My Summer Makeup Essentials

I was sat at my vanity yesterday morning when I was getting ready for work and it clicked to me that I have really switched up my skincare and makeup this year for the summer. I don’t think that this is something that I have ever really done before, but it wasn’t until I looked down at all of the products that I have been using that I realised how much I had switched my routine around completely by accident.
It must have happened as the weather gradually started to get warmer I must have slowly gravitated towards these products. The reason why I wanted to do this post and let you know my summer favourites is because I have really tested out these products and they all work so well for me. Remember that I have an oily complexion, and I wore these products when I was on my little Italian adventure and every single product worked like a dream.
I won’t ramble on anymore and I will jump into it!

I always use my Benefit Porefessional Primer around my nose, I think that just goes without saying now really. But for the rest of my face I like to try out different primers and this Wonder Glow primer has been my absolute go to product, What I love about this foundation is how glowing it makes my skin looks. It really does make the skin look blurred and really soft and pretty. I think that Charlotte Tilbury describes this as an Instagram filter in a bottle and I really do have to agree with that!

This is my good old reliable foundation. I reach for this all the time and in particular this summer. It is so nice and lightweight, they have a huge range of shade options and gives a really good natural looking coverage. I would say that it has a medium coverage but it is definitely buildable. I know that no matter how hot or humid that it gets that this foundation will still look good on my skin by the time that the end of the day comes around. I think I tell everybody to check this foundation out and that is because it just works so well for me and for so many other people that I know who use and love this foundation!

I have been loving this concealer for years and this summer has been no different. It just glides on so nice and smooth and has an amazing amount of coverage for such a lightweight product. I find that when I pair this with my Beauty Blender it just blends out so nice and looks really airbrushed. I think that this will be a permanent part of my collection for a very long time because I am still to find something that tops this concealer. I am now on my sixth tube and I have no plan on slowing down with it any time soon!

When it comes to the summer I find that my skin tans really easily. So, when it comes to my foundation it can often be too light for my skin tone and this is where this concealer comes into play. I use this dark conealer and apply it around the outer parameters of the face and anywhere that the sun would naturally hit. Then I blend it in with my MAC 130 and then the MAC 187 to get it really seamless to my skin. It just adjusts the colour of my foundation slighter and make my face look like it has a natural tan even though I have a ton of foundation and concealer on my face.

Everybody who reads my blog will probably know that I have been having a love affair with the RCMA No Colour Powder for some time, but this summer my addiction to the Laura Mercier Translucent Powder has begun again. The thing that I love about this powder is how smoothly it goes on the skin. It really does feel like silk. Even when are putting it on top of some quite sticky and thick feeling products it just makes you matte and it looks really perefected. I just wish that there was a small compact of this stuff for me to take out and about for when I get oily during the day because I love it!

This is hands down my favourite bronzer in the summer months. The thing that makes the bronzer better above the others to me is that it adds a really nice sheen to the skin. In the pan, it looks like it is glittery, but when I get this on my big Tom Ford Bronzer brush and put it all over it just makes your skin look really nice and healthy. Plus, they do a couple shades in this bronzer and they cater for really fair skin to really deep which is great. I always get so many compliments when I use this and to be honest I have to admit that it does make you look like some kind of glowing goddess!

I think that I am very late onto loving this product but I am finally there. I just have to say that I am really glad that I went for the Deep shade and not the Medium. I had the medium in my basket as I was checking out on Space NK and quickly switched it over. This works so well for my skin tone and really does look like a natural contour when it is applied with a good brush and a very light hand. I was worried when I first got this because of how little you got in the packaging but you only need a very tiny amount because of how pigmented it is.

I have always gone for bronzer more so over blush and then I tried this blusher out and I was in love with it. What I have found with other blushes is that they don’t stay that well on my skin and I have to go back in with them, which isn’t easy throughout the day. The good thing about this one is that because of the two-colour combination it is really easy to get a very nice and natural flush to the face and it just makes your skin look so light and pretty looking. Then if you want a more intense look you can go in with a little more to build it up really nicely.

9)       Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita Palette
You can create so many looks with this one palette. You can go full, dramatic smokey eye, or something nice light and neutral. When I was travelling, this was the only palette that I took with me. I lusted over this online for months on end before I finally bought it. It is just stunning and the gold, glittery shade is out of this world. In the summer when I have this palette on and the sun catches it, it gleams and makes my eyes look so nice and bright.

In summer, I always like to go towards more waterproof mascaras because I get runny eyes because of stupid hay fever, but this summer I have been in love with this mascara. I have never tried a mascara that makes my lashes look as long, thick and absolutely jet black the way that this one does. It has lasted really well even on the hottest of days and hasn’t transferred or smudged and that for me makes this well worth the high-end price tag, I think that it will really take a long time before I find another mascara that is half as good as this one!

I wish I didn’t love this product because of how expensive it is, but it is amazing. It took me a while to master but when I got the hang of it eventually nothing has come close to it. It is so quick and easy to use and the spooly on the other end is so big and it works so well for my thick brow hairs. The only thing about this is obviously the price but for the quality of the product that you get, you really cannot go wrong with it. I have been using this religiously for about 6 months and had to repurchase it once and I think that proves how impressed I am with it.
12)   Nivea Lip Balm
I know that this is probably incredibly boring when I could mention Tom Ford lipsticks and Nars Lipglosses but I have to admit that this has been my go to lip product this summer. The thing with my lips is that they are always really dry, so I need to keep them nice and moisturised. Plus, I have quite naturally dark lips, so when I lather my lips up in this it just looks like I have a nice gloss on. Honestly if I didn’t tell people they would just think that I have a normal gloss on and not a Nivea Lip Balm. It is cheap, but really good. These are scattered around everywhere. When I took my car for a valet, they found 4 of these hidden all over!
There you have it, they are my sure-fire products that I have been loving this summer. They work so well with my skin, I have worn them all day long, when I was running through Rome and even climbing the steps of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in 35-degree heat and it still looked perfect by the end of it.
As normal, I will leave links down below to all of the products that I have mentioned in case you want to check them out. Make sure to leave me a comment below and let me know about your go to products that you always dig back out when the summer comes around!

  3. Thanks for sharing and providing more insight into the product you use to get your summer look.

I like to keep mine light and not too heavy! That's as much as I know about what the heck I do to my face when I put makeup on. You seem to know what you're talking about though!

  4. It's funny because I have that Dolce Vita quad but I only ever bring it out in autumn and winter, I've never really thought to use it for summer but I'm gonna give it a go tomorrow now and see what I think!
