April Favourites

From this month onwards, I am planning on uploading my monthly favourites each month. I love it when a new month comes by because I get to sit down and have a read through people’s favourites and watch their videos. I find so many new products that I want to try by checking out favourites posts, because it really gives me a chance to see what people have been going back to time and time again. Also, I test hell of a lot of new makeup each month and it is hard to share it all with you, so this gives me a chance to show you guys what I really think is worth the money from the past month.

In April, I had a big turning point when it came to makeup. I think I was going through a rough patch with my OCD and I was completely fed up with how my makeup was looking. I felt like no matter what products or tools I was using there was just something not quite right. So, I had a day where I sat at my vanity and cleared out all of the makeup that I found just wasn’t working for me anymore. I had such a huge clear out and I must have binned thousands of pounds worth of products. But I obviously had to then restock so I have some new gems that I am going to share with you in this post!

Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation
The first product that I want to talk about in this blog post is the one that I am loving the most. When I first saw this being mentioned online and in YouTube videos I knew that it was going to be the foundation for me. After hunting around, I finally found that Harrods were selling it and I had to treat myself to it. From the very first moment that I tried this out, I was in love with it and I have been using it ever since. Forget everything that you think you know about full coverage foundations because this one will without a doubt blow it out of the water and redefine the meaning.

Just the smallest amount of this foundation goes the longest way. I am sure you have seen the YouTube videos online, but all you need is the smallest dot of this on your face and when you blend it out, it will hide absolutely everything. There is so much that I love about this Marc Jacobs Remarcable Foundation from the level of coverage, the consistency, longevity and shade range. I just can't get enough of this at the moment and I can tell that this is going to be my go to foundation for a very long time indeed!

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
You guys might have seen my review on this MAC Pro Longwear concealer from a couple of weeks that I uploaded and if you did, you will know that I am completely obsessed with it. It isn’t very often that I completely fell in love with a product, but I have very much so with this one. I have been on the market for a full coverage concealer for quite a while now and I feel like I can finally stop the hunt now that I have this bad boy in my life. There are just so many incredible things about this concealer that keep me reaching for it again and again and that is what makes a product a favourite.

Firstly, I love how full coverage this concealer is. I have quite a few areas on my face that I like to cover from my hyperpigmentation to my dark circles. With just a small amount of this, everything that I want to be covered is completely hidden. This is also a very lightweight concealer that I found doesn’t settle into fine lines around the eyes or mouth. The colour selection is really nice and there is something for everybody. There isn’t really much more that I can say about this other than it has became my go to product and I always love how my makeup turns out when I use this.

Chanel Cream Bronzer
I am sure that you guys will have seen this product being mentioned over the years because it is such an iconic makeup product. I have owned this for such a long time now and I still love it just as much as I did the first day when I brought it home. I had seen this product all over YouTube and I thought that it looked incredible whenever it was being used. I went to the counter and had a play around with this and checked the shade out and in the end, I had to go for it and try it out for myself. I think this set me back around £35 but I thought that it was well worth the money and I use it all the time.

This product is great for bringing life back to the face after I have gone in with my foundation and concealer. Because I use primarily full coverage products, I need something to bring some colour and dimension back into the face and that is what this is for me. What I like to do is take my MAC 187 Duo Fibre Brush and give it a good swirl in this powder and then buff it into the high points of the face. I am never very precise with this because I don’t want something to look harsh. With this product you really can mimic a sun-kissed kind of look and that is why I continue to reach for this.

Anastasia Brow Pomade
You guys should know by now that this is my new obsession. I tried this brow pomade out a couple of months ago and let me tell you that when I first got this through the post I bloody struggled with it. For the life of me, I just couldn’t get this to work for me and for it to look good. I found that it looked waxy a lot of the time and it just didn’t seem to suit me. It wasn’t until I really took some time to try and get the hang of it that I really started to see just how good this Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade can look when it is applied well and now I am hooked on it and cannot stop using it!

How I apply this Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade is using a precise angled brush by Anastasia. What I like to do is take a small amount of product on the very tip of the brush and I wipe the sides to ensure that it is razor sharp. I will then take that product and feather it through the brows to create a very natural and full looking brow. I just think that it really does take some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, you can get your brows on in minutes and they look really good!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I can tell that this is going to be one of them products that you are going to keep seeing here on my blog. It isn’t very often that I fall in love with a mascara because they are just a generic makeup product to me that is a means to an end. Even though I love makeup, in my book all mascaras do the same thing, they make your lashes long and black. But, it wasn’t until I tried this Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara that I really fell in love with this product. I guess it just takes one good product to see what you have been missing with other products that you have been using.

