My Favourite Concealers

Recently I have been trying to round up some of my favourite makeup products up and let you know what I think is the best of the best. I seem to review so many different makeup products here on my blog, so I imagine that it can be quite hard for people to know that things that I really love and constantly go back to, which is why I wanted to do a post, rounding up all of my favourite concealers. I love a good concealer, I have hell of a lot that I like to try and cover on my face, which is why I have a good concealer collection. Over the past couple of years, I have really collected concealers and built myself up a nice little collection, and I love every item for completely different reasons.

Even though my skin is pretty clear, and I don’t suffer from breakouts, I have still got some problem areas that I like to try and cover on a daily basis. I have hell of a lot of darkness underneath my eyes. It is a combination of stress and OCD, which means I very rarely get a good night’s sleep, so I need hell of a lot of coverage to try and hide all of the blue. I also have hyper pigmentation and sun damage on my right cheek. Comes from years of not looking after my skin properly, but I am on with a good skincare routine at the moment and I am seeing changes for the better, but it is just going to take some time. Anyway, without any further rambling on, here are my favourite concealers…

I feel like the whole world already knows about this Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, so I will try to keep this as short and sweet as possible. When I first saw this concealer being mentioned all over blogs and YouTube, I knew that I had to try it out straight away. It was a pain in the ass trying to find it though and get a good deal. Tarte sold this exclusively at Ulta in the US, which we cannot get here in the UK. The only places that you could buy this here in the UK was either QVC who charged an arm and a leg, or directly from Tarte where the shipping and import taxes made this a £50 concealer. In the end, I cheated the system and bought this when Tarte had a free shipping weekend, so I picked this up for just £22!

I don’t think that I have ever used a concealer that has quite as much coverage as this one. With just the smallest amount of this concealer, all of my darkness and blue around my eyes is completely covered, which is quite an accomplishment. Not to mention that the texture of this concealer is really nice and creamy, which is astounding to say the level of pigmentation that there in this product. The blendability is usually something that you have to sacrifice when it comes to high coverage products. If you haven’t tried this concealer out, I would just say go for it, but try and do it on the free shipping weekends from Tarte, they usually have them around American holidays.

This has been my go to foundation for such a long time. I think it was Jaclyn Hill that used to wear this concealer all of the time in her makeup tutorials and I was desperate to get my hands on it. The only thing that put me off from buying this for the longest time was that I had never tried any complexion products by Urban Decay before and I wasn’t that sure about it. I am a creature of habit, so I tend to stick for what I know, so I kept on talking myself out of buying this. In the end, I found myself walking around the Urban Decay store and I saw this and just knew that I had to buy it.

I think my favourite thing about this Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer is the incredibly flexible wand. More often than not, the wand on a concealer is quite stuff, which can be quite uncomfortable when you are applying it around your eyes. The wand on this concealer seems to curve to the contours of your face, and it just helps to glide the product onto the skin really nice and smoothly. The product itself is lovely and creamy, I would say that it is a medium coverage, but it can be built up to be nice and full. I use this with my damp Beauty Blender to buff it into the skin and it always looks so flawless on the skin.

This is such a cult classic Nars product that I feel like it doesn’t even need an introduction. Not to mention that I have spoken about this concealer more times then I care to mention here on my blog since I started this up. I have been using this now since it was first released, which must be a good 5 or 6 years at this stage. This product has such a good following and I honestly think that it is well deserved. I know that when I reach for this concealer my makeup is going to look perfection all day long. Plus, when I pair this Radiant Creamy Concealer with my all-time favourite Nars sheer Glow Foundation it is a match made in heaven. I love how the two products look together and it seems like other people do too.

I would say that this concealer is pretty medium coverage. In comparison to the Tarte Shape Tape that I mentioned earlier in this post, the coverage isn’t on the same level, but it does well at covering my challenging darkness. As the name of this concealer suggests it is a very radiant concealer in comparison to others that I have used. Don’t get me wrong, you aren’t going to have twinkling under eyes like Edward in Twilight, but it helps to give the face some dimension, rather than it is looking like a flat shape. My only criticism about this concealer is that when you pull the wand out of the tube, it doesn’t seem to have that much product on the doe-foot, but it isn’t anything that can’t be solved by dipping in a couple more times!

I feel like everybody needs a good drugstore concealer in their collection. Even though, I admittedly have hell of a lot more high-end concealers then I do drugstore, I love having one that I can reach for on a daily basis. I have tried to use more drugstore in my everyday routine, it kills me using pricey as hell products just to sit behind my desk all day and that is why I am obsessed with this product. This is a super creamy and blendable concealer, the coverage is good for a drugstore product, I would say that it is a medium coverage, which for an everyday basis is just what I need.

I find myself reaching for this concealer when I want to slightly lighten my face. I love to use this to highlight my face with. I normally just go in and highlight my face with the concealer that I am using underneath my eyes, but for down my nose, chin and the centre of my forehead, I don’t need to go in with a full coverage concealer, it just has to be something that is lighter and that is why I love this product. I am sure that when I buy this from Boots it only costs me around £5, which is virtually nothing for a concealer of this standard. I look forward to using this and I always love how my makeup turns out when I do.

