My Favourite Items In My Wardrobe

Today's blog post is going to be all about some of my favourite items from my closet. Over the years, I have built up a ridiculous amount of clothes in my closet and I have to be honest and say that I love every single item. I am very good when it comes to organising the clothes in my closet, I never hang onto things that I no longer wear, and I even have an app that can show me everything in my closet and tell me how many times I have worn them. I was organising it all a little the other day and it gave me an idea to share with you guys that I find myself reaching for and wearing all of the time.

Fashion is such a massive part of my life. I know that my blog is primarily about makeup and beauty, but over the past couple of months I have really enjoyed bringing more fashion into my blog. I just think that it is so amazing how a good outfit or a stunning pair of shoes can make you feel. When I have on a new outfit that fits like a glove and makes me feel confident, I really feel like I could take on the world. And it is for that reason that I thought I would share this post with you today…

Band T-Shirts
I had to start out this post with my latest obsession which is band t-shirts. I love a good band t-shirt and I have so many of them hanging in my closet. I just can't seem to get enough of them at the moment, I just love how effortless and grungy they look and that is my kind of style. I will buy these if I see them new in store, but I also like to buy vintage ones online because I feel like they just look the part a little more. Not to mention that I love older rock bands so when I wear band t-shirts, I actually support the artists that are on them and love their music. It really does annoy me when people wear a Metallica t-shirt and they couldn’t even name me one of their songs!

I have a whole variety of band t-shirts hanging in my closet and they are all of my favourite artists. To make sure that I got a t-shirt of all my favourites I even made a list at one point and when I got the vintage t-shirt for them, they got crossed off and I started hunting for the next one. I love to pair these jeans with my skinny jeans, a leather jacket and a pair of ankle boots. Or if it is summer and too warm to wear jeans I will pop them on with a denim mini skirt and a pair of Vans and I am good to go about my day. I just think that band t-shirts are so much more interesting than a plain top and just give your outfit something so much more!

Skinny Jeans
I know that jeans are probably quite a boring thing to mention in this post, but they are just a staple item that I feel I have to have in my closet. Over the years I have gone through phases with the style of jeans that I like whether it be flares, boyfriend sit, straight cut, but no matter what, the one style that I always opt for and rely on are my skinny jeans. Most days when I’m not at work, I will reach for a pair of my skinny jeans. I have so many pairs of them that it is bordering on a little crazy, but I love them, and I love them all for different reasons. I just think that they pair well with any outfit and any shoes, which is very important to me.

I have quite a few different pairs of skinny jeans that I really like to wear and that are lovely and comfortable. I love skinny jeans from ASOS, Topshop, All Saints and then for my splurge pair I have some from Acne that are just out of this world. For an everyday basis especially if I am just rushing around I will opt for my ASOS pair. They are a lovely quality, super comfortable and a great price. I think that the ASOS pair rival the quality of the Topshop jeans. These are just such a staple of my everyday wardrobe and I love them still.

Leather Jacket
I couldn’t write this post without at least mentioning my love for leather jackets at least once. Everybody who knows me knows that I am never far from a leather jacket, they are always my outerwear of choice. I have a whole section in my closet that is dedicated to nothing but leather jackets. I will either throw on a leather jacket with a band t-shirt and a pair of skinny jeans, or I will go the other side and pair it with a really feminine dress to make it more masculine and a little grungier. As soon as the super cold winter weather has passed, this is what I wear throughout the whole year.

I have two leather jackets in particular that I absolutely love, and I wear throughout the whole year. I have a thicker leather jacket that I bought from Saint Laurent in the sales and it is out of this world. It is quite a heavy-duty leather jacket and it keeps me lovely and warm throughout the cooler months. Then for when the weather heats up a little and I want something lighter I have a leather jacket from All Saints which is a stunning cropped jacket that pairs really nicely with dresses and skirts. It is a perfect jacket to carry around with me on summer days in case it drops a little cooler.

Tea Dresses
These have become a firm favourite of mine over the last year. I have never really been much of a dress wearing kind of girl until I discovered these dresses. I think I feel for these dresses hard just because of how truly stunning they are. Whenever I see a tea dress either in a store or online, I obsess about it until I own it.  There is just something so pretty and feminine about this style of dress that really entices me and makes me want to own them. This summer they haven’t been off my back as of yet and I adore how they look. They are just such a quick and easy choice when I am getting ready in a morning, not to mention so effortless and stunning.

I have got loads of these dresses from ASOS, Topshop and other high-street places and I adore them. I tend to wear these dresses most days whether I am just nipping out of the house or even going to work because I work somewhere that is lovely and relaxed. I love to pair these really elegant dresses with masculine accessories, such as a big black bag or my Louis Vuitton Biker Boots, and I feel like it just makes me feel much more comfortable and like myself. I will even pop something as simple as a pair of Vans on with these and it brings them back down to my level, but they are most definitely a favourite of mine!

