Revisited: YSL Touche Eclat Foundation

I can remember years ago seeing this foundation in Boots and being smitten with it. And when I say years ago I literally mean it, I must have only been about 15 and I had to beg my mum and dad to get it me for Christmas. At that time everybody my age was using Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse and my mum and dad were happy buying that at only £5 a pot. I ended up getting my own way after much perseverance.
What I can remember about this foundation mainly is just the scent. It smelt so expensive and luxurious and I think that clouded my judgement. I loved it straight away just because of the smell of it and that is the still that has stuck in my head more than anything else. So, I thought it is about time that I refreshed myself and added into part of my revisited series.
I went into Boots and bought my shade. The first thing I noticed is that they have updated the packaging and that to me screamed that the formula must have changed too, which I think is true, but it isn’t significantly different. I got the shade that I used to get because I can remember it being perfect, I am sure it as BD50 which is a great shade with olive undertones and it never looks orange.

The first thing that I noticed when I went to apply this foundation was the scent that I remembered far too well. It is practically the same. That same kind of rich smell that just oozed expense. I know for some people they hate scented foundations but you can only notice it while you are applying it, after a couple of minutes it does fade and you can’t even smell it. Well, I can’t anyway.
Next, the coverage. I actually remember this foundation been more full coverage, or maybe back then when I was just a spring chicken I had less to cover. I would say that this does apply as a medium coverage but it can be built up to be more intense if you want it to be. I just went in with a little more product on my Morphe M439 and patted more foundation into the skin and it did cover it.
What I loved about this foundation is that it really is true to colour. Throughout the day this foundation doesn’t oxidise in the slightest which is perfect for me because that is one of my biggest bug bears. It means that I can wear this all day to work and I don’t have to worry about having to use a powder to alter the colour of my face which I find is the case with a lot of high end foundations these days.
The other things that I remembered how much I love about this foundation is how it feels on the skin. To say it is nice and buildable, it never feels cakey. It still just feels like a nice moisturiser on the skin. It was really nice and light and made the skin look really hydrated. Which for me with oily skin isn’t always a good thing but it didn’t make me any oiler than normal which is a god send.
I really do think that this is one of them foundations that people will love or hate. You will either like that there is a scent to it or it will be a deal breaker. And to some medium coverage just isn’t enough but for me and for everyday use I think that this is a perfect foundation that I know I am going to carry on using after this revisited post.
As normal with all of my revisited posts I will leave a link down below to where you can find this foundation if you want to check it out and learn a little more about it. Let me know in the comments down below if you have tried this foundation and what you think about it!

    1. That is such a shame, it is quite heavy with the fragrance though, I wonder if that caused it!

  4. Sounds incredible and I also love medium coverage for every day. It's great that it doesn't feel cakey and moisturizes the skin. A winner! x
