I have so many different coats in my wardrobe and I love them all for so many different reasons. I love having such a huge and unjustified coat collection, because it means that no matter what the weather is like outside, I can always look chic and I have something to go with whatever outfit I am putting together. Plus, the thing with coats is that if you get a good style, it can see you through so many different seasons and still look on tend. Anyway, without any further rambling, here are my favourite winter coats…
The Classic Parka
I know that I have mentioned my love of the iconic Parka here on my blog before, so this may come as no surprise that I am mentioning it again. The reason why I love a good Parka so much is because of how cosy and warm they are, particularly the one that I have. The one that I have is one that I got as a gift for my 18th birthday so nearly 6 years ago and I am still obsessed with it. It is lined with a really thick quilting material and it is detachable, so I can wear it all year round. The Parka is something that seems to be timeless and always comes back around. My Topshop one was around £200 when I got it, but the quality is incredible!
The Leather Jacket
I am much more of a biker chic then I am a girly kind of girl. I bought my first leather jacket when I was around 15, and my obsession with them is still going strong. I feel like a leather jacket just really pulls any outfit together and makes you look chic and sophisticated. Some of my favourite ways to wear a leather jacket is either with a pair of black fitted trousers and a cashmere jumper with a pair of heels, or with a floaty mini dress to make it a much more masculine look. I first started out with one from New Look which served me well and I wore it for years, but then I upgraded to my Saint Laurent one and I am in love with it.
The Aviator Jacket
When I first saw aviator style jackets making an appearance again through brands like Balenciaga, I was obsessed with them. I knew that I had to have one and I am so glad that I went ahead and bought myself one. Like I said, I am more of a masculine kind of dresser and this is in the same realms of the aviator jacket to me. The thing with aviator jackets is even though they are a jacket rather than a coat, they are so nice and warm because of the shearling lining on the inside. I reach for this all of the time because it is such an edgy jacket and it always looks stunning. I have my eye on one from Acne, but I just can’t part with that much money!
The Classic Camel
I have always been a lover of the camel coat. I have had one of these for a couple years and I think it is just such a stunning piece to keep in your closet. I wear hell of a lot of black, looking around my closet is just like seeing a shadow because it is all that dark. So, when I throw this on top, it just lifts and brightens my outfit. I will either wear this coat normally on top of my clothes with a nice and thick scarf, if not I will throw it over my shoulders for a really relaxed and effortless kind of look. I did have a little baby from River Island that served me well, but I have now just treat myself to one from Max Mara and it is stunning!
The Edgy Bomber
In my vast and over the top closet, I like to keep something hanging there that I can bust out when I want to take an outfit from looking 0 to 100. Like I said, I wear hell of a lot of black, so I like to have something that I can bust out every now and again. For me it is a leopard print bomber jacket that I bought from Topshop last year and I am in love with it. I think everybody needs something that is just a statement and will make you stand out from the crowd, and that is what the leopard print bomber jacket is for me.
The Warm Wrap Coat
Even though I do adore my Parka, when I want to look a little high fashion but warm at the same time, it isn’t really the best coat to reach for. So, I invested in a stunning but warm wrap coat. Mine is a deep grey shade, what just looks so effortless when I throw it on and I love that it synchs in my waist at the same time as being nice and toasty warm. I wore this a lot through December when I was visiting the Christmas markets and I know that this will be coming to Paris with me in March. I think a wrap coat is just something that is so stunning and effortless.
The Leopard Coat
Another essential in my winter wardrobe is a leopard print coat. I think that leopard print when it is done right is just such a classic print to have in your wardrobe. I know that some people think that leopard print can be a little tacky, but it depends on what you wear it with. I have my well-beloved leopard print fur coat and it is to die for. I like to wear it with a pair of black skinny jeans, a black cashmere jumper and a pair of Chelsea boots. I feel like it just adds a touch of sassiness to all of my outfits. I think mine that I picked up from Topshop cost me around £90 at the time and I still adore it.
The Fur Coat
Now, I know that I have just mentioned a fur coat but this one is different. And before people jump down my throat, of course I mean faux fur. I have a stunning brown faux fur coat that I find myself reaching for at all time. There is nothing finer than when it is a cold frosty morning and bundling up nice and cosy in a fur coat. Not to mention that it looks incredibly classy when you pair it with a simple outfit that looks like it is thrown together. I do actually have a real fur that I inherited from my gran, as stunning as it is, I just cannot bring myself to wear it even though the damage has been done already!
So, there you have it, my must has winter coats. I reach for these all of the times and I think they looks amazing paired with so many different outfits. As you can see, I have added links above to different products so that you can see what I mean and take a look for yourself. I have tried to add in some high-street and high-end options so that you get a good variation. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what your go to winter coats are for the winter!
