My May Favourites

How the hell are we already in June. I feel like this year is just flying by so quickly. I always find that time seems to go by quickly, when you want it to go slowly, and I want it to go slowly because that means that we are getting closer to my sister’s wedding. Some of you may already know that I am maid of honour for my sister the first week in July and I am terrified. I hate been the centre of attention, so walking down an aisle and having to make a speech is my worst nightmare. In May I held her hen party and to start with I was bricking it to say the least, but I just made sure that I maintained a level of drunkenness throughout the whole weekend and I felt much better.

Because of the wedding, hen party and the holidays that I have booked, this past month I have been quite strict on my spending ban. I am sure that everything that I am going to mention in this post are some of my old favourites and there isn’t really anything new included in this. When I have to be, I can be quite disciplined when it comes to spending. Not to mention that I have been wanting to stick to products that I know because I don’t want to try out too many new things and my skin play up just before the wedding. Anyway, without any more rambling on, here are my May favourites…

When I first tried out this product, I didn’t know if I was going to love it. I saw this all over social media and that is the only reason why I bought it. I am sure you have all seen them mini tutorials where people use this, and they let it drop down their face before they blend in. I didn’t really want to try it out and it didn’t bother me, then I saw my main gal Casey Holmes using it and I knew that I had to try it out. One of my biggest things was that I didn’t think it would work for my oily skin, and a rule of thumb is that if she likes something, I tend to like it too. So, this went on my wishlist and I wanted to try it. I just didn’t know if it was going to be worth the £50 price tag, which is quite steep for a beauty elixir.

When I got this, and started to have a play with it, I quickly found out that this isn’t really made to be a primer as I first thought. I really like to apply this before I go in with my primer. I tend to add just a small amount onto my fingertips and I just massage it into the skin where I need a little additional moisture. I will then go in with my primer and foundation on top. I didn’t find that this made me any oiler than I normally am, it just helped to even out my complexion and make my skin look much healthier before I go in with my other products. I am wanting to try out some more beauty oils in the next couple of months to see if this is really worth the very high price tag… we shall see!

I know that I have mentioned this so many times since I started my blog out, but I just really love this foundation. Even though I have a drawer full of foundations, this is one of them stand out product that I know I can reach for at any time and I know that it is going to look really perfecting on the skin. This is such a cult classic product for a reason, because it is just a great quality foundation. The reason why I have been reaching for this so much throughout May is because I wanted to regulate my skincare and not use too many products and I just know that this works really well for my skin type.

This is a medium to full coverage, it really does depend on how heavy you go in with the product. Using my Beauty Blender, I can get a really light and comfortable medium coverage and with a buffing brush I can build that up to a full coverage. This is lovely and long lasting on the skin and looks perfect all-day long. It is a comfortable foundation to wear and I have never experienced any issues with it. Plus, I just have to say that now they have brought out a pump especially made for this foundation and bottle it makes me so bloody happy. This is just a great, reliable foundation to keep in your collection.

I have made no secret over the past year that I adore this Nars Soft Matte Concealer. I first saw Carli Bybel using this on her YouTube channel, months before it was released, and I was obsessed with it. I can remember it looking so smooth and perfecting on her skin, so the moment that it was released I logged onto the Space NK and treated myself to this amazing concealer. In the past year I have gone through 3 of these, which is quite a feat to say how many concealers I actually have in my collection and use quite often. I didn’t think that I could possibly love a concealer as much as my Tarte Shape Tape Concealer or the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer, but I really love this one.

What I really love about this concealer is how smooth it makes my skin looks. I apply this using my Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Brush to all of the areas that I usually highlight and conceal, which is underneath my eyes, down the bridge of my nose, the centre of my chin and my forehead and then I blend it out using a damp Beauty Blender. I find that my skin looks airbrushed whenever I use this product. Particularly the area around my nose I have quite enlarged pores and I feel like this just seems to blur them out completely. I love reaching for this product and I think it really nice in photography.

I know that I have mention this RCMA No Colour Powder in so many posts since I started using it, but I adore this powder. I have spoken many times about this being incredibly value for money, but I truly believe that there isn’t another powder on the market that quite does what this one does, for the incredible price tag. I am a girl with oily skin, so over the years I have tried out so many different setting powders and this is one that I constantly reach for on a daily basis and continue to repurchase the moment I start to run low. I know that for a lot of people the packaging is quite a sticking point, but I just pour some in an old MAC pot and I am good to go.

