Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation Review

I don’t even know where to start with this new beautiful foundation the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation. In absolutely no time at all, I have fallen in love with this product and it is one of my favourite foundations from my collection. Until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn’t heard of this foundation and then I saw Casey Holmes using it in a tutorial and I knew that I had to try it out for myself. I know that it is very Mean Girls, but if Casey Holmes buys something and likes it, then I am going to have to buy it and try it out for myself too. I just find that because we both have oily skin and we like full coverage, her foundation recommendations usually work out for me too.

Because this is such a lovely and lightweight foundation with a good amount of coverage, this has quickly become one of my go to foundations in my collection that I am really enjoying reaching for on an everyday basis. From the first time I saw Casey Holmes talk about this in her video, I knew that I had to try it out for myself and before I knew it, I was logging onto the Boots website and trying it for myself.  Since then, I have been putting it through its paces, I have found some things that I love and there are other things that I would change if I had the chance, so I thought I would finally shade my review with you guys…

The first thing that I want to talk about in this review is the shade range of this foundation. I have to admit that it really isn’t that great. There is hell of a lot of medium tones and it seems to be pretty lacking in the really light shades and the deeper tones. Even though it was pretty easy for me to find my shade because I have a medium skin tone, I can imagine other people really struggling, so I just thought that I would touch on it briefly in this post for you guys. I don’t like it when people gloss over the shade range, so I want to start making more of an effort to talk about it in my posts.

The next thing on my list to talk about is the packaging. This is in a nice glass bottle with a screw top lid. The strange thing comes when you remove the lid and there is a doe foot applicator for you to apply the foundation with. I know that some people will like this because you can apply it directly to the face and apply the product sparingly to cut down on waste. But to be honest, I don’t like the texture of the doe foot applicator on my skin and I imagine that it can be very unhygienic if you have acne and blemish prone skin. To me, this would have been hell of a lot better with a traditional pump. You also get 30ml of product, which is a standard amount when it comes to a liquid foundation.

Now I want to mention the consistency of this Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation. When you apply this to the face using the doe foot applicator it is very easy to see that it is a lovely lightweight product. It glides onto the skin very smoothly and sits very nicely on the skin. I will say that this foundation is quite of a wet texture when it is on the skin and I would without a doubt have to set this with powder because in my opinion it doesn’t dry down in the slightest. I think overall, the product is very nice to use and really manageable to get a nice finish and consistency on the skin.

I find that the cover of this Beyond Perfecting Foundation is a medium to fill coverage. With one light layer all over the face, I get a medium coverage. To get to a nice full coverage that I am comfortable with, all I have to do is go in with a touch more product on my problem areas and then I am good to go. I find that this is one of the easiest foundations in my collection to build up coverage and I am putting that down to the doe-foot applicator putting the product just where I need it. For me, my problem really is on my cheeks and this foundation covers up beautifully.

When I apply this foundation to the face and it is set in place with my translucent powder, I am them locked in and I don’t have to worry about it throughout the day. I think that the longevity of this Clinique Foundation is just sheer perfection and that is why I love this for an everyday basis. I tend to apply this first thing in the morning before I head out for work and I know that 12 hours later it will still look just as good as it did in the morning. I would say that this is a pretty normal foundation, so I don’t feel like it effects my oily skin throughout the day.

Anyway, I will leave this review here before I make it any longer. I love this foundation and I think it is perfect for an everyday basis. I have actually removed the stopper from my foundation and now I pour it onto the back of my hand and I have to admit that I am enjoying it hell of a lot more. I will leave a link to this foundation down below in case you want to check these out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this Clinique Beyond Perfecting foundation and make sure to tell me what you thought about it!

  1. I had a really bad experience with this foundation when it was used on me for my friends hen party and I actually took it off me after about an hour πŸ™ˆ it just exaggerated everything wrong with my skin! My mum has it and I think she likes it though!
