Estee Lauder Maximum Cover Foundation Review

I have owned this Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover for such a long time and I cannot believe that I am only just getting around to uploading my review on it. I ordered this such a long time ago and I have been putting it through its paces and really trying to get a feel for the foundation before I let you guys know what I thought about it because from the first time I tried it, I was very unsure about it. I don’t know what it was about this product that just kind of divides my opinion, it could just be because it is pretty different to any foundation that I have used before. But anyway, it is about time that I upload this review!

When I first ordered this foundation from the Boots website, I spent some time before hand looking into the shades and staring at swatches online to try and find my perfect colour. I have never tried an Estee Lauder foundation before so the whole shade system was pretty new to me, but in the end, I found one that I thought would be similar. When I ordered this and got the box in the mail, I noticed that I had two of these in the same shade in my box. I rang Boots to query it because on my invoice it only showed that I had ordered one and they told me that I should keep it. Which is a good thing considering that I actually like it because I would have a backup!

Like any review that you will find here on my blog, the first thing that I want to talk about is the packaging. I like to talk about the packaging first because it is the first thing that you see about a product. Personally, I love that this foundation comes in a squeezy tube. I think that it would be great for travelling with because you know that it isn’t going to smash in your luggage. I also really like that you squeeze this foundation out rather than having a pump because you are in control of how much foundation you use, and it stops any waste. I also love the navy and the gold, I think it is still luxe in a low-cost tube!

Next up, I want to talk about the shade of this foundation. When I looked at the shades of this online, there seemed to be quite a few medium tones and I really loved how they looked. When I got this Estee Lauder Maximum Cover foundation in the mail, I loved the shade of it and it seemed to match me really well. It wasn’t until I started applying this all over the face and buffing it un using my Morphe M439 that I realised that there was an issue with the shade. As I buffed this into the skin, the colour seemed to alter and look strange on my skin. What was once a nice tan/olive shade being now a grey and ashy toned foundation, that made me look very dull and lifeless.

What is great about this foundation is the level of coverage that it provides. I know that it is called ‘Maximum Cover’, and I really agree with that statement. With just one swipe of this down my face on the end of my buffing brush and everything is completely covered. It hides everything on my face from my hyper pigmentation to the darkness underneath my eyes with ease. Most foundations I have to go in with a second layer in order to get a decent amount of coverage, but that really isn’t needed with this Estee Lauder Maximum Cover foundation and that is why I really wanted this to work for me.

I also like the consistency of this foundation. When you squeeze some out onto the back of your hand or onto a palette, it is easy to see that it is quite a thick foundation because it comes out in lines and holds its form rather than running out. When it is applied to the face, it has quite a mousse like texture to it, which makes it feel very light and airy on the skin. I also find that it helps it blend in and look very beautiful on the skin especially when paired with a nice concealer and set into place with powder.

I really do like this foundation and I wish that it worked for me with the colour. I have gone into store and swatched a couple of the other shades of this and I feel like it is the same with them all when you start to work with the product. I will use this foundation because I have paid for it and I don’t want it to go to waste, but I don’t think that I would be repurchasing the same shade. I will leave a link to this down below in case you want to check it out and find out some more about this product. Make sure to leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried this foundation and what you thought about it!
