My Most Reached For Makeup Products

I thought that for my blog post today, I would let you guys know about the makeup product that I reach for the most out of my whole makeup collection. I tend to try and keep you guys up to date with my makeup favourites, but these products are not necessarily the best of the best, but I find that they work really well for me and my skin. When I am waking up every morning at 6am to walk the dog and go to the gym, the last thing that I want to do is spend forever getting my makeup on afterwards, so these are all of the products that get me looking somewhat alive and ready for the day. Not to mention that they only take a couple minutes to throw on my face, which is why I reach for these items day in and day out. I love all of these items for different reasons, but I will let you know all about that in this post.

I don’t know about you guys but when I find products that genuinely work well for my skin, I stick with them. As much as I love to try out new makeup and find new holy grail products, if I can get my full makeup on in 10 minutes and it looks good, then I will continue to use them products and recreate the same look every single day. All of the items that I am going to mention in this post I have had to repurchase numerous times over the past couple of years and that in my opinion just speaks volumes about how much I really love them and swear by them in my everyday makeup routine. Anyway, without any more rambling on, here are my most reached for makeup products…

When I get up really early in the morning, the last thing that I have time for is skincare. I know that skincare is important and I should do it every day, but some days I don’t have the energy or the time for it. This Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow Primer is just incredible for those days where I don’t have the time, which is why I reach for this so much. All I need to do with this is take a really small amount and just rub it all over my face. I find that this instantly makes my skin look alive and healthy which is how I want to look when it is 6am and I am miserable inside. At first when I bought this primer, I wasn’t sure that it was going to work for me and I thought I would get bored of it quite quickly, but I go through this stuff like it is going out of fashion because I love it that much.

I have oily skin, so I usually migrate towards primers that have pore minimising or oil controlling primers and to tell the truth, this primer does none of that. But what it does do is make the skin look so vibrant underneath my foundation. When you put some of this primer on your fingers you can quite clearly see that it has incredibly fine glitter through the product and it is that which will make the skin look so healthy and glowing throughout the day. Even though this doesn’t minimise my pores or help with oil control, I do think that it makes my makeup last longer throughout day and not just that, it also makes my makeup look flawless for longer.

First thing in the morning a stick foundation is my go to. This Makeup Forever HD Foundation Stick has been my go to foundation for such a long time. I make no secret about it here on my blog that I love foundations, I buy them more than any other makeup item. But, for a day to day basis I love to reach for this because it is just so quick and easy to use. All I have to do with this is just scribble a couple lines all over my face and then blend it in either with my Morphe M439 or a damp Beauty Blender and I am good to go. It literally takes two minutes to apply this foundation and that is one of the reasons why I love it so much. I am sure that I am on my 4th tube of this foundation and that just shows how deep the love runs.

When this foundation was first released I knew that I had to try it out. Years back when I first tried the original Makeup Forever HD Foundation I was in love with it. I had never tried anything like it before and I was hooked with it. So, I knew that when they released the new one in the new style packaging and especially with it being in stick form that I would have to try it out. Even though for a while this foundation was really talked about, I feel like it has kind of died down in the past year or so, but I am still in love with it. It gives a nice medium coverage which I think is great for day to day when I am at work. It lasts really beautifully on the skin and I think that as the day goes on it looks even better.

Over the years, I have tried out so many different concealers. I am obsessed with base products, so naturally I have bought more than my fair share of concealers over the years. If you have read my blog for a couple of years than you will know that this is my ride or die concealer. I have been using this since it was first released and I am still just as obsessed with it as I used to be. Even though the Tarte Shape Tape is one of my go to products these days, for an everyday basis, I reach for the Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer hell of a lot more. I think it comes down to the level of coverage and how comfortable it sits on my skin throughout the day.

This is a medium coverage concealer, which for a day in and day out kind of basis is just right. I do have darkness underneath my eyes that I like to try and cover, but if some of the darkness peeps through, I don’t particularly mind. I just think that so many people have darkness, it isn’t unique to me, so I don’t feel the need to cover it 100% every single day, with thick and heavy products. Another thing that I really love about this concealer is that it has a flexible wand, which helps it curve and contour to your face when you are applying it, which makes it much more comfortable on the skin. I blend this in with my damp Beauty Blender and it look so stunning and perfected on the skin and it takes no time at all.

I am pretty sure that the RCMA No Colour Powder doesn’t need an introduction of any kind here on my blog. I have been using this powder for so many years. Even since before its popularity really took off, this was my go to powder. From being a freelance makeup artist and doing bridal makeup for many years, I discovered this powder and my obsession started from there. I have tried so many loose setting powders over the years and even though there are others that match up with regards to the quality of the powder, nothing else matches this with regards to the quantity of powder that you get or the incredibly reasonable price. At the end of the day, if I can get three times as much product of the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder for less than half the price, I bet you can guess which one I will go for!

