MAC Lip Pencil in Whirl Review

I have finally got around to trying out the MAC liner in Whirl and I know that I am very late in jumping onto this bandwagon. I don’t know why I put off buying this for so long. I wouldn’t normally dedicate a full post for a simple lip liner, because at the end of the day there isn’t much to them, but with this iconic baby, I knew that I had to let you guys know just how much I love this one, because it really does stand out from all of the others that I have in my collection, and trust me when I say that I have hell of a lot of lip liners in my collection, especially MAC and Charlotte Tilbury ones!
I think what put me off this lip liner for the longest time was the whole craze around Kylie Jenner and it being her favourite. For one, I couldn’t get my hands on it for the longest time because it would always sell out and secondly, I didn’t want people to think I was using it because of the association with the Kardashian and Jenner clan. As you can probably tell, I’m not the biggest fan of that family. I can appreciate how hard they work, they truly are business women and they look impeccable, there is no doubting that, they just aren’t people that I really relate to!
This isn’t going to be an overly long post, because how much can you elongate a post on what is essentially a pencil, but here we go. First thing that I love about this pencil is just the overall colour of it. Whirl lipstick, to me is pretty much a perfect match for my natural lip colour, if anything it is just a touch deeper and this lip liner is just perfection. I would say that the MAC Whirl Lip Liner is just a fraction lighter than the lipstick, which makes it the perfect neutral for me to use on my lips, so I have been reaching for it pretty much every single day that I have been wearing makeup.

As with all MAC liners, this can be quite drying when you use it all over the lips, that in my opinion is where Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheats pull through and if they had a colour that matches this one, I would use that every single day. To me, it isn’t uncomfortable on the lips, but by no stretch is it nourishing or hydrating, I just want you guys to know everything about it. I just get around this by adding a touch of my favourite Nivea lip balm on top to add a little hydration, it keeps my lips feeling nice and stops the liner from settling into the fine lines on my lips, because we all know that isn’t a very attractive look!

My favourite way to wear this MAC Whirl Lip Liner, is the outline and ever so slightly over draw on my natural lip line, then shade in the edges using this lip pencil. When that is in place I will either go in with MAC Velvet Teddy on top or the Charlotte Tilbury Bitch Perfect lipstick. I just find that when I pair this lip pencil with either of them lipsticks it just gives me a really stunning and neutral look. Like I said earlier, this has quickly become my most used lip product in my whole collection and I am kicking myself that I didn’t buy it sooner and jump on that KJ bandwagon!
As normal with all posts here on my blog, I will link down below to where you can find this item. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know what your favourite lip pencil is!

  5. I still don't own this shade! I have Soar though, and it's similar and that one is my all time favorite, but I do wish MAC liners were a bit creamier as they can be drying.

  7. I still haven't tried a MAC lip liner - I'm so useless with lip liner. But I'm pretty sure this is the first one I'd get as it looks like the perfect nude shade. Really great post Danielle, I wouldn't have expected it to be drying so I'm glad I now know!
