Beauty Blender Review

I feel like I was very late onto the bandwagon when it comes to Beauty Blenders. Everybody seemed to be using these and I was so stuck in my ways with my good old-fashioned brushes that I didn’t want to even entertain the idea of trying a Beauty Blender out. I think in the end, curiosity got he better of me and I ended up buying a couple from Boots to try out and I fell in love with them straight from the beginning. I have now been using these for years and back when I was a freelance makeup artist, I had countless amounts of these in my professional kit. So, I thought for this post, I would give you the low down on the ever-popular Beauty Blender and let you guys know why I love them so much.

I wanted to try these out for the main reason that whenever I would see them being used in a makeup tutorial online, it looked so effortless and easy at blending everything into the skin. I am naturally, a very heavy-handed person and that carries across to when I am doing my makeup. When I am writing, you can literally hear the pen engraving on the paper because I press on that much and I felt like I was doing the same with my makeup brushes, so I wanted to try a sponge to see if it made me a little lighter handed to help prevent wrinkles. Side note: I find that this does stop me from dragging my skin, but sometimes I feel like I am pressing it that hard into my face that I could literally get bruised from it, that is my issue though, not the Beauty Blenders!

The first thing that completely amazed me was the shape and texture of the sponge. When you first get a new one and you take it out of the packaging it is incredibly small and pretty hard, it is only when you wet it properly that you realise just how lovely the sponges themselves are. They pretty much double in size and the water in the sponge makes it such a lovely and soft sponge to use. I like to run it under the tap for a good 30 seconds and then I will gently squeeze any excess water out in my hands, before squeezing it into a tower to make sure that it has just the right amount of moisture.

I use these Beauty Blenders for everything from foundation, concealer cream contour, liquid blush and even to press translucent powder into the skin. No matter what I use them for, they do an incredible job and they make my makeup look just how I want it to look. I will admit that if you go in with a new or clean Beauty Blender, it can absorb quite a lot of product straight off the bat, but it isn’t anything that is too excessive, and it isn’t anything that would stop me from wanting to use it. This will also sheer out products because the sponge absorbs some of it, which I think leaves me with just the right amount of product, no matter what I am using.

I know that when I reach for my Beauty Blender that my makeup is going to look flawless and there will be no lines or any choppiness in my makeup when I use this for application and blending. It is this reason why I opted for using these in my professional kit rather than brushes because I found them much more manageable and I knew what I kind of look I could achieve using a Beauty Blender. Plus, for each client I could just reach for a new Beauty Blender rather than having to try and clean my brushes in between each person, which was a dream come true for me.

One of my bug bears when it comes to this product is that they can be quite hard to clean. I have tried everything from the same baby shampoo I use to clean my brushes with, sanitiser, brush cleaner, specific Beauty Blender cleaner, but they never seem to go back to being as good as new and after a couple of washes you can see the sponges start to diminish slightly. You can see this in the colour of them because they will go a lighter shade of pink, or they get cracks in and start to rip, but when I think about how much I use and abuse these, I really think that they are really worth the money that I pay for them.

Anyway, there really isn’t much more that I can say about these Beauty Blenders that I haven’t already said. I think that they do a stunning job and they make my makeup look so stunning and simply effortless. I love reaching for these because I really do think that they have changed the way that I apply my makeup both on myself and professionally. I will leave a link to these down below in case you want to check them out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know if you have tried these out and what you think about them!

  2. I love love love the beauty blender. I was late on the band wagon, i've only had it for a couple of months but it's amazing. I like using it for concealer and once i've applied my foundation with a brush i go over it with the sponge.