Because of my oily skin, I cannot go a day without setting my foundation, I genuinely hate how my base products look when they are not set with powder. I tend to set the areas under my eyes or where I conceal using a damp Beauty Blender to lightly bake and press the powder into those areas. Then to powder and set the rest of my face I will just go in with this on either my large powder brush by Real Techniques or my La Mer Powder brush and it always looks so pretty. It is lovely and long lasting on my skin and keeps my makeup looking good all-day long. In areas where my oils are particularly bad such as around my nose, I do have to touch up throughout the day, but it isn’t anything too dramatic and it only takes two shakes of a donkey’s tail.

Again, this is another product that is super quick and easy and that is why it is one of my most reached for eyebrow products. I am a fan of full and feathery brows and this Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade works like an absolute dream. When I first bought this product, I was pretty unsure about it and how to use it. I had seen so many people use it on YouTube and I either loved how their brows looked, or I absolutely hated it, I think it just depends on how it is being used. I’m not going to lie, it really did take a while for me to master this product and feel comfortable reaching for it, but now I really could not be without it.

For the days where I don’t have much time to spare, this is always the product that I reach for. What I like to do with this is just take my Anastasia Angled Brow Brush, lightly map the shape of my brows out and the ever so quickly fill in the shape using small strokes. Filling my brows in this way helps to get the product on and it is looking presentable, without having to spend too long focusing on them. If I have the chance to spend longer on my brows I will do the whole soap brow trend, using this product paired with my Anastasia Brow Gel. I take my brow brush and just do small strokes in the direction of my natural brow hairs to get them to look natural and full. I love doing this technique and the Anastasia Brow Pomade is the only product that gives me this kind of look.

I think that everybody needs a good drugstore mascara in their collection and that is what this Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara is for me. I first tried this years ago and that is just because of the packaging. I saw this being splashed all over blogs and I wanted it straight away, purely for the pink packaging. But, once I had my hands on it and I started to use it, I fell in love with this stuff. I have tried so many mascaras over the past couple of years, especially high-end ones, and I genuinely think that this one holds up well against them in comparison. Since this mascara has been released, I have never had a bad word being said against this Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

What I love about this mascara is how much it transforms my normally quite rubbish lashes. I always curl my eyelashes to try and give them a little boost, but the mascara just seems to do the rest. I feel like it really lifts my lashes from the roots and gives them a boost to make them look much longer than they really are. The wand on this mascara is curved, which I love because I feel like when I apply it, it gets every single lash hair. The colour is jet lash and I think it is super long lasting. This isn’t marketed as a waterproof mascara, but I have had this on before and gone out in the rain and even cried wearing this and it hasn’t budged. If you are looking for a good drugstore mascara, then look no further than this one!

Since I bought this bronzer at the beginning of last year, I was obsessed with it and it has been one of the only bronzers that I have used for months now. I genuinely love everything about this bronzer and that is why I reach for it so often. This is such a cult classic makeup product and even though I really wanted to try it out for myself, I didn’t think that it would live up to the hype which is why I hadn’t tried it out before. Usually when products are really popular and talked about, it puts me off for some strange reason. In the end I was walking around House of Fraser and I saw the Nars stand and I happened to wander over to it and buy everything that they had on show. Since then, my love affair with this Nars Laguna Bronzer has been on going.

When it comes to bronzer, I have a tendency to go in a little heavy. In my books, you can never have too much bronzer, it makes you look healthy, awake and alive and that is how I want to look when in actual fact I am too tired to function when I’m at work. The good thing about this bronzer is that it never looks too much and it blends out like an absolute dream. I always apply this using my Tom Ford Bronzer Brush because it gets the job done and it does it so incredibly well. I can already tell that this is going to live in my makeup collection for such a long time. I reach for this every single day and I still love how my makeup looks each and every time.

There you have it, my most reached for makeup. I am sure that over the years you will have heard me mention so many of these before, but like I said, when I find a product that I like, I use it to within an inch of its life. These are all really great products and they seem to fit really well with my skin and last all day, which is the main thing. I know that many of the items that I’ve mentioned are high end products, but for me and my awkward skin, I just feel like high end makeup seems to work better for me, but obviously that is just personal preference. As normal with all of the posts here on my blog, I will link to everything that I have mentioned down below. If you want to see my full review on any of the items, just click the name of the item above. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your most reached for makeup products are.

  1. I'm the same, I can't go without setting my foundation. Even though my skin isn't that oily, I just find a good setting powder adds that finishing touch x
