My Foundations of the Week

I have so many foundations in my collection, so many so that in a morning it can be a task in itself just to pick which foundation to wear. When I think about it, I wear a different foundation, pretty much every single day of the week. Even though I have my favourite foundations, I like to mix it up. Different foundations seem to look better when paired with certain products, so depending on what kind of look I am wanting to achieve, I will reach for different foundations. I saw a post similar to this on another blog (sorry, I can’t remember who or I would have linked), and I just thought that it is such a great idea and I definitely wanted to try my hand at it.

Like I said, I have so many different foundations in my collection. I would much rather buy a foundation over any other type of makeup. I just love how a foundation can completely transform your face and give you so much more confidence. When I peer into my draw where I keep all of my foundations, I cannot help but feel a little guilty about how much money is just sat there, but I cannot deny that I adore every single one of them. Anyway, without any more rambling on, here is my week in foundations…

I don’t think that the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation really needs an introduction here on my blog because I have mentioned it so many times over the past two years. This is by a country mile, my most used foundation that I have in my collection. This to me is just ideal for a money because it is so lightweight and just feels like skincare to me on my skin. Normally on a Monday morning my skin feels a little neglected because I can be a little lazy with my skincare when it comes to a weekend, so by Monday morning my skin is craving some kind of normality and that is why I love this foundation so much.

One of the main things I love about the Nars Sheer Glow foundation is simply the shade that I have. I have had the shade Syracuse since I first bought this and honestly, I have never tried a foundation that matches me quite as well as this one. And because of that it just seems to suit me down to the ground. It lasts really beautifully all day long, it never seems to break up around my nose, which is something that happens quite often for me. The colour doesn’t oxidise throughout the day and I think that the longer you wear this foundation, the more natural it looks on the skin. I didn’t think this foundation would work for me, with me having oily skin, but I adore using this and how my skin looks.

On Tuesday, I wanted something that just felt nice and light, but that would last all day long. I had work throughout the day, then straight from work I was meeting my dad for some dinner, so I wanted something nice and long-lasting and that is why I reached for my Too Faced Born This Way Foundation. Since I bought this I have found it to be a great everyday foundation. I would say that the texture of this foundation is very similar to the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, but this is ever so slightly more matte, which makes it slightly more longwearing on my oily ass skin.

The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation is a great medium coverage foundation that feels really nice on the skin. I was sceptical about it at first with it being a medium coverage, because I always go for more full coverage foundations because of the hyper pigmentation on my cheeks, but I honestly think that this foundation is really great. Not only does this foundation apply like a dream, but where I need a touch more coverage, I will just pat a little more of the foundation into the skin to build it up. This is another foundation with a great shade range, but I think it is a little lacking when it comes to the deeper end of the spectrum. Overall, I think this is a great everyday foundation.

When I first bought this foundation, I really wasn’t very sure about it. Probably because of how much I loved the original Makeup Forever HD Foundation, I was trying to compare the two together, even though they are extremely different products. It took a while, but I finally fell head over heels for this foundation. The reason why I picked this foundation for Wednesday is because I was going to the gym at 6am, and from there heading straight to work, so I was going to do my makeup in my car, so I needed a foundation that was super easy to use. Another reason why this was my choice over other stick foundations is because after a workout, my skin can be quite dry and this is a nice and hydrating foundation.

One of the reasons why I wasn’t too sure about this foundation to start with is because the coverage seemed quite light for me, and for me to get a level of coverage that I really liked, I did have to apply quite a lot of product. The amazing thing about this foundation though, is that no matter how much product I applied, or how much I tried to up the coverage, it never looks thick or cakey on the skin. Like I said, this is quite a hydrating foundation and on my nose, it can cause me to get quite oily, but it is nothing extreme and it doesn’t look anywhere near as bad as some foundations that I have in my collection. This is just a super quick and easy foundation, that gives a really nice finish.

On Wednesday evening I don’t think I got a wink of sleep. I was up all night working away with some admin things for my blog. Every now and again, I get really into the zone of working and I don’t want to stop. That is because of my OCD and my inability to leave anything unfinished, so by the time Thursday morning rolled by, I needed a full coverage foundation. I have mentioned the Estee Lauder Double wear foundation here on my blog for the longest time and I am sure that everybody knows just how much I love it already without me going into it again.

This is a lovely full coverage foundation, and even though it is thick with a high coverage, it is comfortable on the skin and never feels cakey. Well, I guess this could get cakey, if you apply it excessively, but I have never experienced that when applying it with a buffing brush or Beauty Blender. The coverage on this foundation is spot on and it covers everything I need with just one layer, which is always a challenge for foundations against the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. This is long-lasting and flawless, I have never experienced this breaking up or moving and displacing throughout the day. You can get flashback with this foundation, but just for a normal everyday foundation, this is brilliant!

On Friday, all I wanted was something to throw on my face that was really quick. When Friday comes around, all signs of effort have left my body and it is a rarity that I even wear makeup, so this Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick is just perfection. I know that I have droned on about this foundation so much over the past year or so, but I just love how quick and easy this foundation stick is to use. All you need to do is draw a couple of lines on your face and blend it out either with a damp sponge like a Beauty Blender or a dense buffing brush similar to the Morphe M439 and you are good to go.

The Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick is a great high coverage foundation. I would say with a nice light layer, you will get a medium finish, depending on how you blend it out. I always get a much higher coverage when I use a brush because I find that it doesn’t absorb half of as much product as a sponge does. This is a very easily buildable foundation and you can get a really intense coverage with just the smallest amount of product. The shade range in this foundation is really good and it offers hell of a lot of shades ranging from extremely light to very deep. This is just a great and reliable foundation to keep in my draw for those days when I want a good coverage with minimal effort.

I am sure that if you have visited my blog before, you will already know that these are some of my favourite foundations and I reach for them all of the time. I have so many foundations in my ever-growing collection, but these are the ones that I reach for time and time again, because I know that they always look really good on the skin and they will last well all-day long. As normal with all of my blog posts, I will leave a link down below to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to check anything out. Also, make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what foundations you have been wearing recently!

  6. I adore the too face born this way foundation. I did purchase my original bottle when I had a bit of a tan going on after many beach trips, so I need to repurchase a second bottle in my updated shade because I miss applying it straight from the bottle.
