Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette Review

Now, where do I even start with this Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette. When I first saw this palette mentioned on the Charlotte Tilbury Instagram page, I knew that I was going to have to try it out. I wanted it that much, I even signed up to the mailing list to be alerted the minute that it was live on the website, I never do things like that because you end up getting spammed to within an inch of your life afterwards. I guess that just shows how much I really wanted to get my hands on this makeup palette. When I first got this in the post at the end of September, I wanted to do a post on it, but I really wanted to test it and put it through its paces before I even mentioned it here on my blog.
The first thing that I feel like I need to mention in this review post is the out of this world packaging. It is very similar to the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow palette. A very vintage feel with the gold packaging. I could imagine this sitting on Marilyn Monroe’s vanity back in the day. When I am paying a high price point for a product, I expect the packaging to look nice so that I can see where my money has gone. When I’m not using this palette, I like to just leave it out on display because it is far too stunning to hide away in a drawer.

Now onto the actual product itself. When I first opened this Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette, I think it is hard to disagree that the colours are so stunning. I love the concept of having 4 sets of 3 eyeshadows to create different looks with. I can imagine that this palette would be good for beginners because the shades that work well together are already together, but for me, I just like to go in and use that shades that I want to use. I also think that there is a good range of colours in this palette, all which are quite neutral shades and they are the kind of shades that I love and use on a daily basis.
Having used this palette for quite a while now I can tell you that the quality of the shadows is really nice. They are not intense pigment like some eyeshadows are now, but they do still have a good colour pay off. If you have followed my blog for some time you will know that I already have the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette and I have used it half to death and I am still obsessed with it. I would say that the quality in my book does match the standard of the incredibly popular quads that she already has released. I have had no issues blending any of the shadows in this palette out and it always looks stunning. My motto when applying eyeshadow is to always go in with a small amount and then built up the colour and that seems to work really well with this.

The only thing that I guess is a concern about this palette is the amount of product that you get in the pans. Each eyeshadow is only 0.02oz/0.7g, which is pretty small. When you compare that with the Urban Decay Naked palette, there are 12 shades in that, same as the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette and with that you get more than double the amount of product that you do in this Charlotte Tilbury palette. And not to mention that the Urban Decay Naked Palette is only £39 and this Charlotte Tilbury Instant Eye Palette set me back £60. For reference a single MAC eyeshadow is £10 and you get 1.6g of product.
I know that the amount of product isn’t really an issue for some people and they will just want to try it for the quality of the shadows and because it’s by Charlotte Tilbury. But, I know for a fact that the shadows that I have fallen in love with are going to run out in no time at all and then I have a decision to make whether I repurchase a whole new palette just for them shades, or if I go back to something like my MAC Pro Palette where I can switch out individual shades. But, to me this isn't really an issue, I just love how this looks and I know that I am going to be reaching for it on a daily basis!

I really do think the shadows are stunning, they blend out like a dream and the colour combinations are perfection. The quality of the eyeshadows is still there and it matches the quality of her other eyeshadow quads. My fear is that this is going to run out in no time at all and it is a pricey palette to have to keep repurchasing. But, I will keep you updated on just how long it took for me to hit pan on this truly stunning item. To me, this really was a winner and I am loving reaching for it at the moment. I will leave a link to this item down below in case you want to check it out and find some more out about it. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and if you have tried this out for yourself let me know what you thought about it.

  7. What a stunning palette! I haven't actually seen this palette around so this post is great! £60 for a palette makes my eyes water a little bit (Huda Beauty is £56 though I guess) but this is soooo pretty! I'd love to see a look that you create with it!

  9. I was so nervous about buying this, because like you said it is PRICEY, but I just adore it. I'm reaching for it most days and feel like it suits me a lot more than other similar palettes! I'm not sure if I could justify repurchasing it when it runs out, but I'll just need to see at the time. I can't really imagine not using it now! x
