Products I Used On Holiday

As some of you guys may have seen from one of my latest blog posts, I am not long back from my summer holiday. I love going on holiday in the summer because by the time June rolls by, my skin is craving a little sun. This year me and my boyfriend went to La Palma, which is in the Canary Islands. I had never actually heard of it before we went ahead and booked it, but let me tell you, it was like heaven on earth. The resort that we stayed in was stunning, the complex was huge and best of all I did nothing but drink my bodyweight in cocktails, sunbathe all day long and eat far too much food.

But, for today’s blog post, I thought that I would share with you guys some of the items that I loved whilst I was away in a sunnier climate. I always take more than I could ever need on holiday with me and it was no different this summer. But while I was away there was a couple products that I kept on reaching for that I really don’t think that I could have been without, so I thought that I would share those with you in today’s blog post. Anyway, without further rambling here are my favourites!

Batiste Dry Shampoo
I know that I have mentioned it on my blog before, but I have hair like Hagrid from Harry Potter. Because of my hair extensions, my hair is not only long, but it is also incredibly thick and pretty unruly. Mix that with hot and humid weather and it will have me looking like Monica from Friends and that is why I had to keep a bottle of this Batiste Dry Shampoo near me at all times. Whilst I am on holiday, I try with all my might to keep my head out of the water so that I have to wash it as little as possible.

I know that may sound dirty when it is red hot outside because it would need freshening up, but it is just impossible to dry my hair when it is boiling hot outside. So, I bob around in the pool with my head as far above the water as I can manage, then to freshen it up in an evening I would just go in with far too much dry shampoo. I am sure that if anybody out there has thick hair or extensions like I do, then I am sure you will feel my pain and understand where I am coming from!

Hawaiian Tropic Sun Oil
I am quite possibly the biggest advocate for looking after skin. When I am abroad I always smother myself in SPF. My thinking is that you only have one skin, so you need to look after it because it is the largest organ in your body. Plus, my nan has had skin cancer a couple times and the idea just terrifies me because I have very sensitive skin and quite a lot of moles. So, in order to stay protected, but to ensure that I get a lovely tan, I opt for the Hawaiian Tropic Sun Oil and I have to admit that I really bloody love this stuff. This has been my go to product for many years and I really would recommend it to everybody.

What I love about this product is not only does it have the SPF that my skin needs, it also makes my skin feel lovely. With this, I don’t get a greasy film like you can often get with sun protection, it soaks into the skin really beautifully and makes my skin look hydrated and really healthy. I also find that with this being an oil, it allows me to catch the sun even better and gives me a really stunning and healthy-looking tan. This is my absolute go to product whenever I go on holiday!

Chanel No5
I know that I mention this perfume all of the time and that most people are probably sick of it by now, but I am completely in love with it. If you saw my review on this foundation, then I am sure that you are aware that I absolutely adore this beautiful perfume. I have been using this for many years at this point and when I am on holiday I like to stick to what I know, and I always opt for this Chanel No5 perfume. There is just something about this perfume that speaks to me and I think that is the reason why I simply cannot stop using it.

When I was on holiday, I would use this morning, noon and night. I would spritz some of this on as we went out for breakfast, throughout the day just to freshen up a little and then before we went out in an evening. I would even spray it through my hair just to further freshen it up after going in with my dry shampoo. I know that this is a pricey item, but it really is my favourite and when I am on holiday I want to feel my best and smell my best and that is why I opt for this perfume!

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation
I never wear makeup during the day time when I am on holiday because I want to naturally catch some sun on my face and I am always loaded up with sun cream. But, because I do like to sunbathe, I also look like a lobster most evenings before my tan turns a lovely deep olive shade, and that is why I need a good foundation for the evening and my choice at the moment has been the Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation and I have to admit that I am loving it and at the moment, nothing seems to be able to top it which is why it came on holiday with me!

