What I Look Forward To At Christmas

I feel like there is always so much to look forward to at Christmas time. I look forward to Christmas all year long and as soon as it is all over and I have to go back to work I get a serious case of the January blues. As I get older I feel like I am appreciating it more and more. A couple years ago, I was a full on grumpy teenager about it all and it didn’t really bother me. But, now that we have young children in the family and I am working hard throughout the year I really do cherish the time that I get to have with my loved ones around Christmas.

So, in this post I am going to be letting you know the things that I am most looking forward to this Christmas time. I am really lucky in the fact that I get 2 full weeks off work at Christmas and I crave them by this time of year when I have only had a little bit of time off here and there, so I am literally dragging myself to the finish line at this point. Anyway, on with the post…

Spending time with my family
At Christmas time, I feel like I am joined at the hip to all of my family and that is just how I like it. I feel like my front door is like a revolving door and somebody is always dropping by. To me, this is what I love about Christmas. Just having the freedom to see my loved ones whenever I like. We just all have such a laugh together and it is so nice to be able to spend some quality time together rather just an hour here and there like it is in the year when we all have work.

Getting to spoil people
My family and my friends are everything to me so I love getting to treat them at Christmas time. I used to hate buying presents for other people because I used to think, “That could have been a new pair of Louboutin’s for me”, but I guess as you grow up all that changes. Now, I love seeing the look on peoples face when you nail their Christmas present. I just like been able to give back to the people, that have given so much to me throughout the whole year.

Eating my own body weight in everything bad for me
I try to eat pretty good all year long. My bridesmaid diet has been well and truly on these past few months so I cannot wait to finally be able to eat what I want. I just want to wake up first thing in the morning and not feel guilty about eating a huge tub of Celebrations. I feel like Christmas is the only real time of year where you can overindulge and nobody can really judge you for it. So, when I have 6 Yorkshire with my Christmas dinner nobody is allowed to judge me!

Having nights out with my friends
Me and my friends all have different commitments and it can be so hard for us all to get together. At Christmas, we always make sure to have a good blow out together. We usually get dolled up to the nines, go into the city, have far too many cocktails and just have a gossip. We used to go clubbing and bar hop, but we just love to talk to each other so now we will nestle somewhere in a booth, have drink on tap and just laugh all night long, these nights are my favourite.

Been off work for a while
I like my job, but I also love been away from the place. I love having time off and I just don’t have enough of it through the year. I cannot wait to have constant lay ins, not have to get out and showered first thing in the morning. I am just craving being lazy and not really doing much. A couple years ago, when the Christmas break came around all I ever wanted to do was go out every night, but now I am like an 80-year-old in a 23 year olds body and all I want is early nights and big lay ins!
There you have it. They are the things that I am most looking forward to this Christmas. I know them things aren’t what Christmas is about, it is about faith. But, I guess it means different thing to everybody especially when you aren’t in any form religious like me.  I just want to make the most of every minute before I go back to work and make this year a Christmas to remember. For me and my boyfriend it is going to be our first Christmas with our own home so we are really going to make the most of it!
