Maybelline Colossal Mascara Review

I thought that I would finally share with you guys my review of the Maybelline Colossal Mascara. I have been using this mascara for a really long time and I have to admit that I do really enjoy using it. I don’t really know why I have left it so long before I uploaded this review, I think it is because I am not really much of a mascara connoisseur. For me, a mascara has always been a means to an end and something that I need to do to make my lashes look long and black, but other than that they don’t really entice me that much. But, since I started using this Maybelline Colossal Mascara, I have realised what other mascaras can do for you and that is why I wanted to share this with you guys.

When it comes to a mascara, it is very rare that I will buy the same one more than once. I don’t know what it is, but usually by the time I am reaching the end of a mascara, I am ready to try something new and it always tends to be from the drugstore. But, when I got to the end of this mascara, I went ahead and bought another one because as I was using it, I realised that it ticks every single box that I want from a mascara and that is why I thought I would just stick to what I know and enjoy. I think that this is actually the first time that I have stuck with the same mascara!

When I say that I have tried a lot of mascaras over the years, I really do mean it. I have tried everything from very high end like Chanel and LancĂ´me to cheaper drugstore alternatives and even though I do like them and I think they do a good job, I have to admit that nothing has come close in comparison to this £4 mascara from Maybelline. Anyway, let me tell you why I am loving this Maybelline Colossal Mascara so much…

The first reason why I love this mascara and keep reaching for it is the wand. I love that this is a comb like wand that is slightly curved which allows it to get to each one of your lash hairs and coats them evenly. I know that the wand isn’t the be all and end all when it comes to a mascara, but I have to enjoy using it and it has to feel comfortable using it around my eyes. I also find that the odd time that I have got this a little too close to my eyes, it isn’t harsh on my eyes or hurt them like a brush type of wand would do.

Another thing that I am really enjoying about this Colossal Mascara is that the product itself is absolutely jet black. I find that with some drugstore mascaras, they are black, but tend to dry down to a deep grey shade and when I apply mascara, I want something that is completely jet black. I think it is safe to say that out of every mascara that I have tried, including high end products, this is the deepest shade mascara that I have ever tried. I have tried the normal and the waterproof version of this mascara and I find that the normal version is much deeper than the normal.

The last thing that I want to mention is that with this mascara I have noticed absolutely no clumping what so ever. Each morning when I am applying this, I like to go in with a layer, let it dry down a touch and then I go in with another light layer. I have never experienced any form of clumping and my lashes never look spidery. I think that is probably because the consistency of the mascara itself if quite thin and that makes it apply and glide through the lash hairs really smoothly and easily, and I think that is one of the main reasons why I reach for this mascara time and time again!

Anyway, I will leave this review here. I think I have made it quite clear about how I feel about this Maybelline Colossal Mascara. This is a great mascara and for the money I really don’t think that you can go wrong with it. I am going to leave a link to this down below in case you want to check it out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this out and tell me what you thought about it. If not, tell me what some of your favourite mascaras are and I will have to check them out for myself!