Trench Coat
This is something that I had to mention because it is something that I really am completely obsessed with. A Trench Coat is such a classic item and I just adore how they look. I had wanted a trench coat for quite a while, but it was just trying to find the right one that I really loved and that fit really nicely. I feel like Trench Coats are such a timeless item and they are a perfect addition to a capsule wardrobe where you are trying to build up a collection of classic items. I wear Trench Coats half to death in the cooler months because they are such a chic and stylish way of layering up.

I have two Trench Coats in my collection at the moment that I am really in love with. The first one that I want to mention is my baby from Burberry. I had always wanted a Burberry Trench Coat, but I had put off from buying it for such a long time because of the heavy price tag. In the end, I just threw caution to the wind and decided to treat myself. The quality is out of this world and I am so happy that I bought it. Then I also have a lighter weight on that I got from the brand Religion. This one was significantly cheaper than the Burberry at only £140, but the quality is still beautiful, and it is lovely.

Cashmere Jumpers
I have been in love with cashmere jumpers since last winter and it is a trend that I cannot wait to bust back out when the weather starts to get a little cooler. I used to think that there couldn’t be that much of a difference between cashmere jumpers and normal jumpers, once I tried them out for myself I realised just how much difference there was. There is nothing that quite compares to the comfort, warmth and softness of a real cashmere jumpers. Over the past year I have built up a little collection of cashmere jumpers in all different colours and I absolutely adore every single one of them.

I bought mine from John Lewis after seeing them mentioned in Lydia Millens YouTube videos. She always used to wear them and spoke about how lovely they were, so I decided to splurge and treat myself to one and my obsession has quickly spiralled out of control. I wear these jumpers with a whole array of outfits, whether it be a pair of leather trousers, or even a denim mini skirt. I feel like the quality of these jumpers is so impressive, it makes any outfit that I pair them with look well put together. These do start from £79 on the John Lewis website, but I think that they are well worth every single penny.

Tan Leather Sandals
When it comes to summer shoes, I do struggle with them a touch. I think it is just because I’m not an overly summery kind of person. That is why I go for something that is pretty neutral and that I can pair with a whole array of summery outfits. My go to sandals through the summer months and that I have been living in constantly over the past couple of weeks are a simple pair of tan sandals. I never opt for anything fancy and that is why these are so perfect for me. Not to mention that if you get a really nice quality pair they will see you through so many summers and still look incredible.

I got my pair from Dune in the sale last year and I think it is safe to say that I have got my money's worth out of them over the past 12 months. I even took these with me to Rome and Florence last year and I wore them every single day and walked miles in them and they are still like new. I love that the tan leather on them starts to look more aged and slightly more lived in. I think a pair of tanned sandals is just such a staple to keep in your closet because they are a classic item that will always be in fashion, which is why I didn’t mind paying £50 for my pair from Dune.

Thigh High Boots
This is a trend that it took me a while to hop on board with. I always adored how thigh high boots looked on other people, but I just didn’t know if they would suit me and my style. After trying them out for the first time, I fell madly in love with them and I have now got a very good collection of thigh high boots going on. When these first got popular the other year, I thought it would be one of those fleeting things, but they are here, and I really do feel like they are here to stay, and I am very glad about that after how much money I have spent on them over the past couple of years!

Like I said, I have quite a few pairs of thigh high boots now and I have some stand out favourites that I find myself reaching for more than others. My top pairs by a mile have to be the Stuart Weitzman Highland Boots. These boots have seen me through a couple winters now and they are just perfect. They are super comfortable to walk in and not to mention that they always look stunning. I have then in more than one colour now and they go so well with every outfit whether it be a going out outfit or just something more relaxed with a pair of my favourite skinny jeans. I can see myself wearing these boots for a very long time indeed.

Pencil Skirts
Pencil skirts are an item that I am completely in love with and I wear them half to death. I think a pencil skirt is such a style staple and they are just classically stunning. I wear them to almost any occasion whether it be out for drinks and even to work, they are just such a beautiful style of skirt. Over the last couple of years, I have built up a good collection of pencil skirts and I have them in every colour under the sun and in so many different cuts and lengths. I love how they have the ability to show off your figure and curves, but at the same time cover 80% of your legs, they are very subtle and sexy.

Most of my pencil skirts are from ASOS. They seem to have such a good collection and they look really nice on. Many of them are in the jersey stretchy fabric that I think is great for an everyday kind of basis when I am just working in the office. They still allow me to move freely because of the jersey fabric, but they are nice quality and last really well. I also have some that are more of a fitted style that look much more tailored, these are my choice for when I opt for them on a night out whether I am heading out for a meal with my family or even drinks with the girls. To me a pencil skirt is just such a timeless item and one that I get so much wear out of.

There you have it, all of my favourite items. To be honest, as I sit here and round up this post, there is so much more that I could have mentioned. Fashion really is one of my biggest obsessions and I am so happy to now be talking about it here on my blog. I have left some links above to the items that I have mentioned in case you want to check anything out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your favourite items are in your wardrobe.

  1. That app sounds amazing! It tells you how many times you've worn something?! Do you mind me asking, what it's called? Leather jackets are such a staple piece, as they seem to go with everything. Having two is such a good idea xx