I have used this powder for years now and I have never had a bad experience with it. It keeps me matt all day long and only when I am rushing about do I need to top up with powder throughout the day. I feel like I just need to mention that you get nearly 90g of product in this tube, which is 3 times more than you get in the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. For any oily gals out there, who have to pile on the powder like I do, I don’t think there is any other powder out there better than this. Plus, when I press this on top of my creams and liquids using my damp Beauty Blender it sets my face, but keeps it looking light and healthy at the same time.

I know that this is a super pricey and slightly unnecessary makeup product, but I am so glad that I bought it. This went onto my wishlist a couple of years ago when I first saw it being splashed all over the place by YouTubers. The only thing that stopped me from buying it was the fact that it was so expensive. As much as I wanted to try it, at the time I just couldn’t justify spending that much money on a bronzer, when I already had ones in my collection that I really enjoyed using. In the end, I only bought this when they released the smaller one that was a little cheaper, and I am so glad that I did because I love it.

What I love so much about this bronzer is the tone of it. Because of the shade, this bronzer really does make you look like you have been naturally sun kissed. Then for the ultimate combination I use my Tom Ford Bronzer with my Tom Ford Bronzer brush and the two just work together so flawlessly. Just a light dusting of this makes you skin look so pretty, and it makes your glow look nice and natural, rather than just being caked up with bronzer. I have only been using this for a couple of months and I already think I am close to hitting pan because I have been reaching for this so often!

This has been a favourite of mine for such a long time. When I first bought this mascara, it was a completely random purchase, I don’t even think I had seen other people talking about this when I just went ahead and bought it. I just saw the stunning packaging and knew that I wanted to try it out for myself. I have tried out another few makeup items by YSL before and really loved everything, so I thought straight away that I would love this. As soon as I bought this and started to try it out, it quickly became my favourite mascara in my collection.

I will say that the first thing that I noticed about this mascara was that there was a very strong scent similar to most of the YSL beauty products, it isn’t something that bothers me personally, but I know that some people wouldn’t particularly like it. I feel like once it is applied to my eyes, soon after I can no longer smell it. This really lifts my lashes and helps to hold a curl really nicely. I have so many mascaras in my collection, but this is one that I reach for again and again. It is such a good quality and I think that it really deserves the high price tag. I know I have mentioned this so many times before, but this has been my go to product this past month.

Charlotte Tilbury Blusher in Sex on Fire
I am pretty sure that everybody already knows that I love this Charlotte Tilbury blush in Sex on Fire. I can remember when I first started seeing this ‘nipple’ blusher all over Pinterest and Instagram, I just knew I had to try it out for myself. The only thing that put me off to start with was the very high price tag. I don’t mind paying for quality, which is why I don’t quibble when I buy expensive brands like Tom Ford, but I thought £35 was a lot of money to pay for a blusher when I am much more of a bronzer kind of girl. Anyway, I bought this and completely fell in love with it and I have been using this one shade pretty much constantly.

What I love about this blusher is just how stunning it looks on the skin. I have quite a tanned/medium skin and I think this is the perfect shade for my skin tone. Another great thing about this blusher is that it is essentially two shades in one, so you can either do the swish and pop like CT suggests, or you can just use one of them. Since trying this out, I really want to try out more shades because I just think that the quality is second to none. The blendability of this is just so incredible and always looks so smooth and flawless on the skin.

Since I put up my review on this Too Faced Sweet Heart bronzer, it has made me realise that just enough people don’t use or know about this product. I think it was Casey Holmes that I first saw use this on YouTube and I thought it looked incredible and I had to try it out. When I bought this, I fell in love instantly before I even put my brush into the product. The packaging alone enough to make me fall in love with it. I didn’t really know what to expect when I first tried this out because I hadn’t tried much out by Too Faced at that stage, but I fell in love with this bronzer.

What is incredible about this bronzer is how it makes my skin look. This Too Faced Sweet Heart bronzer has a slight shimmer running through it, which when it is applied to the face makes it look really pretty and natural. As much as I like matte products, I think the face looks so much better when it has some dimension to it, and that is exactly what this bronzer does. When I use this I just swirl the deeper and the lighter shade together and it just makes the most perfect shade for my skin. I love using this and it he become a staple in my makeup bag. Not to mention that I have used this on so many people in the past few weeks and I think it looks great on so many skin tones.

