Tarte x Aspyn Ovard Palette Review

I am not normally the kind of person that gets swept up with the launch of a new makeup item, especially when it is an influencer collaboration, but when I saw this Tarte x Aspyn palette, I knew that I was going to have to pick it up and try it out for myself. This is actually one of only four eyeshadow palettes that I have in my makeup collection, so that just really shows how much I loved the look of this palette and how much I wanted to try it out. I had seen this mentioned on Tartes Instagram page and I couldn’t deny that it looked absolutely stunning, but it wasn’t until I actually started watching makeup tutorials where this palette was being used that I knew that I was going to have to treat myself to this palette. Plus, Aspyn just seems like the loveliest girl and I watch her videos with her husband Parker all of the time and I don’t mind lining their pockets with my money!

The main reason why I wanted to pick this palette up was because next week I am a maid of honour for my sister and not only am I doing my own makeup on the big day, I am also doing my sisters bridal makeup. When I looked at this palette, I thought that it looked like a brilliant all in one solution that I could use to create both of our eye looks without having to take loads of different products to the hotel where we are going to be getting ready. Plus, I had seen Stephanie Ledda use this in a bridal makeup tutorial and her eye look was absolutely stunning, yet super simple so I knew this was going to be the product for me. I think before I even got to the end of the video I had already gone through the whole checkout process and picked myself up this palette!

I think the first thing that I actually need to speak about in this Tarte x Aspyn palette review is in fact the packaging. As you can probably see from the pictures in this blog post, this is actually in fact the most stunning makeup item that I think I have ever owned. The overall look of the palette is just so pretty, and I think that it fits the whole aesthetic of Aspyn herself absolutely perfectly. Even if this wasn’t a collaboration with Aspyn, I think that I would probably have had to buy this just got the look of the palette alone without looking into any of the shades or if I had an actual use for this in my makeup collection. This feels and looks like a very high-quality palette and I am so glad that I picked it up for the packaging alone!

Now actually onto the shades, I have one word and that is perfection. Within this palette I can create a whole range of very natural looking eye looks and that is exactly what I am looking for, especially for wedding season. You have a whole range of shades including a light wash of colour, various transition shades and some lovely shimmers. Within this palette you also get a lovely light blush that is a great wash of colour and a stunning highlighter that makes a perfect inner corner highlight. Honestly, with the shades in this palette, I don’t think that you do need to reach for another palette, because all of the shades are right there and absolutely stunning. I have seen a couple people mentioning that they wish there was a black in the palette, but that really doesn’t concern me because I incredibly rarely use a black matte shower personally.

When I started using this Tarte x Aspyn palette I found that all of the shades were beautifully pigmented and swatched like an absolute dream. They have great colour pay off, yet at the same time, they aren’t too intense that you have to worry about making a mess. With any makeup look, I like to work in small manageable layers and I find that this palette works perfectly for me. Compared with some of the other eyeshadow palettes in my collection like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette or the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette, I think the quality matches up to those really well, which is why this has made home in my makeup collection.

In the run up to the wedding next week, I have been using this palette quite a lot so that I can get a feel for the shades and how they apply, blend and last. I have found that with this palette, I don’t even need to use an eyelid primer because the shadows just sit and last so well on the eyes. I can apply these shadows first thing in the morning and I know that 12 hours later when I am taking my makeup off that my makeup is still going to be in place and it is going to look as good as it did first thing in the morning when I first applied it. I have also found that this is the case with the blusher and highlighter that are also in the palette.

There really isn’t much more that I can say about this Tarte palette. I think that the quality is absolutely beautiful. The shades are to die for and look so beautiful. With this one palette you can create a whole array of natural looking eye looks and that is why I am completely smitten with this palette. If you have tried this out, make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what you thought about it!

  9. If I would get it, I honestly would only purchase it for the pretty packaging! I have loads of neutral colours like that in my collection and i really don't need another standard neutrals palette. But if you don't have an overload of eyeshadow palettes (like me), I get why you'd be drawn to this ;-) looks amazing in pictures though!

How do you get hold of Tarte products in the UK? Is that via QVC?
