My Favourite TV Programmes!

I don’t very often share personal things here on my blog. I have tried to open up a little on my blog over the years, but I never know where to draw the line. I have things in mind that I want to share with you guys, but at the same time, I don’t want my blog to turn into something where I just droan on about personal things all of the time, because this is predominantly a fashion and beauty blog and I want to keep it that way. But, to open up a little more to you guys, I thought that I would start out with something that allows you to get to know me a little more, without oversharing with you guys. This post is all about my favourite TV programmes.

I have told people quite openly on my blog before about my struggle with OCD. It is something that I have had for years now and as I get older it seems to intensify ever so slightly. My OCD does not give me a fear about germs like some people, to me it is about requiring order and structure to every single aspect of my life and because of this, my mind never seems to relax. I can be laid in bed at night and I feel like I have endless things just circulating around my head, I can never just give myself a moment to relax and chill out and that is where I turn to series. I don’t like watching live TV because adverts and having to wait a week for a new episode almost kills me, so on my iTunes, I have quite a library, full of my favourites…

The US Office
I don’t even know how many times I have watched all of this boxset over and over again these past couple of years. I can remember one day my mum made me sit down to watch the UK version of The Office and I hated it. I just didn’t find it very funny, so when I saw the US version on Netflix, I stayed well away from it. Then one day, I was in bed with a migraine and it was the first things that I clicked on. I loved it instantly that much that I watched the whole boxset within around 2 weeks which is pretty good going considering that I have a full-time job and there are nearly 200 episodes. Not to mention that I am in love with Jim from this programme, if you have watched it then you will understand. I still get annoyed that he is with Emily Blunt in real life and not Pam!

Sex and the City
My mum was the one that introduced me to Sex and the City. It was always her guilty pleasure TV programme and she always fancied herself as a little bit of a Charlotte kind of character. As I have gotten older, she has said that I am the Carrie to her Charlotte. I love that things in that programme are just relatable. The fashion though it astounds me, and I belly laugh at every single episode that I watch. I think it is just one of them programmes that I don’t think will ever get old. I think I am the only SATC fan out there that is glad that they haven’t come back for a third film, I think they should leave it while it is still incredible. I am still angry at Carrie though for not choosing Aidan Shaw in the first place, he was so much hotter than Big!

Will and Grace
I feel like Will and Grace is one of the most under-rated TV programmes ever. When I have tried to speak to people about it before, they just tend to look at me gone out like that have never heard of it. It is so bloody funny. It is about 2 gay men and 2 straight women, and it is just hilarious, there is nothing more than I can really say about it. I used to have all of these on DVD and I abused them, then when they released them all on iTunes I was doing hail Marys. If you haven’t seen this before, just check it out, it will have you laughing in no time. They have just gone back with a new series, but I haven’t watched any yet because I don’t want it to ruin the original!

Friends
I really don’t think that Friends will need any kind of introduction. I have watched Friends pretty much my whole life. When I was growing up my mum and dad would watch it, then when I was in my teens, I found a whole new kind of appreciation for it. Now that I am in my mid-twenties, I am obsessed with it. It is funny, touching, it will make you cry in places and it is just real life. It also makes me long to live in New York. I feel like no matter what kind of mood you are in, Friends is one of them programmes that can pull you out of it. I still have a soft spot for Ross even after all this time. Just for the record, they weren’t on a break.

Modern Family
I stumbled across Modern Family completely by accident. I was flicking through for something to watch and just happened to stumble across this. I watch this pretty much every single day. I have all of the seasons on my iPad and I always pop them on while I’m getting ready for work in a morning. It is pretty special when you actually get to see a group of kids growing up and it just makes me laugh. I am truly in love with Phil, me and him just seem to be the same person, which is pretty brilliant and worrying all at the same time. Even my boyfriend who hates TV series, will always sit down and watch Modern Family with me.

The Big Bang Theory
I can remember when this programme first came on the TV. I would sit and watch it for hours on end, then I would go to school the next day and try to talk about it to people and nobody would have a clue what I was harping on about. I feel like in these past few years this programme has just taken off and it is all well deserved. I could watch this all day long and never get bored of it. The nerd within me loves watching it and I honestly think that I could be friends with Sheldon Cooper. As I have got older watching this, I have taken a real likening to every single character in the series, even Howard. Such great TV and it always makes me laugh.

Decoded
This is by a mile, one of my favourite TV documentary programmes. I am a huge fan of factual programmes, that is the old history geek within me. So, when I saw this programme and started watching it, you can bet your bottom dollar that I fell completely in love with it. This is a programme about a man and his team who look into different things and try to get to the bottom of things. One episode they were on about the Vatican another was about the Statue of Liberty and so much more. I love this programme and even though I have seen all of the episodes so many times, I still love it just as much.

Mud Men
Now, I am, pretty sure that you won’t have heard of this programme, but I still feel like it was worth a mention. This was a programme that was on the H2 History channel about 5 or 6 years ago. It is about a team of people who go digging in the foreshores of the country while to tide is out to try and dig up history that has being lost to the water. The presenter of the programme is Johnny Vaughn, who is a TV presenter here in the UK and it is just a great programme. It is factual and funny all at the same time. I don’t think you can watch this anymore, the only time I can watch this again is by my recordings on my Virgin box, but I love sitting down and watching it.

Parks and Recreation
This is the last boxset that I sat down and watched from start to finish, so I thought I would save it while last. I had heard about this programme a long time ago. People used to say that if I like the US Office, I would like this programme too. From the get go, I was obsessed with it. I just found it so funny and I literally loved every single character in it. Not to mention that you get to see Chris Pratt go from just being ok to super sexy. This is one of them boxsets that I can watch over and over again and never get bored of it. I just wish that they would make more of them. I think ‘Treat Yo Self’ day is the best thing to come out of this programme!

So, there you have it, some of my favourite programmes. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what your favourites series are, and I will check them out!
