Why I Stopped Daily Blogging

As you may be able to guess from the title but this blog post is all about why I stopped daily blogging. As you may already know if you have followed my blog for some time, but when I started my blog out I only blogged every now and again, when I got new products or when I had some inspiration.
As much as I really did like blogging like that because there was no pressure, it did feel so unorganized and I could see that I would never increase the traffic to my blog if I didn’t start uploading consistently. So, one night I got my notepad and a pen and I started writing down all of the blog post ideas that I had floating around my head.
From there I put them into a plan for the next year. I created a calendar and a spreadsheet to track my progress of each post, before I knew it, I had enough posts to blog every single day, so that is what I committed myself to doing.
At the start of the month I would look at what posts need to be wrote that month and power through them, little did I realize just how much work posting every single day would be. When you think about it I actually had to spend time trying each product out and giving it a fair try. From then I would have to write the post. Then at the weekend I would spend 95% of my time awake either taking photos or uploading my posts.

In the end my blog ended up feeling more like a chore than something that I look forward to doing, like I used to when I first started out.
So, after the New Year I pulled my MacBook out and started deleting things from my plan to try and turn my blog into something that I am passionate about. Primarily when I started out I wanted my blog to be about beauty reviews because that is what I know about, then I wanted to throw some high-end fashion reviews into it and the odd lifestyle post.
That is what I ended up with and what I have been working with for the past few months now and I have to admit that I have been so much happier with my blog. Even though there is still a certain amount of pressure to get my blog posts up and keep them consistent in regards to the quality, it is minimal at the side of the pressure that I used to have.
Now I blog every other day so it is literally half the amount of work to do and even though that is still a lot to some people, it is a nice amount of work for me and it is something that I can really keep on top of.
I did worry at first when I planned to cut the amount of blog posts down by half because I thought it would cut my visitor numbers down by half as well. And it really didn’t, if anything my visitors by month has increased and the amount of engagement that I have with the people that visit my blog has only gone up.
The thing about posting less often and having more time to work on each individual post means that the quality can be higher because I’m not rushing through them to make sure that I have something every single day.
Even though I didn’t really think that this needed to be addressed on my blog, I just wanted to put it out there and let you know what the reason for it is. I am only human and I tried something and it didn’t work out for me. At the end of the day you just need to do what is right for you and not be hung up on all the little things.
Life is too short to always be planning and writing. I love that now I can enjoy my time out of work and be in the moment when I am with my friends and family. As much as I love blogging and I don’t see myself stopping anytime soon, it isn’t the be all and end all and I want to have time to myself.
Let me know in the comments below some of the cut throat changes that you’ve had to make to your blog so I know that I’m not the only one!

  1. If I'm honest I prefer when people don't daily blog because I tend to read blogs every other day as opposed to everyday and I find it slightly overwhelming constantly having so much content to read. I'm loving your posts at the moment and there's always something fresh so it makes sense that you've gone down :)

  3. It's difficult to keep up with blogs that post every day and I think it is hard to even do it, I post 2-3 times a week and I usually write my posts on the weekend when I have free time, otherwise I wouldn't be able to post at all!! Happy Saturday xx

  4. I understand you on this. We should blog out of passion & let the creative juices flow instead of putting ourselves under pressure ☺
