Giorgio Amani Power Fabric Foundation Review

Since this Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation was released, I have wanted to try it out. It isn’t very often that I want to get a foundation almost as soon as it is released, but with this one, that was the case. I feel like for a spell, near enough every single YouTuber, blogger and Instagrammer splashed this foundation all over the place, which made me want it even more. I left it a couple months before buying it, so that there were some more reviews up and I finally decided the other week that it was time to go ahead and give it a go!
To start with, I ordered this foundation from the House of Fraser website, which is where I buy most of my high-end makeup from. Normally, I can nail choosing my foundation shade online. I normally try and look online of swatches on different skin tones and I will also look at YouTube videos and try and find somebody that matches my colouring. I have never been wrong before… that was until I bought this foundation, anyway.
The shade that I thought I would be was 7.5. I am an 8 in the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, but the 8 in this new Power Fabric Foundation looked like it has a red undertone and that isn’t what I like, but 7.5 looked perfect and that paired with the swatches that I had seen, I thought that I had nailed it. It wasn’t until I swatched it on the back of my hand that I realised it was far too light. In MAC talk, I am normally an NC42, and that is what an 8 in the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk matches up to, but the shade 7.5 in the Power Fabric I would say is more like an NC20, it was so light in comparison to my skin. Sometimes, I can get lighter shades to work, but there was no saving this one.

So, that night I had to go into House of Fraser and grovel for a refund, companies in the UK don’t usually refund cosmetics because of cross contamination and they don’t know if, or how much of it you have tried, but luckily, I think I got the nicest lady in the shop. She seemed to love makeup just as much as I do and I told her what had happened and how it didn’t match the Luminous Silk and she refunded me without question. Thank god for that, I may waste hell of a lot of money on makeup, but there is no way that I am spending £40 on a foundation for it just to sit in a drawer.
Anyway… onto the foundation. You get 30ml in the bottle, which is a standard amount to get in a liquid foundation. It comes in a bottle almost identical to the original Luminous Silk other than the red writing on front. Solid point for me is that it has a pump, I think at this stage, everybody will know that I despise paying for a high-end foundation and it not including a pump in the price. Them things for me, this early on are some major brownie points, it is good to go into a review with a couple points behind your back already!

When I apply this foundation, I find that it always goes on really smoothly, I have applied this with a damp Beauty Blender, my Morphe M439 and my Real Techniques Buffing Brush and each and every time it goes onto the skin really flawlessly and looks very pretty on the skin. Straight away I noticed that this foundation is much more matte than the Luminous Silk, but it still glides on the skin really effortlessly, neither is it an uncomfortable matte feeling, it just sits really nicely all-day long.
I would say that this foundation offers a medium to full coverage. It really does depend on the way that you apply this foundation. Going in with a beauty sponge and you are going to get a more sheer and natural look, if you go in with a brush like the Morphe M439 that really packs the product on, then you are going to get a much fuller coverage. I have also been able to build this foundation up in the areas that I need it, which for me is on my cheeks where I have some hyper pigmentation, it also never looks thick or cakey in the areas with an additional layer.
I have a combination skin type, which makes finding a foundation that works well for my skin, quite hard, but this Giorgio Armani Power Fabric Foundation I find tackled my problem skin quite well. To say that it is matte, it didn’t cling to any dry areas on my face, which is a huge thing for me. I always get quite oily around my nose, no matter what foundation or primer I use and that was no different with this foundation. It wasn’t anything excessive, but it didn’t help to control my oils.
Overall, with this foundation I really cannot complain. I didn’t think I could like this as much as the original Luminous Silk, but it holds up really well. Medium to full coverage, matte, comfortable finish and lasts really well on the skin all day long. I will leave a link down below to where you can find this foundation in case you want to check it out and learn some more about it. Leave me a comment down below and let me know if you have tried this foundation and what you thought about it!
