My Blogs 2nd Birthday!

On this day two years ago, I sat in bed with my laptop and I created my blog. I had wanted to create it for such a long time before I just bit the bullet and went for it. I was so nervous about creating this for a few reasons. One of them being that I didn’t want people I know to read it and take the piss out of me; the other reason was that I didn’t know if people would be interested in hearing what I had to say and the third was I just didn’t know if I was good enough. After hell of a lot of self-doubt and going backwards and forwards with the idea, I just decided that I would go for it and give it a couple months to see if it was something I wanted to carry on with.
I wanted to start my blog, purely with the intention of helping people out. I buy hell of a lot of stuff, whether it be makeup, clothes, shoes or handbags, and I wanted to share what I know about them things, in the hope that I may help other people out. Even if I didn’t have my blog, I would still spend my money on them things, so I thought I may as well try and create a really impartial place, where I can give honest reviews and hopefully try and help people save money, or find something amazing.

Even though right from the off, I did love blogging, there has been times where I thought about quitting. One of the reasons was because of time. When I first started my blog, I don’t think I ever really thought about what goes into it. It is easy to read a post online and think that it was just thrown together but that just isn’t the case. And with my blog and full-time job, I didn’t feel like I had a moment to myself. I did take a break, and I am glad that I did, because it made me realise how much I wanted to carry on with this.
Another reason why I thought about throwing the towel in is because I just didn’t feel like I belonged in the blogging community. When you follow bloggers on social media you can see them all chatting to each other and they are genuinely friends with each other. I just didn’t feel like a part of it all and I felt pretty left out. But at the end of the day I just thought about the reason why I started my blog and put all of that aside and just cracked on with the part of blogging that I love.
Once I got over those thoughts I just put my head down and persevered with it and I really have caught the bug for it. Everything is planned out for my blog and I feel like I finally have a smooth-running machine. I know that my blog still has a long way to go to be within the same realms of some of the blogs out there, but I love uploading content and when I look back to some of my earlier posts, I am incredibly proud of how far it has come along.

I won't turn this into another really long post, I will leave it here. I really cannot believe that I have been doing this for two whole years. I love every single minute of it and I am so grateful for everything that I have got because of it. I know that this will never be a main earner for me, but I love getting to engage with people and if I am helping just 1 person out, then I am more than happy about it. I never imagined that I would love blogging half as much as I do, and I hope I will still love it in another two years’ time!

  6. Happy Second Birthday to your blog!
Your reasons for starting a blog - as well as your fears in doing so are exactly the same reasons as what I had, but I'm now so glad that I did!