What I love about this Maybelline Mascara and why I have been using it so much is because it just does every single thing that I want from a mascara. It lengthens my lashes, makes them jet black, doesn’t transfer and lasts well all-day long. I even really love the wand on this mascara because it is curved to fit the shape of your eye so with minimal effort it hits every single one of your lashes. Honestly for the price that this mascara was, I don’t think that you can get much better, I know that I am going to love this for a very long time indeed!

MAC Spice Lip Liner
This is the first of two MAC lip products that I am going to talk about and they are both cult classic products. I am pretty sure that I own every single MAC lip liner shade that they have going. While I was playing around with my makeup over the past couple of weeks and having my big clear out, I found this lip pencil and remembered how much I used to love it. I can remember that this was my go to lip liner throughout my whole time at college and I could literally not leave the house without having one of these in my handbag, it was my staple makeup item.

This is a stunning neutral shade which has the whole 90’s grunge thing about it. This is the link of lip pencil that I will wear no matter what I am doing with my lips. I will reach for this if I am having a basic makeup day just to enhance my lips, if I am wearing a full face of makeup or even under a red lip to plump my lips and help define the shape. I am loving how this looks and it is fair to say that it is a firm favourite of mine at the moment. I love it when you find hidden gems like this in your makeup collection that you already own because it is like a free treat to yourself!

MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick
I know that you are all probably rolling your eyes into the back of your head because this is another MAC product, but I cannot help it this month. I don’t usually go in so heavy on all of the MAC products, but this past month I have been trying a lot of new makeup out. I am sure that you will have heard of this lipstick over the years because it is one of the brands most popular selling lipsticks. This is one of them cult classic shades that I think every single makeup addict should really try out, which was made popular a couple of months back by the young Kylie Jenner and her ever growing lips!

I have had this sat on my shelf for such a long time. When I was working as a freelance makeup artist, I had to go out and buy hell of a lot of shades including enough nude tones to match different skin tones and that is where I first discovered the shade Velvet Teddy. This is a nude lipstick with a pink undertone that brings some warmth back to the lips. I think that this is the perfect neutral shade for people like me with medium/tanned skin and it is that why I reach for it so often. I think I must be on my third tube of this stuff since I first bought it and it has been my absolute go to through the month of April.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Perfume
I am sure that it will come as no surprise to you guys that I am mentioning this stunning Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt Perfume in this blog post. I did a review on this perfume a couple of weeks ago and I made it quite clear that I am completely in love with it. I bought this because I fell in love with my Pomegranate Noir perfume by Jo Malone and I wanted something that was a little lighter and fresher for the warmer months and that is exactly what this perfume is to me. Plus, with it being from the brand Jo Malone you know straight away that it is going to be a really nice quality.

I think that the name of this perfume really does hit the nail on the head when it comes to what the undertones of this perfume really are. You can get the woody kind of scent coming through and the you are hit with a salty scent that just seems to pull everything together. When I say the name to people, they don’t really seem bothered about it being called Woos Sage and Sea Salt, but I think that people need to smell this for themselves before they make their mind up about it. Honestly, whenever I wear this perfume I get so many compliments of people, which is always a really nice thing to hear!

Batiste Dry Shampoo
For such a long time, I stayed well away from dry shampoos. I thought that it was actually quite disgusting that people would pile their hair up with dry shampoo rather than just jump in the shower and wash it. My sister for one was probably the main customer for Batiste and she would load this into her hair just to try and get away without washing it for another day. It wasn’t until I actually tried this for myself that I realised how much I bloody needed this stuff in my life and now that I have this, I am never going to let it go. I even have 5 of the brunette versions lined up on my shelf so that I never have to be without this.

The reason why I started using this was because I got pre-bonded hair extensions and I could no longer wash my hair every day like I had done previously. Because of how long my extensions took to dry, I could only wash them once or twice a week at a maximum, so I turned to dry shampoo to help see me through the week. I love how this looks. I thought that it would look strange, but honestly it is completely undetectable. Plus, not only does it prolong my hair in-between washes, it also helps me to add some life and body into my hair which is something that my natural and thin hair really does need!

I will leave this post here before I make it far too long. I will leave links down below to everything that I have mentioned in case you want to check it out for yourself. Make sure leave me a comment and share with me what some of your April favourites were!