I feel like this concealer doesn’t get any attention what so ever and I have no idea why. To be honest, I don’t even know how this concealer first ended up on my radar. I think it was from a couple of years ago in a YouTube video from Sazan, where a makeup artist recreated her wedding day makeup, and this was one of the items that she used. It looked bomb in the video and I had to go out and treat myself to it. Since then, I have been in love with it and trying to convince everybody into going out and trying it for themselves. I just honestly cannot believe that more people don’t rave about this because everything about it is just perfection.

The first thing that I love about this is the level of coverage, I would say that it is somewhere in-between medium and full coverage, but you can really sheer it out using a damp Beauty Blender. Because this has a slightly pink undertone to it, I find that it covers up the darkness around my eyes really well because it counteracts the blue tones really nicely. Another thing that I have noticed about this product is the longevity and how long this seems to last throughout the day. For the price of this Chanel concealer, I would expect it to be an outstanding product, and I honestly think that it is a stand-up product, which demands the high price point.

I had my eye on the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealers for such a long time before I finally got around to treating myself to one. In actual fact I wanted the big Bobbi Brown book of concealers and correctors, but when I saw that it cost around £250 I quickly decided to just get the one shade. I wanted this initially for just the area around my eyes, I wanted to pat this into the skin before I go in with foundation to try and combat some of the darkness before I go in with other products and give myself a blank canvas to work with. From the moment that I received it through the post, I was in love with it straight away.

What I like to do with this product is warm it up a touch with my finger and then just pat it into my skin where I need a little extra coverage. I even try and pop some of this on the top of my hyperpigmentation and sun damage and even though it doesn’t cover the area completely, it does sligh vcbn tly disguise it which helps so much when going in with my foundation. I just think that this is a great standard product for me to have in my collection because when I have an occasion where I want my makeup to look super flawless, I will just do this small extra step and it look so pretty. Since trying this out, I really want to try out more by Bobbi Brown.

I couldn’t do this post without mentioning my old favourite MAC Studio Fix Concealer. Back in the day, this was pretty much the only concealer I used for years and I think that it is still a great quality and reliable concealer to keep in my drawer. I don’t think that anybody can deny that this concealer gives incredibly coverage. I can remember when I was around 14, I watched a YouTube tutorial by Kandee Johnson and she used this in a look and I just had to have it. I literally had to beg my mum to get me this for Christmas, she was reluctant because I was 14 and had perfect skin at the time, but I am so bloody glad that she did.

Since then, I have always made sure that I have one of these in my collection. I like to use this in a similar way that I do the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. I go in with my ring finger and I warm the top of the product up and then pat it where I need some additional coverage. I have a light shade of this for the area around my eyes and then I even have a natural skin colour so that I can cover up any blemishes that I have, seen as though all of my concealers are lighter for highlighting with. I won’t talk any more about this product because I am sure that you’ve all heard this at some time, but it is just a great standard concealer to own!

As soon as I saw this to start appearing on YouTube, I knew this was going to be a concealer that I would be obsessed with. I saw Carli Bybel use this in a tutorial and at the time she said that it was by Nars and it hadn’t been released yet, but from just seeing how she used it and what it looked like, I knew I wanted to try it out straight away. But, it was bloody months before it was released, especially here in the UK, so I had to sit and bite my time until it was finally released. I think it was around 5 months until it went onto the Space NK website for me to try it out.

Literally the day it went live, I had to order it. I bought it in the same shade as my Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer which is Custard because it is great for my medium skin tone. Just as the name suggests this is a super soft and matte concealer. When I use this in a downwards triangle underneath my eyes, I feel like it smooths my skin out incredibly well and helps to hide and minimise my pores. This glides on the skin so flawlessly and blends out so beautifully into other makeup products. I know for a fact that my love affair with this concealer is going to carry on for a very long time indeed.

Finally, I feel like I need to mention this Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer. This has been one of the products that I have had in my makeup collection for such a long time, and one that I always repurchase. I had such a nightmare though when I first went into Boots to try and pick this up, I accidently bought the foundation version and it was bloody awful. So, for the longest time, I didn’t buy this thinking it would be the same as the foundation, but I was wrong, and I really wish that I had bought it sooner. This concealer is such incredibly quality and matched up really nicely to my higher end products.

The only thing that I don’t really love about this concealer is the sponge tip applicator, and I know that hell of a lot of other people feel the same as me about that. But at the same time, I think that I kind of adds to the charm of the product, I don’t think that this would feel the same without that applicator. The coverage that this gives is really nice and covers my darkness well. The texture is lovely and creamy which makes it blend out really flawlessly into any foundation that you already have on. This is a great drugstore concealer and one I think that you need to try out.

So, there you have it, all of my favourite concealers. I have such a huge concealer collection and that is because I love to see the difference that it makes to my skin with just the smallest amount of concealer. I always spend most of my time and effort focusing on my skin and making it look flawless and that is why I have accumulated myself this lovely little collection of favourites. As normal with all posts here on my blog, I will leave a link down below to all of the items that I’ve mentioned in case you want to check them out. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what concealers you’ve been loving recently.

  12. We are so much alike when it comes to our skin concerns and bases we love, I will therefor always trust your opinion on them from now on! ;-)
I've tried some of these, like the Nars pot concealer, the Urban Decay Nakes Skin, the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer, both of the Maybelline ones... Although it's been ages since I've picked up a Fit Me! concealer. The Urban Decay one is such a good'un, but I've been trying out so many others I've sort of forgotten about it. I must pick up a new one soon, as I love that one!

Plus, again, that photography is on point! You're doing so well ;-)
