EX1 Foundation Review

I have seen this EX1 Foundation all over the internet for absolutely ages and to be honest, I never thought about trying it out before. From what I have seen on YouTube and other blogs I knew that it would be a good foundation for me, so when I saw it on ASOS I had to buy it. The good thing about buying it through ASOS is that I had a £10 voucher sat on my account and I got student discount, which meant that this foundation was pretty much free after I had checked out with my ASOS premier, so I didn’t even have to pay for postage.

When I first got this EX1 Foundation delivered, I have to say that for a £10 foundation this really does have stunning packaging, which I know may sound fickle because at the end of the day the review is about the product, but I just like the products I use to look pretty. The copper colour lid and base just give it a little something extra which I love. With other foundations out there on the market for a similar kind of price I wouldn’t expect anything to look quite as lovely as this. I also really love that it has a pressure pump, which means that it pushes the product up as you dispense it, which means that there will be no waste.

Firstly, I want to say that this foundation in the shade that I bought matches my skin colouring pretty much identically. From looking on ASOS and actually on the EX1 website it doesn’t look there that there is that much to choose from in their colour range, but luckily, I did find something that matches me pretty well. Like many other brands it seems to cater for lighter skin tones and no so much deeper complexions. I will admit that this shade does have very olive undertones, which is absolutely ideal for me, but I can imagine that it wouldn’t be for many other people.

I find that the consistency of this foundation to be really nice. It glides on just like any other liquid foundation that I have. I would say that it is a little on the thicker side of a liquid foundation, but nothing that is an issue to me and it still blends into the skin and my primers really well. I don’t know what it is, but I always expect low priced foundations not to perform as well as my higher end ones. I know that probably sounds a little brand snobbish, but it is just from my experience with foundations, but I feel like this EX1 foundation really is changing my opinion and that is why I have been enjoying it at the moment.

I have been wearing this EX1 Foundation pretty much every single day for the past few weeks and I really do love it. It has replaced my Maybelline Fit Me as my go to low cost foundation in my collection. An extra bonus is that it actually keeps my faces natural oils at bay, which is surprising to say how glowing it initially looks when I apply it onto the skin. I do have to make sure that I set this foundation with powder, but that is nothing new for me because I have an oily skin. I also have to carry a powder compact with me throughout the day to make sure that I don’t get too oily, but it isn’t anything crazy.

I really do love this foundation and I can see it been a staple in my makeup drawer for a very long time. It has completely won me over and I really didn’t expect that to happen. For me, if I didn’t know that this was only about £10 I could easily believe that it is a high-end foundation. I have been recommending this to everybody, especially some of my family who are younger who want their makeup to look nice but don’t have the money to go out and buy a higher price foundation. I don’t really what more I can say other than that I really do love this foundation. I will try and link to this foundation down below if it is available. If you have any questions about my new obsession be sure to leave them below and I will get right back to you!

  1. I'm just the same: I always expect my affordable foundations to don't last (or perform) as well as my higher end ones, but that also means that I'm very pleasantly surprised when an affordable foundation does an outstanding job! Lovely review :)

  2. This sounds great but I don't know how I'd decide on a shade - that's the problem with products only being available online! xx

    1. I know!
And all of the shades seem really olive toned which obviously won't suit everybody!

  4. I tried this after I heard Adele wore it for an awards ceremony, I totally agree with you but it didn't last very well on my skin in comparison to other drugstore foundations. I'll definitely finish the bottle but I won't be re-purchasing it.

    1. It must just be how different skin tones work, I have used this so much. I wonder how it will work now the weather is getting warmer though, that is a true test for a drugstore foundation!

  5. Only being available online is a bit of a nightmare, I don't think I could buy it purely because I couldn't decide on a shade...

    1. It does make it so much harder, I just had to spend a lot of time looking at swatches and trying to pick!
It does seem like all of the shades are quite olive based!

  7. I've been looking for a new cheaper foundation, my Giorgio Armani one is just too expensive at this point. The packaging is gorgeous in this though! I'd deffo struggle to get the right shade, I'm very pale so xx
