My January Favourites!

I cannot quite believe that I am sat here writing my first favourites post of 2018 already. January just seemed to fly by within the blink of an eye. As much as I love getting two weeks off from work at Christmas, it also kills me trying to get back into a routine. Who know that just two weeks can completely ruin a routine that you have been in for a whole year. January for me was just a month of trying to catch up. I was getting back into the flow of working and this is always the busiest time of year for me, I work in marketing so hell of a lot of work has to go into our catalogues, promotions and advertisements for the whole year in January. And with my blog, I have been trying to come up with a plan that is easy for me to work to and keep me on the right track. You may have noticed from the past couple of weeks but now I only post a couple times a week to try and ease the load.
With regards to my beauty favourites for January, I didn’t really get around to try many new things this month. I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions post last week that this year I am going to try and be quite strict when it comes to spending money and I still stand by that. As a matter of fact, I didn’t buy any new makeup products for the whole of January, which I don’t think has ever happened before. Attempting this spending ban has actually spurred me on to look in my own collection a little more and find the gems that I already have in there. Anyway, without any more rambling no, I will get back jump into my January Favourites…

This foundation is my new baby. I think I mentioned this in my latest favourites foundation post and I rambled on about it for a fair while so I will try to keep this fairly short. I first saw this on Jaclyn Hill's YouTube channel. It looked incredibly when she used it, but I put it on my wish list and that is where it lived for quite a while. I think what kept on putting me off about this foundation was just that not many people were really speaking about it and that put me off. Also, there was always so much more exciting and new products coming out that I was swayed by. In the end, I was in a mood for spending too much money and I decided to just go for it and buy it for myself.
The main things that I feel like I need to mention about this foundation, is the coverage, longevity and texture. First up, the coverage is very high. This is undoubtedly a high coverage foundation, and when I am having one of them days (which I had a lot of in January), where I am looking a little tired and full, this foundation is perfect. The longevity of this stuff is also incredible, I can pop this on in a morning and it is still in place and looking just as good as when it was first applied, first thing in the morning. Also, the texture is something that I love about this foundation and that it is because it is more of a gel kind of texture and to me, it is quite refreshing when I go in and apply it.

Since I bought this bad boy, it has been one of the most used items in my makeup collection. When I first saw the little video real on Charlotte Tilbury’s Instagram page I was obsessed with it. Even to the point where I signed up to the mailing list, so now when she sends out an e-shot I receive the same one multiple times. But, that is what I needed to do to make sure that I actually got one. I really don’t think that enough people have tried this out, I think that if they had, they would have much the same opinion as me.
Over the years I have used so many products to contour with whether it be liquid, cream and powder. This is by a mile my favourite liquid/cream product that I have in my collection. This is just so easy to apply and an absolute dream to blend out. My favourite thing about this Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand this past month has been that it doesn’t displace my foundation that I already have on. Everything about this just makes it an incredibly makeup product and I actually look forward for reaching for this every morning. I honestly don’t think that I have used anything else to contour with for the whole of January!

I am sure that everybody knows how much I love the Benefit Hoola Bronzer, even though this is still a pretty new item into my makeup collection. Even though this is one of them iconic makeup products, the shade of it, put me off. I thought that this would be far too light for my skin tone because I am quite a tanned person. What swayed me was that my dad bought a Benefit kit for my birthday that had this bronzer in as well as some blush shades, and I completely fell in love with it.
This past month, even though I adore using it as a bronzer and good cool toned contouring shade, what I have really been loving this for is applying it through the crease of my eye as an eyeshadow. This is just the perfect bronzer for my skin tone, whether it is to be applied through the crease or as a normal bronzer. This is one of them cult classic makeup products for a reason and that is just because the product is second to none. Every day that I use this bronzer I cannot help but notice how smooth my complexion and in particular my bronzer looks. This is an incredibly product and you will probably see it in many more favourites posts to come!

I am pretty sure that everybody knows that this is one of my all-time favourite concealers. Before I even bought this concealer, I knew that I was going to love it. I saw Carli Bybel using it no her YouTube channel before it was even released and just by the name ‘soft’ and ‘matte’, I knew I wanted to try it and give it a go. It was bloody months before it was finally released, but as soon as it hit UK soil, I logged straight onto the Space NK website and ordered it. After only using it once, it became my holy grail concealer, and I have barely put it down since.
My skin was kind of playing up through January, probably all of the toxins from over the Christmas period, slowly but surely working its way out of my system. Anyway, my pores have been wreaking havoc lately and this is the only concealer that not only covers them, it seems to blur my skin and make it look like it has a filter. I know that I have banged on about this concealer here on my blog, but it is incredible. I have never used another concealer that feels quite as nice and comfortable as this one and that is why I love it so much!

