January 2017 Favourites

I cannot believe that we are already in February and doing the first favourites post of the year. January just flew by in such a blur I feel like I can’t even remember what I did for most of the month. I just really threw myself into work both with my blog and my actual full time job so I feel rushed off my feet.

Plus, since getting a puppy at Christmas I feel like I haven’t had two minutes to myself. Throughout January I feel like all of my efforts were just trying to give her some form of training and it is so knackering. So, my makeup for the past month has just been products that I can throw on my face really quickly.

But, I do have to admit that I have tried out so many new products. I was lucky enough to get a Christmas bonus this year from work so I spent every single penny on makeup, foolish I know. It made me happy though and it means that I have a lot of new makeup to tell you about...

1)                Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick

My favourite foundation by a longshot has been the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick. This is the quickest and easiest foundation that I have ever used. It just glides on the skin straight from the stick, then I take my Morphe M439, do minimal blending and I am good to go.

The colour, coverage and just overall look of this foundation is absolutely perfect. I am already planning on getting more shades so that I can do a full highlighting and contouring look with these stick foundations. I have also worn this foundation when I have gone out and had my photograph taking and it doesn't cause that horrible white cast, so it is a winner for me!

2)                Becca Ultimate Coverage Concealer

A puppy is like having a new born, she cries in the night and just wants all of my undivided attention so it is safe to say that I am complete shattered. So, a thick ass concealer has been my go to for the whole month. It is safe to say that the Becca Concealer has definitely been my favourite.

It is pretty much the only one that I have been using for the whole month, I have even had to order another pot because I use and abuse it that much. It is a really thick consistency, I would say that it is more gel textured than creamy, but for me that isn't a negative thing. Plus, it covers everything and is buildable to achieve total coverage!

3)                Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow

How I didn’t try this product for so long I have absolutely no idea. I am obsessed with this. Even if the product was crap I would still love it just because of the gorgeous packaging. I have used this every single day throughout January. The highlighter is my new everyday shade, I thought I would use the contouring shade more but I was completely wrong.

I have been using this to contour and highlight just after I bronze up my face. The good thing about the contouring shade is that it isn't too dark for my skin tone and because of the ashy under tones it just means that it creates a shadow on the face rather than just looking like you are adding more colour. I honestly am so in love with this, it is going to be a staple in my collection for a very long time!

4)                Anastasia Brow Wiz

This is another product of convenience. It is just so easy to reach for this and get my brows done quickly.. As much as I love other things like my Anastasia Brow Pomade and the Dior Brow Palette, but when you are trying with a puppy you need to have a free hand and that is fine with this Anastasia Brow Wiz. It is so quick and easy to use and by a mile my favourite brow product. If there is anybody out there who hasn’t tried this yet I would highly recommend giving it a go!

I really want to try more of the Anastasia brow line out but I really think that I will struggle to find something that tops this products. Plus, I love the spoolie on the end, it is great for combing my brow hairs our and getting a rough shape of how I want my brows to look.

5)                Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria Lipstick

I love Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks but every one that I have used so far seems too light for the natural lip colour but this shade is absolutely perfect. It more or less matches my lips perfectly, I have been using this every single day and the next time I place a CT order I am going to have to order another one just to keep in my handbag because I really do reach for this lipstick that much. It is a stunning shade for olive toned skin.

Plus, to say that this is a matte shade it is really nice and nourishing on the lips. Not once have I worn this lipstick and it felt drying and I have worn them from 7am in the morning until 8pm at night and it looks just as good as it did in the morning. It even lasts really well through drinking and eating and it never seems to budge!

6)                Makeup Forever Step 1 Primer

I have never really been interested in primers before because I never really had one that made a difference to my skin tone. I bought this one months ago and used it a couple times for my review but then I just put it away and forgot about it. I have been using it this month just around my nose to control the oil around my nose and it has been perfect. When I use this I can go all day without blotting without powder and that is a huge things for somebody with oily skin!

There you have my favourites. I know there isn’t as many as normal but I just haven’t had time to try out very more new products this month. As normal on my blog I will leave links down below to where you can check out any of the products mentioned.

If you have any questions about any of the products that I’ve mentioned just let me know. Make sure that you leave me a comment below and let me know what products you have been loving throughout January.

    1. I would recommend going into store and colour matching, it is so hard finding the right shade online!

  3. There is so much hype about the filmstar bronze and glow. Which bit is the thing that makes it incredible though, the 'bronze' or the 'glow'?

    1. Both of them!
The contour shade is just the right colour, it isn't too ashy and isn't too bronzy. The highlight as well is just the perfect amount of glow without being over the top!

  4. I love the Filmstar Bronze and Glow as well, I went through a phase where I only wore this for my contour and highlight for such a long time.
