may need to go a shade darker so will probably order this in medium. It is frustrating to order online for sure when you can't swatch!
