My Favourite Makeup of 2016

In 2016 I think it is safe to say that I bought far too much makeup. I kind of want to add it all up how much it has cost me throughout the year but I know for sure that I would be deeply angry with myself. I just love makeup and how it can completely transform you. I can literally sit in front of my vanity mirror and just sit and play with my makeup for hours on end and never get bored with it.

In this post, I am going to mention all the makeup that I used and bought in 2016 and that I have fell completely in love with. These are the things that I have used to death or that I have had to repurchase throughout the year. So, without further rambling, let me get into it…

1)          Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation

I think everybody could have guessed that this foundation would be in my favourites for 2016. I mention this in any post that I can on my blog. I love the coverage, texture and it applied like a dream. This foundation paired with the Morphe M439 brush is a match made in heaven!

I am a massive fan of the full coverage look and this foundation creates this so easily. Plus, it feels nice and lightweight and even with the fullest coverage it doesn’t feel cakey or too thick. I highly recommend this foundation to anybody who loves a full coverage glam!

2)         Urban Decay Naked Weightless Concealer

This is a concealer that needs no introduction, majority of the internet has spoken about this in 2016. This is full coverage, easy to blend and leaves you with skin that looks airbrushed and perfect. It is so lovely I have gone through 3 already!

Since I first bought this concealer I have tried so many more and not one of them has matched up to this. I cannot see a time when I am not obsessed with this concealer, it is just out of this world. Truly my favourite Urban Decay product by far.

3)         Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick in Chestnut

If I want to cream contour my face this is the product that I reach for. It is creamy, pigmented and really easy to blend. I love it and have used it near enough every single day for months on end and I have barely used any of the product from it. It just shows how a little goes a really long way.

Plus, this product is really great for travelling. When I normally take cream contouring products away with me they are in a compact which can often get broken or smashed if you are putting them in your luggage, so this product is great for that!

4)         Anastasia Brow Wiz

I have always filled my brows out using either powder or my pomade. Recently I thought I would give the Anastasia Brow Wiz ago. When I first used, it I didn’t love it. It wasn’t until I sat and had a play with it and really worked out how to use it I fell in love with it. I now use it every day and even have it in multiple colours.

It is really great if you want to get a nice natural look to your brows. I love to use this to map out the shape of my brows using small strokes to make them look realistic. Then I will go in with my brow pomade on an angled brush to get more depth to the brows.

5)          YSL Black Opium Perfume

This is one of them perfumes that I just always repurchase. I first got this years ago, and I cannot stop using it. I may even dare say that it is creeping into the realm of my Chanel No5. People now know that this is my scent, especially through the winter months.

I love how now when people smell this they associate it with me. Much the same with the Chanel No5, it is a beautiful scent and not to mention that the packaging is probably the nicest fragrance packaging that I have ever tried.

6)         Maybelline Sensational Mascara

You may know that I have always been obsessed with Maybelline mascaras, for the longest time I have been using the Colossal mascara, but this time around I went for the Sensational mascara and I love it. The wand makes sure that you don’t get clumps and it really fans out and lifts your lashes. Way better than all high-end mascaras that I have tried.

I am sure you have seen this mascara all over blogs and on YouTube and it really does deserve that much attention because it works that well. I recommend this to everybody and have put these in my professional kit since trying it.

7)         MAC Studio Fix Concealer

Like I said, this year has been challenging to say the least, so a thick ass concealer has been much needed to hide the horrific darkness under my eyes. I don’t think there is a better concealer at hiding darkness than the MAC Studio Fix Concealer. It is out of this world, I take a small amount on my ring finger and lightly press it in, then I am good to go!

Another great way to apply this concealer is with a dense fluffy brush. A great brush that I like to pair with this concealer is the Morphe E20. This really picks up the product and then using circular motions it buffs it into the skin really well.

8) RCMA No Colour Powder

Since buying this I have literally used nothing else to set my liquid products with. This is by far the best powder I have ever used. I literally tossed my Laura Mercier powder to the back of my drawer after getting this. It is an amazing powder and for the quantity and the price, you cannot go wrong with it.

I have a full review on this powder on my blog so if you just search in the box you should be able to find that. I have used so many drugstore and higher end face setting powders and honestly nothing even comes close to this powder.

9) Makeup Forever Pro Bronze Fusion Bronzer

I love bronzer but for me they can’t be too deep, orange or shimmery. This is the perfect shade. It just makes the skin look sun kissed and glowing. I use this with a really big fluffy brush such as the Tom Ford Bronzer brush and it just applies it seamlessly. I have used this same bronzer for months on end and it is still going strong!

My only criticism with this bronzer is from when I first started using it I could barely get any product onto my brush. I really has to work my brush into it to break through the top layer and get anything onto my brush, but once I did it has worked fine since.

10)     Morphe M439 Brush

I have been using this brush for near enough a full year now and I am obsessed. Since getting this brush I haven’t used anything else to apply my foundation. It is dense and fluffy so it buffs the foundation into the skin seamlessly. It is the perfect foundation brush.

Not to mention that this brush has been washed time and time again and it is just as good as new every single time. After using this Morphe M439 brush it has persuaded me to try out other Morphe brushes to see if they match up to this one.

If I had to recommend anything that I have tried in the past year, these are the top of my list. Make sure you leave me a comment below and let me know what your top makeup for 2016 is and what you continue to use even today. As normal I will leave links to everything that I have mentioned above in case you want to take a look…
