What To Do When Your Overwhelmed With Your Blog!

As much as I love my blog, which I do, I really love every moment of blogging, I also get that it can be hard to do. And when I say hard I mean sometimes it can be near on impossible to get everything done. I think from the outside it may look like bloggers don’t really do much and they just plod along, to them people I say fuck you.
Running a blog completely is like having another full-time job, it is that time consuming. You probably know by now that I actually have a full-time job away from my blog so doing the two can be as hard as hell. So, other people who are in the same position as me with either work or school I feel your pain. And, if you throw kids in that mix too then I truly do not know how you do it and I salute you women!
So, sometimes I have to take a step back and give myself a moment on them odd times when I feel a little overwhelmed. I thought for a blog post that is a little different I would let you knows know what I do on them days when it all just gets a little too much and I need a minute…

 1)       Take a step back
Sometimes what people need is a break. It is the same with anything, too much of a good thing and all that. Every now and again I queue some posts and just give myself some time where I forget everything about my blog. I will give myself a break from photography, writing content and even checking out other blogs. I just zone out and have some me time while my blog takes care of itself. Yes, traffic may have a minor dip because you aren’t generating traffic from the likes of social media and commenting on other blogs, but it gives you a good mental break that the chances are, you need!
2)       Ignore the stats
I have been a victim of this too. I see the stats of my blog steadily increasing and I become infatuated with it. I would literally be clicking onto the stats part of my blog several times a day to see where I am at. This to me just sucked the fun out of blogging. Taking a step back and ignoring them for a while made me fall in love with blogging all over again and just put the fun back into it. If you have good engagement on your blog, that is so much better than an abundance of bounces.
3)       Be true to you
The number one thing that I always try to do is be true to myself. It is so easy to be swept up in hypes and follow trends just because they are big at the time. I am so against that and conforming to the norm. I think individualism is what is important in this life. Growing up my nan always used to say to me that if everybody was the same than life would be very boring and she got it spot on. Just be you and people with either want to read what you have to say and if they don’t then fuck them. Just be you boo!
4)       Don’t compare yourself to others
As a blogger, it is so easy to start comparing your blog, your content and your images to other blogs out there. I look through blogs and I am honestly astounded by the quality of the work that they put up and even though I find it inspirational to look at how good their blog is, I try not to compare myself to them. At the end of the day, I do my darn hardest with the tools that I have and the time that I have available. Comparing yourself to others will just end in disappointment and you need to appreciate your own work for what it is.
I know first-hand that been a blogger can be bloody hard work at times. Don’t get me wrong it is really rewarding when you see your posts going live and all of the engagement that you get, but sometimes it is overwhelming and you need to give yourself some time to refresh and recharge to get ready to start all over again. I can remember one day when I was really stressed with my blog and my mum just said, "Danielle, you aren't saving lives, have a break". She was right, in my head, I blow everything out of proportion with my blog and when I think about it, if I miss a post here or there and don't reach my goals, nobody is going to be affected.

  3. I think taking a break is the best thing to do - I was on holiday for a week and didn't schedule any content for while I was away and then I was ill when I got home so had another week off and I felt it re-focused my attention & appetite for the blog! xx

  4. This is such a wonderfully written post and something so many more people should be talking about. Strangely enough I've just written one myself, on the barriers I feel when trying to blog. Reading this just reaffirms that I'm not the only one who has these feelings and makes it feel all the most human :)

  8. It's so hard to ignore the stats and take a step back but it really does make such a difference. I had a set back last month where I was looking at how rubbish they were compared to others and I remembered if I stopped worrying about others and concentrated on mine it would help so much more! Xx

  10. I often ignore my stats, for me, my blog is a hobby and I have a few people who always read and that's enough for me, anything else is a huge bonus! I just love writing!
