Signs You're A Beauty Addict!

I have been in love with makeup for as long as I can possibly remember. It started out with me just playing with my mums and my sisters makeup. Then as I started to go online more and watch YouTube videos and read blogs I knew that I had an issue. Now, I set money aside out of my wage purely for makeup a month, I do that just do I don’t go mad with it and end up spending a fortune.
So, I thought that it would be fun to do a post which shows all of the tell-tale signs that you are a beauty addict much like yours truly. This post is just a little bit of fun and nothing serious, without any more rambling I will jump into the post.
1)    You buy products even though you know they probably won’t work for you and your skin type
When anything new comes out I feel like I have to buy it and try it even though I know that it just isn’t right for my skin. I have an oily skin type but if something new comes out with the words luminous, dewy and glowing in the title I still buy it even though 98% of the time it will make me look like an oil slick and like my face is wet. I am a sucker for anything that is new!

2)    You know for a fact that you know more about products than the people on the beauty counter
I hate it when I walk into a store and I go up to the counter that I need, most of the time it is the Chanel store. I know that I want the Perfection Lumier foundation in B60. Then somebody will come up to me been all patronising asking me if I know what I want. The chances are that I know more about every single product on the stand then they do. I know they are only doing their job, but I know what I’m doing, I’ve been buying the same foundation for nearly 5 years!
3)    You are not afraid to compliment a complete stranger’s makeup and ask what they are wearing
Everybody likes to get a compliment on their makeup so I do it to people all the time. If I see somebody wearing a nice lipstick or a good pair of eyelashes I will let them know about and even, ask what shade it is and where I can get them. If something is that nice that I will compliment a stranger, if I just let it pass by it will play on my mind so I need to know where its from!
4)  Owning 100 nude lipsticks is completely normal, to know the differences even if other people don’t
Every time a delivery comes to my house, most of the time it will be Charlotte Tilbury and the chances are that it will be a lipstick. I get all excited about it and jumping around and my boyfriend will just look at me like I have two heads because it looks the same as the others that I have. True, to the untrained eye it does just look like any other nude, but to me it is ever such slightly more mauve. I know I’m not the only one who gets me on this one!
5)    You intend on just buying one things and end up buying the whole store
Most of the time I will just run into Boots on my lunch break because I have run out of something, most of the time it is my Chanel No5. Then I end up leaving with about 3 new foundations, countless mascaras and some very unnecessary lipsticks. Not to mention that I am always a sucker for the chocolate and magazines by the tills so they will come home with me as well!
6)  When you get back home from shopping your hand is covered ins swatches of 1000 different lipsticks
I must swatch everything when I go shopping, even the lipsticks that I know probably won’t look good on me, but I need to swatch it if I have swatched every other colour in the collection. It normally makes my fake tan look really patchy on the back of my left hand and up my arm from where I have to scrub it to get every inch of lipstick off my skin!
7)   Watching beauty YouTube videos is just normal and it is also normal to buy every single product that they have used
Watching beauty related YouTube videos has just become something that is completely normal to me by this point. I have been doing it for years and years. Now as well there are more beauty YouTubers than ever so there are so many videos to choose from. I am probably subscribed to well over 100 people now so just keeping up with all of the videos is like a full-time job in itself!
8)    You have a never-ending wish list
I have created a list of the things that I want to buy either just to wear on a daily basis or to review on my blog. Even though I regularly buy new makeup the list doesn’t seem to be getting any shorter. In actual fact, it is getting longer by the day. I don’t think I will ever feel like I have enough makeup in my collection, it would be good for my bank account if I did though!
9)    You plan your makeup products in advance and are more excited about applying it than you are leaving the house
If I have an occasion that I know I am going to I will sit at my vanity for hours just coming up with the perfect look that I am going to wear. Then before the actual event I will lay out every single product that I’m going to use and work my way down them. I prefer the getting ready more than the actual going out part!
10)  You have started to run out of storage for all of your makeup and the only rational thing to do is buy more storage!
The idea of actually throwing out makeup to make room for new things is completely foreign. I went out of my way to buy new storage just so I didn’t have to bin anything. I love every item that I have in collection and I’m just not ready to part with any of it yet. I know that it is crazy and slightly hoarderish but who cares… I LOVE MAKEUP!
So, there you have it. I am very proud to admit that I do every single one of these things and I know for a fact that I can’t be the only one out there who is guilty of been a beauty addict. Make sure to leave me a comment down below and let me know if you are just like me!

  1. I'm probably not THAT much of an addict, I definitely do some of these though! Although, I never buy stuff that I know won't suit me!

  4. Love this Q&A! I feel the same about shopping in store: I know they're doing their job but when they talk to me as if I didn't know anything about the beauty world I cannot help but thinking "just shut up". :)