What is incredible about this product is the level of coverage that you get from just the smallest amount. All I have to do is apply one small dot on my cheek and once I blend it out everything is covered from my redness and the hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. To say that this Marc Jacobs Foundation has such a high level of coverage, it is also incredibly comfortable on the skin and that is why it is perfect for when I am on holiday. I would highly recommend this foundation to anybody that loves coverage like I do!

Vaseline Body Moisturiser
I know that I have probably said this about every single item that I have mentioned in this post, but I really could not have been without this Vaseline Body Moisturiser on my holiday. I have dry skin anyway, so when I am on holiday and I am baking away in the sun and apply different lotions and potions to my skin in order to get a tan, I can dry out very quickly and my skin ends up becoming quite scale like, so this has been an absolute god send over the past couple of weeks.

What I would do is when I am back from lounging by the pool and I have showered, I will layer this on. I would go in with a really thin layer of this and then leave it 5 minutes. I would then go in with another layer on top to really help hydrate my skin. I particularly concentrate the product towards the bottom of my calves because they can get very dry and even end up been quite painful and itchy. I have tried lots of different moisturisers and after suns over the years, but this is the only one that I really feel makes a difference to my skin and that is why I go back to this one time and time again!

Maybelline Waterproof Mascara
There really is no question about whether I need a waterproof mascara when I am on holiday. Not only because it is warm and because I am in and out of the pool, but the only mascara going on my lashes has to be waterproof. On an everyday basis I tend to wear a standard mascara and not a waterproof because I feel like they are blacker, but on holiday I sacrifice the depth of the shade in order to ensure that I’m not going to look like a panda bear when I am hopping in and out of the pool. Not to mention that while I am sunbathing I swear buckets, so I need something that isn’t going to transfer!

I really love the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara but in the waterproof version. I am sure that you guys will already know that I love the regular Lash Sensational because it is a great drugstore mascara, and this is a great waterproof mascara. I haven’t tried many waterproof mascaras, because I don’t really feel the need because I have this one and it is lovely and reliable. I am sure that most people will agree that when it comes to going on holiday, a waterproof mascara is an absolute must have beauty product.

Wide Tooth Comb
I said earlier in this post that I get Hagrid hair on holiday and I really did mean it and what is why my wide tooth comb is an absolute must have. When the humidity and heat reach a certain point, with my already curly hair there is absolutely no way that I am going to be able to get a hair brush through my thick ass locks and that is where this wide tooth comb comes into play. I reached for this almost constantly and more or less couldn’t leave my hotel room without it.

I would use this first thing in the morning when I wake up, straight away if I had been swimming, if I was fresh out of the shower and the last thing at night before I got into bed. It is the only thing that would somehow tame my unruly hair and it was in my hand more than I care to admit. I think the one that I have is just a cheap one that I picked up from Boots, it barely cost me any money, but I really couldn’t be without this in my handbag when the weather is hot!

Sensationail Red Gel
I have mentioned it before here on my blog, but I gel my own nails. I do it myself because firstly, I can do it and it is pretty easy to do. It works out much cheaper for me to do my own nails, plus I hate having to sit with somebody and make small talk whilst they do my nails. When it comes to doing my own gel nails, I always opt for Sensationail products. I know that some people don’t think that the quality is amazing, but it is what I have always used and to be honest, they work like an absolute dream for me.

When I am on holiday on my nails I always opt for red. I just love how red pops when you are on holiday and makes you look lovely and tanned. I also love that the bright red from Sensationail is really vivid and bright which is perfect for the summer months. I would recommend giving these a go for anybody who is thinking about doing their own nails because these are lovely quality and I find that they last really well on my nails. Plus, these are a really great price when it comes to gel nails.

Anyway, I will leave this post here, there are a couple more products that I could have mentioned, but I will cut myself on before I ramble no even more. I will leave a link to some of the products down below if they are available. Make sure to leave me a comment below and let me know what products you swear by when you are on holiday!
