Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Cream Palette Review

I cannot believe that I am sat here at my desk writing a blog post about this Tom Ford palette. This has been on my wishlist for so many years and when I say year, I really do mean years. I can remember seeing this on blogs so many years ago and I really wanted to try it out. Back then though, I didn’t have the luxury of being able to spend this much on one item of makeup, so it sat on my wishlist for many years. But as some of you will know, I have been trying out hell of a lot more by Tom Ford and I have been loving it, so I thought that it was finally time to treat myself to this stunning Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Cream Palette.
Now, before people start to jump down my throat, I know that Tom Ford is a really expensive brand. I don’t do these posts to brag to other people that I have money, I just do them to let you guys know what they are honestly like, in case you were thinking of buying this. I know that I have uploaded quite a few Tom Ford items over the past few months but that is just because I really love the products and I think that they perform really well. Before I go into every single high-end purchase I always make sure that I do lots of research beforehand and if I don’t think that it will work for me, then I simply wouldn’t buy it.

From the moment I saw this palette online, I wanted to try it out for myself. But, to start with, I didn’t really know what this palette was, I thought it was an under-eye kind of highlight and a contouring shade, but I was wrong. This is a nice cream contouring shade, but the highlighter is more of a shimmery highlighter for the tops of the cheekbones rather than an opaque under-eye lighter. To be honest, when I found out, I still wanted to try this out all the same. It made me think that it would be along the same lines as the Charlotte Tilbury Cream Filmstar Bronze and Glow which they released limited edition and I loved it at the time!
I have been reaching for this over the past few weeks on a near enough daily basis. I tend to go in with my foundation and then concealer, then to bring some life back into my face. I like to take the contouring shade on my damp beauty blender and then I just apply it to the upper part of my forehead and in the hollows of my cheekbones. I find that it helps to give colour to the face and works more of a natural looking bronzer rather than a chiselled-out contour kind of look. The highlighter is a very light shade that appears as more like a sheen on the face rather than a stark highlighter. I have been loving the highlighter because I’m not a fan of the over shimmery look, so this is ideal for me!

One of the things that I noticed about this palette almost immediately was how nice and creamy it was. I have tried many palettes that are similar to this and even though they are nice, most of the product has been quite tough and hard to blend, this is the opposite. From the moment this is on the face and heat starts to work through it, it becomes so quick and easy to blend. Barely any effort is requiring getting this looking stunning. The consistency of this really is to die for and it is so pretty on the skin. I have tried this out with lots of different foundations and with different tools and no matter what I pair this Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Palette, it seems to work like a dream.
I wouldn’t say that this palette offers any kind of coverage, but that isn’t why I bought this palette. Both the contour and highlight shade are quite sheer on the skin, but because my foundation is pretty full coverage, I don’t need an opaque level of coverage from this product. And I think because it does have a light level of coverage, it is this what makes it really nice and easy to blend into other products. I feel like when I reach for this product, it just seems to pull all of my look together and tit takes my base from looking quite basic, to glowing and natural.
I was going to write a nice and long post about this product, but I really don’t have much to say other than how much I love this. It is a really lightweight product on the skin that does an amazing job of defining the face and making it look glowing and healthy. This blends in really nice with other makeup, it never looks cakey and most importantly it lasts all day long. I am a huge fan of this Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate palette and I have been reaching for it every single day recently. I know for a fact that when I start to run low on this, I will have to put in another order straight away.
As normal, I will leave a link down below to this product in case you want to check it out for yourself. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what you think about this if you have tried it out or if it is on your wishlist!

  3. The reason why I don't prefer creamy formulas is the fact that most of them are hard to work with and blend. Glad to hear that this one is the opposite and you love it so much!

  5. I don't think you need to justify buying this because it's expensive! I know where you're coming from though because when I post about expensive products, there are sometimes little digs. I'm not saying expensive products are must haves - just sharing my thoughts in case someone is in the market for them, in the same way you are!

Rant over - this has been on my wish list for the longest time and I think this year, I will finally make it mine! Do you think it would work just as well with a different brand of brush! xx
