Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick vs Makeup Forever HD Foundation Stick

I have always been a lover of a good stick foundation. I think it is the appeal of how quick and easy they are to use. You just have to draw it straight onto your face and then blend it with a sponge or a brush and you are good to go with minimal effort needed.

So when there are two products on the market at the same time that are as raved about as both of these products are then I need to try them out and I also need to let you guys know which one my favourite is out of the two.

First up, in this comparison I want to mention how much product you get with both of these foundations. With the Hourglass Vanish Foundation stick you get 7g of product which is quite minimal for a stick foundation. With the Makeup Forever HD Stick Foundation, you get 12.5g, which is near enough double the Hourglass one.

Next I am going to talk about the packaging. Here the Hourglass foundation wins without a shadow of a doubt. It is nice and sleek and feels really luxurious. The Makeup Forever packaging isn’t bad, but it is just plastic and feels quite basic at the side of the Hourglass version.

Now on for the consistency and I have to admit that I love the consistency of both of these foundations. I would say that the Hourglass Foundation is a much creamier formulation which makes it glide on really smoothly. But, the Makeup Forever still goes on the skin really nice even though I wouldn’t technically call it a creamy formula.

Next I am going to touch on the coverage of these two stick foundations. The Makeup Forever HD Foundation Stick I would say is a medium coverage but easily buildable. With two layers of this stuff I can get a nice full coverage look and it still feels really nice and lightweight. For the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick I would say that it is definitely a full coverage foundation. With one light layer of this stuff everything is covered completely, which makes up for the little amount of product because of how pigmented it is, you only need a really minimal amount.

When the Makeup Forever Foundation is on the skin I would say that it is really lightweight. When I have this on and I set it with my translucent powder it literally feels like I have nothing on my face because of how lightweight it is. The Hourglass does feel like there is product on the face but in no way does it feel cakey or too heavy.

Finally, for the price of these two foundations. The Makeup Forever HD Stick Foundation is £29 for 12.5g. The Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation is £42 for only 7g of product, which looking at it like that seems really expensive.

But, if I had to choose between these two foundations if I could only repurchase one of them, I would have to go with the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick. It is just so nice and creamy. It has really good pigmentation and blends out so nice and seamlessly to the skin.

There you have it. I hope that you enjoyed this post. As normal with all posts on my blog I will leave links down below to where you can find these items in case you want to take a look at them. Make sure to leave me any comments you have below and I will get right back to you!

    1. They can be!
I have quite a lot of dryness on my forehead, but when I use my normal moisturisers and primers they feel fine! Xx

  4. I really love the Hourglass foundation stick. I was hesitant to buy it because it is so pricey, but it's gorgeous on the skin and the shade range is really impressive too.