If you have been visiting my blog for quite a while you may have heard me mention this brow product before and chances are, if you have seen me mention it then you will know that the only reason that I ever bought this is because I saw Rosie Huntington-Whiteley use it. I was looking at her Snapchat one day and she was doing her full makeup routine and I saw her use this to fill in her brows and from that moment, I knew I really wanted to try it out. It went on my wishlist and that is where it stayed for quite a while because it is pretty expensive for an eyebrow pencil, but in the end, I bought it and I have loved it ever since.
January was full of overlaying for me, so I needed makeup products that were super quick and easy to use and that is where this Hourglass Arch Brow Pencil came into play. Even though I have hell of a lot of brow products in my collection, I always this to be the quickest and easiest to use. The product itself is super creamy and pigmented, it just glides on so easy and doesn’t drag the skin. I much prefer this to the Anastasia Brow Wiz and Anastasia Brow Definer, it just seems to do the job so well in my opinion. I have bought 3 of these over the past couple of years and I still love it just as much as I did when I first bought it!

Every single blogger and the YouTuber in the world has banged on about this mascara over the past couple of years, so I will try and keep this short and sweet. When I first started seeing this mascara being spammed all over the place, I wasn’t really that bothered about trying it out, I already had a good drugstore mascara that I really liked. What spurred me on to buy this product was solely the packaging.  It must be a typical blogger thing, but I am instantly drawn towards anything that is a stunning blush pink colour and that really is the only reason that I took a trip into Boots to buy this mascara.
When I actually had this mascara, and started to use it, I realised just how much I loved it. The first thing that I loved about the Maybelline Lash Sensation mascara is the curved wand. Because of that, it allows you to get to every single lash hair and it is nice and easy to use. Not only that, the product is out of this world, I feel like it lifts my lashes, really holds a curl and stays put all day long without any transferring or smudging. I have tried so many mascaras over the past couple of years and this is one of my favourites, right up there with my YSL Shocking Mascara!

This perfume certainly doesn’t need an introduction here on this blog. If I had a pound for every time I mentioned Chanel No5 here on my blog, I would probably be a millionaire. Scent is something that is really important to me, when I smell nice, I just feel much happier with myself when I go about my day. Chanel No5 has been my go to perfume for so many years now. I can remember when I was a little girl, I went into my mum’s bedroom, sat at her vanity and doused myself in Chanel No5. She was so angry, which I guess looking back now is completely understandable because I used a £100 bottle of foundation in one go, but I smelt like a dream!
From that day, it is all that people get me when it comes to my birthday and Christmas and I am so grateful for that. This is my signature scent and even my friends and family when they smell this now, it reminds them of me. To me, this is just a very grown up and sophisticated kind of scent. I am not a fan really of anything that is floral and that is why this is so perfect for me. Over the years, I have tried out so many different perfumes, but to me nothing has even come close to my Chanel No5. It is out of this world and just such an iconic fragrance. If you haven’t tried this out, I highly recommend going into a store and trying this out!

It took me quite a while to actually bite the bullet and buy another pair of Huda Beauty Lashes. That actually sounds quite bad, I should explain that a little better. If you have followed my blog for some time, you may know that I have done a post before about the Huda Beauty Scarlet False Lashes. As stunning as that pair of lashes was, I just didn’t wear them half as much as I initially thought I would. In my day to day life, I don’t have need to wear full, dramatic false eyelashes and I tend to reach for my Ardell Wispies and Demi Wispies much more often than I do these. So, I didn’t want to spend more money on them, for them just to sit in a drawer and not get worn very often.
But then I saw this pair on I think it was the Harrods website and I knew I wanted to try them out. I guess the saving grace with this pair of Huda Beauty lashes is that they are quite a lot cheaper than the last pair I bought, I am sure that these lashes were only around £15, which is good when you compare the price to other Huda Lashes or Lilly Lashes. The reason why I love these lashes and why they’ve made it into this favourite post is because they look so stunning and natural. Don’t get me wrong, for somebody that doesn’t wear much makeup and doesn’t wear lashes daily like me, these would be too dramatic, but for me, these are perfection. It has been a while since I found a pair of false eyelashes that I love half as much as I do these ones, they are out of this world!

This is one of them products that no matter how hard I try to get away from it and try something else out, I am just drawn back towards it. I was always the kind of person that never used a primer, I thought that they were a little bit of a fad. How can something that is clear really make a difference to my skin? Little did I know just how much I would love this primer. This is by a country mile my favourite primer, I go through these like nobody’s business, I must buy a new one every single month, which is hell of a lot of primer. I will try and keep this one quite short and sweet because I am pretty sure that everybody and their mothers has tried this primer over the years.
The first time what I bought this Benefit Porefessional, to start with I really didn’t like it. I think I got a little bit of a dud tube of the stuff, it was really thin and watery and just didn’t seem to do anything for my complexion. It wasn’t until I ordered another and started to use it, I realised that it was perfect. I only use this primer where I actually need it, which is around my nose where I have large pores and I can get quite oily. I rub just a small amount of this into that area and it helps to control my oil and make my makeup look flawless all-day long. Over the years I have tried more matte and pore perfecting primers, but to me, this one is just incredible!

So, there you have it, my January favourites. I know that you will have probably seen me mention these items here on my blog before, but you know that if you are seeing them again, then I really must enjoy using them. As normal, I will link to everything that I have mentioned in this post down below in case you want to check it out. Also, make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what some of your favourite beauty products of January were!
