Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer Review

If you have been a reader of my blog for a while, you may know that this isn’t my first rodeo with the Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. I have tried this little product out before, many years ago. Back then I bought this  in my usual foundation shade so that I could wear it all over the face or to conceal my blemishes. Even though back when I first bought it there was many benefits and I can remember enjoying it, this was one of them products that has just been pushed to the back of my drawer and forgotten about. But, I thought that I would give it another try and buy myself a new one to review for you guys.

This time around I went for a highlighting shade so that I can use it underneath my eyes to conceal my darkness and brighten the whole area, as well as other areas around my face. I have hell of a lot of darkness underneath my eyes at the moment thanks to sleepless nights and early mornings and I have been struggling to cover with my usual concealers. That is why I thought I would test drive this Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer because I can remember it been a product with ultimate coverage, it is pretty much a pot of pure pigment, so if anything is going to cover my darkness and do it well, it should be this bad boy.

When I got around to trying this Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer Concealer out, I quickly remembered one of the main reasons why I stopped using it to start with and that is the texture of this product. Because this concealer has such an amazing level of coverage, that means that the consistency and texture of the product has been somewhat compromised. Because of that, this is a very thick and tacky feeling product, which can mean that blending and creating a flawless base can be quite difficult.

I tried to apply this foundation how I usually would a concealer of this form. First, I apply to the face using my MAC concealer brush and then I will blend it into my foundation using a damp Beauty Blender. When I first applied this to my face with the brush, because of how thick the product is there was resistance from the brush and I feel like it is really dragging my skin. Then when I go in with my damp Beauty Blender I feel like it is that tacky feeling, that it still pulls my skin as I am trying to work it in.

The other way that I have been using this product is just by applying it using my fingers and I have really been enjoying how it has been looking. I tend to go in and highlight underneath my eyes using a medium coverage concealer such as the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer. Then to further cover my darkness which will be peaking through, I will go in with just a touch of my Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer. To get the best look with this product I like to pop some on the back of my hand to warm it up a touch and then using my ring finger I will just gently pat this into the areas where I need it. I find that doing it this way around works much more seamlessly because of the heat from my body warming the product up.

Another thing that I just want to mention is the price of the product and the amount that you get. I bought this from the Space NK website and I think it set me back around £40, which I know is hell of a lot of money to spend on a concealer. But, this small pot of product is something that will last for a very long time indeed. Because of how highly pigmented the product is, you only need the tiniest amount of product in order to get a full coverage look.

Now, onto the question that I really do have to ask myself and that is, would I recommend this product to other people?

Thinking about it, yes, I would recommend this Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, but not just as an everyday kind of product. I think this is a great addition to your makeup collection if you do have something to cover which requires something more full coverage and heavy duty than a normal everyday concealer. There are so many amazing full coverage products out there on the market at the minute, just think about the Tarte Shape Tape for example, but I have days where that just isn’t enough and that is where just the smallest touch of this comes into play. So, if you have something to cover such as darkness, scaring or acne then I think that this would be a great camouflage concealer for you. As an everyday under eye concealer I really don’t think that this would be the right product.

Since buying this Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer, I have found myself reaching for it on a regular basis. When I use this underneath my eyes, it hides everything that I need it to by just using the smallest amount of product. I really do like this and it has been a lifesaver recently when used in the right way. I will leave a link to this down below in case you want to check it out for yourself. 1. Exactly the same for me. I like to apply it to the areas that I want the extra coverage with a concealer brush and then I blend it in with a damp Beauty Blender!

  6. This sounds quite awesome! I love the idea of being able to essentially spot conceal. Some days I really feel like a simple base (such as a tinted moisturizer or CC cream) but my blemishes have other plans. This sounds like something I need to check out.
