Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder Review

I have the world's thinnest hair in the whole and entire world. My hairdresser always says that I have hell of a lot of hair on my head, but the hair that I do have is quite thin and fine. If I was to wash my hair and just leave it to dry it would be flat to my head like a pancake, no matter what I have tried over the years, nothing really seems to work for me. Then my hairdresser who is also my cousin told me to try this Bumble and Bumble Pret-A-Powder, so I bought it from Boots and I thought I would let you know what I thought about it.

When it comes to how thin my hair is, I will try just about anything to get it to look fuller and thicker. Whether it is volumizing shampoos, drying my hair upside down, back combing, trust me when I say that I have tried just about everything. As much as I wanted to try this out when she first mentioned it to me, the £23 price tag did put me off a little for something that may or may not work. In the end, I decided just to go for it and I have been loving it ever since.

Like I said, the £23 did put me off for a tub of translucent powder for your hair, but I have only ever heard good things about Bumble and Bumble so I thought it might be worth it. For the longest time I have been using the Root Boost powder by Schwarzkopf and I will admit that it does the job of adding volume, but it leaves a horrible texture on your hair, so I wanted this to give me that same kind of lift, without the clogged-up feeling. And if that means spending a little extra money then I am more than happy with that every now and again.

What I do before I use this Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder is I wash my hair like normal with my usual shampoo and conditioner. I let my hair drip dry for a couple of hours and then I will go in with my hair dryer and blast it at the roots just to make sure that it is completely dry. I have pre-bonded extensions in at the moment to try and add a little more volume to my already long hair. My extensions are the same length as my hair, so my extensions just help to give it a little extra lift. Then once my hair is completely dry I will go in with this powder.

I will sit at my vanity and brush my hair into the parting that I normally wear. Then I take my comb and my clip and I separate the hair into different sections. Then I will take my Bumble and Bumble Pret-A-Powder and shake some product right in at the roots. Then I will lower a line of hair and go in with a touch more powder. I will continue to do this until near enough every hair on my head has some powder at the root.

When all of the powder is on my hair I will then go in and ruffle it into my hair using my fingertips. I will spend a couple of minutes really working that into my scalp and I can see in an instant that it does lift my hair and give me much more volume. The more I work it into my hair and the roots the more volume is added, if I keep it going I can end up looking like a lion with a huge mane.

I have to say that I really love this powder. I have found myself reaching for it all of the time. This does the perfect job of lifting, adding volume and staying the same all-day long. I will say that this powder does give my hair a similar kind of texture to the Schwarzkopf one does, but no where near quite as heavy or gunky feeling. It is something that doesn’t put me off from using this anyway. I know for a fact that I will repurchase this when I run out and it is perfect for what I need. I highly recommend this volumizing powder and I am suggesting it to everybody!

  4. As a brunette I'm super excited to try this if it actually is translucent. I feel like I'm always trying to find products that'll give my hair volume as well, because I hate my hair being super flat!
