Makeup Forever HD Foundation Stick Review

I have always been such a massive fan of stick foundations. I think that comes from having oily skin and a stick foundation just tends to last longer and have a minimal amount of oil in. So when the Makeup Forever HD Stick Foundation came out I knew that I had to give it a go. I don’t really know what has taken me so long to try it out, but I am so glad that I did.

Let me just say before I get into this that I have never really loved a foundation before. I have liked some and repurchased them because they have worked well for my skin type but I have never really had one where I have through… this is my holy grail foundation. Which is why I own so many of them because I am constantly trying to find the best.

Well, I can now confidently say that I have found my holy grail foundation. I really do love this stuff.

First up let’s start with the packaging. This is in a plastic wind up foundation tube. Pretty standard for a foundation stick, but not as nice as the Bobbi Brown foundation stick packaging. But for when you are on the go or travelling this is really great. You know when you put this in your case and you then open it up that it will still be in tact!

How I like to use this is I go in with the foundation stick and I go direct onto the skin. I draw small lines all over the face and then I blend it in using my Morphe M439 brush. If I need more coverage in certain areas I will go in with a little more product.

I like to start with sheer layers and build it up so that I don’t waste any product by applying too much. Also this is nice and full coverage and it is always easy to add more product than it is to take it away.

I also find that this Makeup Forever HD Stick foundation blends out really nicely with a Beauty Blender. As you may know I do have an oily complexion especially around my nose and this foundation holds up really well. I would say that I have to touch up once during the day but that is it. Which is good going for me and my skin type.

I just find that when I have this I feel more confident about my skin and people have even commented saying how nice my makeup has been looking recently, which is always nice to hear and it is all down to this foundation. If you are thinking about giving this foundation I really would give it a go. I am in shade Y405 = 153 and it is the perfect colour for my olive tone skin.

If you have any comments or questions, please leave them below because I love to hear from you guys.

  1. I'm on a foundation buying ban but I've wanted to try this for ages! I'm oily too so glad to hear this holds up quite well, EL double Wear is my usual favourite!

  3. I'm just the same when it comes to foundations and bases: I'm so picky that it took me a while to find my holy grail! I've never tried a foundation stick before, but this one sounds rather good and, actually, quite adapted to my skintype, even though my skin is more on the normal side of things!

  7. I was really unsure about this one! I like the formula but it doesn't seem to last very long on my skin and so I'm not sure I'd repurchase!
