Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer Review

As a gal with oily skin, let me say that this product is bloody amazing. I have always avoided using primers. I don’t know why but for some reason I just don’t like spending my money on something that is clear. I know that is silly especially for somebody who loves makeup as much as I do!

But over the past few months I have notices a big difference in my skin and for some reason I seem to be much oily around my nose, and I have some big events coming up so I wanted to have something that I can use to try and control it.

After looking online and watching some YouTube videos I decided to give the Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying Primer ago. Debenhams had a 15ml of this available and a 30ml, so I thought for this first time using it I would just get the smaller one and see how it goes.

How I have been using this is I just take a small pea sized amount and I rub it in between my fingers and then apply it just to the area where I need it. Which is just by the sides of my nose and ever so slightly on my nose. I don’t have problems with my skin anywhere else and I don’t want the rest of my skin to be overly matte.

I will apply this in a morning as soon as my face has been washed and I have applied my moisturiser, then I will go in with this. While it is settling into place I will do some bits around the house like make my bed, just to give it time to really settle into the skin before going in with foundation.

I have noticed throughout the day that I am a lot less oily and I don’t need to blot as much through the day. Before I used this primer, I would be blotting more or less every hour just to keep on top of it, but not I do it around lunch time each day and then I am good to go for the rest of the day.

Since buying this smaller tube I have gone on and bought the larger one and I have been really loving it. It is something now that I don’t go a day without using and if I do I feel that my makeup looks sloppy all day!

I just wanted to write this short post to help other people out there with oily skin like me or just the odd problem area.

If you have any questions, please feel free to leave them below and I will get straight back to you. Also, I will leave a link down below to where you can check this primer out and some of my other favourites.

  2. I haven't delved much into Makeup Forever, only their lipsticks but now that you can easily get your hands on it, like you said in Debenhams, I really want to! I have dry skin so I wonder if this would work for me as well as sometimes matte primers can be a bit too drying! Glad it works for you though! xx
