Kat Von D Lock It Concealer Review

This is something else that I got in my first Sephora order. It came through a while ago now but I wanted to try everything out and test it fairly before I let you guys know what it think about it. It is all well and good trying something once but I like to see how my skin reacts to it in the long time before I tell you whether it is worth you purchasing or not!

I got this because I had seen things online about it been super full coverage and able to cover absolutely anything. I had also seen something online where Kat Von D uses it herself to cover the tattoos up on her face and it worked so perfectly. So, that’s why I got it. I have a god awful tattoo on my wrist that I had done when I was 16 and drunk. It isn’t a bad tattoo it is just the place where it is. I just always think about the day that I get married and having this ugly thing on my wrist.

So, it did take awhile to get here with it coming all the way from America, but it was still relatively quick considering the distance that it had to travel. I did see this being sold from sellers in the UK either on eBay and small ecommerce shops and the price that they were trying to charge were extortionate. Buying it from Sephora themselves worked out very close to the normal price, even including shipping.

First thing I noticed when I received this concealer was how thin the consistency was. I opened it up while I was at work and went to squirt a small amount out and ended up covering my hand in it because it was so runny. So, I got home and put some on my pallet and applied it under my eyes and it really is as thin as water. I thought with it being branded as super high coverage that it would have a thick consistency like the Kat Von D Lock It Tattoo Foundation or like the Tarte Creaseless Concealer.

I applied this to my wrist where my tattoo is and attempted to cover it. One layer really wasn’t enough, I would say that nearly 3 layers of it were needed to anywhere near cover it. The video that I watched made it look much easier than it actually was. But once the layers were applied it did cover it completely.

I wouldn’t say that this is full coverage, it is medium and has the potential to be full when it is built up. I liked how this applied underneath my eyes, I do really have to brighten and conceal this area and this is great for that. Because this is so thin by using a MAC 217 brush it just blended out to nothingness so perfectly. It concealed everything that needed hiding and didn’t feel heavy or cakey.

Even though I do like this product and I will continue to use this product up I don’t think that it is something that I will be repurchasing up religiously. If I wanted something that is lightweight with a buildable coverage I would use something like the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer.

  1. It sounds good, I especially like thin concealers but I do prefer something full coverage over medium. I highly recommend the Tarte Shape Tape which is really full coverage, slightly thicker than I prefer but you literally need two dots under your eyes to look like you have slept on a cloud for three days. Amazing, I will have a review up later this week! Thanks for sharing, will skip this xxx

    1. I really want to try the Shape Tape but having such a hard time getting it in the right shade here in the UK!

  2. I'm surprised to hear it's so watery, I definitely would have expected something more akin to MAC Prolongwear Concealer!

    Sinéad ♥ fabuleuse, toujours ♥

  3. That is exactly what I was thinking too!
