OPI Gel 'Big Apple Red' Review

Now as some of you may know or you may not I do my own nails at home. I bought everything for acrylics and gels and I think everything all together was around £50, which is a lot to spend on nail things, I am in no way denying that but it works out so much cheaper in the long run.

I infill my acrylics every two weeks, it only takes about half an hour on a Sunday and I will change my gels as often as I want. I have been doing this for nearly a year now and I love doing it. It gives me time to relax while I do it because I really take my time so that they look professionally done. People always think that I get them done at a salon which is definitely the aim.

When I do my own acrylics though I don’t use normal nail varnish on them because I find that it doesn’t dry very well and sometimes you can see the texture of the acrylic through the varnish. Gels are the way forward.

This time around I used the colour ‘Big Apple Red’, by OPI. People who know me personally know that I go for bright red for the summer months and I go burgundy in the winter and that is about as adventurous as I get. This is a great summer red colour. It is a really bright and vivid colour. A perfect colour match for the MAC lipstick Ruby Woo.

I get my OPI colours from eBay or Amazon, they work out cheaper than in beauty retailers. And depending on how long you want to wait you could order them from China, some stores sell them, whether the colours are 100% genuine I will let you be the judge… But the ones that I have ordered have stayed on my nails really well, not chipped and worked just as good as the ones I have ordered or picked up in the UK.

Big Apple Red really is such a great shade. Red goes with everything I think and I love to wear it because it breaks up all the black that I usually wear! Highly recommend this product my loves!

  1. Looks like such a gorgeous shade! I play a lot of Netball so can very rarely grow my nails - I love getting some gels on them when I have a few weeks off!Xx