I am sure that if you have been reading my blog for some time, or if you have me on Instagram, you will know that I have really big eyebrows. It is something that I used to hate when I was younger, so I used to pluck like crazy until my eyebrows looked like two thin lines. Obviously in this day and age it is all of the range to have natural brows, so when I let mine grow out, I had some sparse areas from where I’ve over plucked and that is why this brow pencil is my favourite thing in the whole and entire world. I have used other brow pencils before, but nothing is quite as good as this one.

What I really love about this product is just how pigmented and creamy it is. This just glides onto the skin so smoothly and look like perfection. What I have really enjoyed about this is that it makes my brows look so full and feathery. I tend to just go in with this in the really sparse areas and just by applying different amounts of pressure I can make it look really nice and natural. I know that I have raved about this over the past couple of months, but I genuinely do love this product. I have even bought this in a couple of shades so that I can create a full and natural look.

When this Charlotte Tilbury lipstick was first released, I had to try it out. I saw the name and the shade, and I just knew that it was going to be perfect for me. Basically, anything that is Cindy Crawford inspired, then I know for a fact that I’m going to love it. This has quickly become one of my favourite lipsticks over the past year or so. It is tight competition between this and the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, but I would say that this one ever so slightly takes the crown. I know that some of you will already know that I am obsessed with all Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks.

One of my favourite things about this lipstick in the shade Super Cindy is that it sits so nicely on my lips. This is part of her Hot Lips collection, that is pretty matte on the lips, but not quite as matte or drying as her Matte Revolution range of lipsticks. I always think that my lip colour look so pretty on my lips and it is really close to my natural lip shade. If she ever announced that she was going to discontinue this lipstick I would honestly have to log onto her website and stock up on this. Just for comparison I would have to say that this really closely matches MAC Velvet Teddy.

I know that I am mentioning this perfume yet again, but for this past month, I have found myself reaching for it more or less all of the time. For those of you who has read my blog over the past year, you will know that I bought this towards the end of last year and I fell in love with it. But, that being said, it isn’t really a winter kind of perfume, but not the summer months are slightly creeping up on us, I thought that it was time to bust this bad boy back out and I have been really enjoying it over the past couple of months.

What I love about this scent is just that it is such a classic summer scent. It is really light and airy and reminds me of the summer months. I would say that this is quite similar as the Chanel Mademoiselle. When I first went ahead and bought this I just went for the biggest size bottle because I knew I was going to love it and I am so glad that I did. I have even gone and bought a smaller 30ml version, so I can keep it in my car and spritz it whenever I get out. Because of this perfume, over the past month I haven’t even reached for my Chanel No5!

Like I said, there isn’t very many new products in this, but I have been loving all of these this past month. Most of these are products that I have owned for years and I know that they work really well with my skin and most importantly aren’t going to cause me to break out. Anyway, as normal with all of my posts, I will leave a link down below to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to try anything out. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know some of the products that you’ve been loving throughout May!

  3. Oh my, some wonderful high end products here - I love a may favourites post and this one had me from the beginning! I need to pick up the Farsali (I've seen it way too much on Insta and Youtube to not give it a go) and the YSL shocking mascara - YSL rarely get beauty products wrong so I reckon I'd love that. The double wear is, although expensive, a holy grail for me too - it just lasts so long! Great post! x

    1. I really couldn’t recommend the Farsali Unicorn Essenes anymore!
When I bought it, I thought that it would be a little bit of a gimmick, but it hydrates the skin like nothing else!

  5. I adore that RCMA no color powder! It's so incredible! Not only is it finally mill but for under the eyes it isn't drying! Yes the packaging sticks, I also use an old setting powder that is since emptied and everytime I use the RCMA powder I just tip some of it into that other packaging. I do wish they just fixed their packaging from now though.

  9. I've been dying to try out the CT blushes, but like you said, haven't been able to justify the price yet. I rarely change up my blush tbh, so I might try to go through some of them first.

I can't believe I've still not tried the Double Wear foundation myself! It's such a cult classic!
